How can it "be happening with increased regularity"  when you are talking about a system which has only been live a few days, with about 3 products a day using the new system, and being available at very highly discounted prices, in order for people to try without spending too much hard earned dosh.

And it has nothing to do with the PC+

The DAZ camel is not that new.  It doesn't require 4.9!  Unfortunately, they have a poor practice of putting the latest version of Studio in the required field, even if that version is not required.  They really should stop doing that.  Even the newer camel they have came out months ago, so doesn't require 4.9.  I don't think that was a D.O., though, so the one you are talking about is definitely very, very old.

This was Camellia, the HD camel.  And I'm not willing to risk the money and get stuck with "store credit" I'll never use.  The Rendo camel will work fine, and is a lot less expensive.

    Meh.

I agree.  Marking all products with 4.9 scares off buyers.

The original DAZ Camel doesn't even show up in a search of the store.  My Camel Camelia HD is what shows up.  That is the one that showed up in the store last year sometime.  I think it was last year.  It's in my wishlist, too expensive for me though.  Right now.  I have the DAZ Camel, though, and the Howdah set for it, and Noggins' textures for the Howdah, and Camel Saddle and Bridle.  Anyway, Camelia will work with 4.8.

Actually it doesn't require 4.9. They just changed 4.8 to 4.9 everywhere in the store.

Annoying, isn't it?  By right, they should put the lowest version it will work in, or at least was tested in.  If something was released two years ago, that certainly couldn't require DS 4.9!  But if you look at the product page, it will say as much.   angry  Very poor practice!

As an example, look at https://www.daz3d.com/monks-robes-for-genesis-2-male-s.

Monk Robes for Genesis 2.  How long ago did that come out?  Yet it says it requires 4.9.  So, all that time it wouldn't work?

But trouble is it is done with one rule.  You don't think that they go through the forum and change the details for every single one of 18,000+ products do you.

    With all due respect...

Not really, but the smart thing to do would have been for them to make the requirements read:  "requires DAZ Studio X.XX or above"... and then you only have to include the info for new versions at the time of release... As far as I'm aware, almost all older DS content except scripts and plugins and stuff like that work in newer versions... They may not look great but they work. So if a product was released at the time DS 3.xxx, and the requirements info was not updated, it would still be valid... But blanket updating the requirements makes them meaningless as you see here... You lose sales to customers who for whatever reason (like an older OS, older computer ect...),  may be using an older version of DS... They see requires DAZ Studio 4.9 and they walk away.

But that would have required having done that in the past, or if it was a prior practice, having transferred that info to the new store... And I suppose some items that do get outdated would require them to include the last working version, as in "requires DAZ Stuidio 2.3 - 3.0"...  Which I further suppose should be done, regardless... If it's not already being done that way... Because saying everything requires the current version REALLY makes a requirements notation absolutely meaningless, if it's not updated to ammend outdated content. That doesn't just lose sales it fosters resentment in customers who then have to file tickets for refunds and then lose faith in product descriptions and requirements... Despite people often saying "all you have to do is file a support ticket", the cold hard truth is pretty much nobody likes doing that and most people are annoyed by it... It may just be how it works now, but I liken it to getting a bowl of soup at a take out place and before you walk out, you find a dead fly in it and ask for a new bowl and the owner says they are out, but if you fill out a refund ticket you'll be sent a refund in the order in which it was received... That's just how our cash registers work, we can't open them for refunds, they have to be mailed... How most people would feel at that point is how most people do feel about ticket based refunds related to avoidable slip ups.

OK, I've been bitten by price changes... I think.  Yesterday I saw a product called "Ocean Wide" (SKU #18493) in a sale for something like $5.98 so I put it in my basket and immediately checked out, grabbed my purchase and printed my receipt.  Today I picked up my printed receipt from the printer tray and started to file it into my receipts folder in my desk when I glanced at the price and it was $16.95  WTF!!!!  Was I mistaken about the sale?  Was it one of those things where I needed to buy something else first?  I usually don't even check those categories, I just look at the "Freebies" and the "FastGrabs".  Somebody remember that item at about a 60% off sale price or am I going senile?

Anybody been watching the new BBC mini-series presentation of "War and Peace"?  Not half bad!  Certainly better than the 2 hour American movie version from 1956 with Audry Hepburn and Henry Fonda.  Not as grand as the 8 hour Russian movie production from 1968 (which had great scenes but really really bad acting along with hideously poor sub-titles).  And I haven't seen the 1972 TV series version with Anthony Hopkins (but it's on my list).

I read the book many years ago and actually enjoyed it despite the bewildering number of characters and Russian names in all their many forms (i.e.familiar form, formal form, male form, female form, nic-names, titles and pet names)  Oy!

This production has cast many of the characters younger than earlier versions and it's more believable than having older people exhibit such juvenile behavior as many of the characters do especially the principle character Count Bezukhov.  He really is much more believable as a naive 18-25 year old rather than a 40 year old.

But in all the film versions that I've seen I've looked for the scene where Napolean stands over the near fatally wounded Prince Andrei Bolkonsky who dimly sees and recognizes the great Napoleon as a pathetic little man.  It was for me a very powerful scene in the book but hardly gets passing mention in any of the film versions.  I realize that movies can't express the depth of a book but I feel cheated when they ignore one of the principle messages of the book, which is that great men are as trapped by their situation as lesser men are.

My tablet thinks I have war and peace but I never bought it so I do not have it.  Some weird glitch.

I never had any problems at all with that, you actually download a key as a file so it works like the old school dongles, LW always had a dongle :)

oh ps It takes a bit of skill to port from Studio to LW, not easy but not impossible. Poser has a LW pluging is ridiculously simple :)

I want to know what the guy who came up with the word "dongle" was thinking... Actually I'm pretty sure I know, but it's pretty funny it took... But the runners up were probably "Wangle" and "Schlongle".
