Anybody been watching the new BBC mini-series presentation of "War and Peace"?  Not half bad!  Certainly better than the 2 hour American movie version from 1956 with Audry Hepburn and Henry Fonda.  Not as grand as the 8 hour Russian movie production from 1968 (which had great scenes but really really bad acting along with hideously poor sub-titles).  And I haven't seen the 1972 TV series version with Anthony Hopkins (but it's on my list).

I read the book many years ago and actually enjoyed it despite the bewildering number of characters and Russian names in all their many forms (i.e.familiar form, formal form, male form, female form, nic-names, titles and pet names)  Oy!

This production has cast many of the characters younger than earlier versions and it's more believable than having older people exhibit such juvenile behavior as many of the characters do especially the principle character Count Bezukhov.  He really is much more believable as a naive 18-25 year old rather than a 40 year old.

But in all the film versions that I've seen I've looked for the scene where Napolean stands over the near fatally wounded Prince Andrei Bolkonsky who dimly sees and recognizes the great Napoleon as a pathetic little man.  It was for me a very powerful scene in the book but hardly gets passing mention in any of the film versions.  I realize that movies can't express the depth of a book but I feel cheated when they ignore one of the principle messages of the book, which is that great men are as trapped by their situation as lesser men are.

First ep was on Sunday  here  am recording the series so I might wait and have a bit of a binge watch, looking forward to it :)

Hmm... 400 HP... That would be weird... Seeing a DeLorean go faster than 88 mph... I hope they succeed at this, from what I heard there have been a couple of tries that failed before the projects even took off... Actually, I'm wondering... Didn't someone actually make a couple in the 90s?... I have to look that up, (maybe it was some other rare/discontinued/aborted car) I vaguely remember seeing a real DeLorean with a 1990something registration sticker some years back and the owner telling me some long tale about it... I used to go to a lot of car shows, years back... But now it's all getting fuzzy.

IIRC there were a few aborted tries, it's been a while.  I'd love to see DeLoreans come back!

As an example, look at https://www.daz3d.com/monks-robes-for-genesis-2-male-s.

Monk Robes for Genesis 2.  How long ago did that come out?  Yet it says it requires 4.9.  So, all that time it wouldn't work?

    Dana

But trouble is it is done with one rule.  You don't think that they go through the forum and change the details for every single one of 18,000+ products do you.

No, what I think is that the minimum software requirements should be part of the product record!  My vendors input that data when creating a record for a new product on my site.  It's not that difficult a concept, nor difficult to implement.  The form has a picklist with the different software and the version numbers.  Simple.  Of course, this poor habit has been here for a very long time, so it would be difficult to correct them all now.  But going forward, it should be something the analysts and developers should truly consider.  Especially when probably a huge percentage of your user base would like to see this.

...beginning to lose my enthusiasm for 3D CG because of all this rubbish about encryption.. Still haven't installed 4,9 after reading about issues others have experienced. Didn't download any of the encrypted freebies. Also miffed that finally after waiting all these years there is a decent basic trench coat, however it is one of the encrypted products.  Seems this is happening to DO's with more regularity which makes paying for a PC membership less appealing.

Kind of makes me feel like it's Daz's version the "free" Win 10 deal.

I'm curious, KK. What programs do you want to port the meshes to, and why? This isn't a challenge, I don't use any programs that need the mesh, or don't have a bridge. Thanks.

How can it "be happening with increased regularity"  when you are talking about a system which has only been live a few days, with about 3 products a day using the new system, and being available at very highly discounted prices, in order for people to try without spending too much hard earned dosh.

And it has nothing to do with the PC+

...as a member of PC+, DOs are discounted at 30% (or more). The Detective Poses, Trenchcoat/Textures are DO items. They are also encrypted. I have also read where base figures (which are DO content as well) may also go this route.

Rather than bail out, why not bring this suggestion to those who can maybe make it happen?  (or even if you do bail out of the discussion)

No, what was said was that base figures would NOT be encrypted.

That was yesterday near where we were at Avalon airport, a tropical storm blew up out of nowhere. Today I was out East of the city and there were hailstones laugh Right now there is a bit of wind stirring up a murky overcast and real humid a little before sunset :)
