I wish there was a computer mouse that will not fall to the ground so easily as the ones I get.

Try a flying squirrel instead of a mouse.

Didn't download any of the encrypted freebies. Also miffed that finally after waiting all these years there is a decent basic trench coat, however it is one of the encrypted products.  Seems this is happening to DO's with more regularity which makes paying for a PC membership less appealing.

Kind of makes me feel like it's Daz's version the "free" Win 10 deal.

I'm curious, KK. What programs do you want to port the meshes to, and why? This isn't a challenge, I don't use any programs that need the mesh, or don't have a bridge. Thanks.

Have you done stuff in Poser?  I don't remember seeing you post anything that said it was done in Poser.  And Marvelous Designer...with all your money troubles of late, how in the world did you manage to get that?  It's very expensive!  surprise

These things involve exporting, right?  The standard exporting things are not affected by the encryption.  Only DS-specific files will be encrypted (.duf and the like)...and those can't be used elsewhere anyway.

...I've done a few things with it but mainly just use it for the cloth and materials rooms now.

For Marvelous Designer, I got in on the ground floor when I became an early adopter and picked up the original personal licence during the "launch sale" (while I was still gainfully employed). Allowed for deep discounts on further upgrades before they went to the cloud.  Alas, I do not have the latest version.

Same for Poser Pro.  I won a copy of Poser 8 in a challenge and that let me "sidegrade" to Pro for a very good price.

Try a flying squirrel instead of a mouse.  It will glide instead of plummet.  And certainly don't use sheep, they definitely plummet and find it hard to perch in trees. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLJvCuayeHg

...didn't PDQ Bach write a piece on this theme.... Sheep may Safely Plummet?

They're calling it a season.  Short season, though.  We've already watched the first two!  Excellent!

I picked up Poser Pro 2010 a couple years ago for $45 at amazon.com.  I thought that was a pretty good price.  I haven't used it much...once, actually.  I didn't find it too bad that time.  Then later someone wanted some testing on something...I failed miserably finding my way around again.  I have to try to work at it more.  I'd love to upgrade to a newer version to have the weight-mapping so I could do things with Dawn, Dusk and Baby Luna.  Right now I could only do something with the DS versions.  I only managed the Christmas for the Baby Luna Sleeper because both versions use the same UV map.  I couldn't actually model somethign for both...not that I've done a lot of modeling yet, but I plan to learn.

More proof that Hollywood is completely out of new ideas.

Loved the old one until they started chasing aliens every week.  Does anybody remember the cockroach episode?  Or the one with the guy who's brother was living in his belly?  Okay, that one was weird.  LOLZ

They brought it back because the fans wanted it, not because they were out of ideas.  I think they will wrap up the overarching storyline, I doubt it will go into more seasons.  But who knows at this point?

There are plenty of new ideas, is just that on the whole bankers don't want to back them. X Files is what the industry calls "bankable" product, the bankers will fund that cos it is less risky than, say, Mister Robot or New Detective. Amazon is working up a production slate now, will be interesting to see how they spread the risk

So they find the aliens?  I know!  They learn that "The Smoking Man" was an alien, and that aliens can die from lung cancer too!

I highly doubt I'll watch it this time around.  It was great in its time, especially early on.  But I'm in a different place right now.  If anything, I'd rather WRITE an episode with all new characters than be forced to see how much Gillian Anderson has aged, and then knowing from that that I too have aged.

And watching it would mean I'd have to actually allow network television back into my home, and I'm not sure I want to breathe air contaminated with today's Hollywood's airborne PCBS.  I also enjoy not having late night starving children, abused animal, and fat-buster advertisements.  Oh, and the home laser hair removal ads, yuck.  And don't forget, this is an election year.  With Iowa just around the corner, I have so far heard (um, let me count them....), yep; zero political ads.  Hey, I kind of like that.  smiley

They may have brought it back because of of pressure from fans, but that still doesn't eliminate the theory that Hollywood is out of ideas.  I've friends inside the industry and heard them complaining about the derth of truely new ideas.  I can believe it because after 60 years of watching new movies and TV shows, I notice nothing really new.  Ho hum, boring!  That's probably one of the reasons that the industry keeps moving toward younger and younger viewers, they need people who haven't already seen it all.  And I am waiting with bated breath for the current vampire and zombie fads to either exsanguinate or rot away.

What is wrong with vampire stories?

  • What is wrong with vampire stories?

Nothing, if you like vampire stories.  But even eating nothing but cake and ice cream gets boring and isn't good for your health.  It's a fad.  It will end.  I won't mourn.

You can like anything you want.  I like minotaurs and satyrs.  But the vampire movies are a fad and already have been largely replaced by zombies, and I believe even they are on the way out, being replaced by post apocalyptic teen hero movies.  The theme of teen hero cliques seems to be the plot du-jour much like comic books.

what?  i still watch  Underworld1 & 2 like every other month.   i like Kate, and the Michael actor is like yummi.

It's like a ritual, with snacks. Ben& Jerry's brownie ice cream and vampires.

The Patricia Briggs novels still has vampires and werewolves.

Kim Harrison had lesbian vampires. but see, Kim Harrison had a twist on the vampires, she made them living vampires, til they died, then they were vampire vampires.

And you can still find westerns too.  It all comes and goes as fads like clothing styles.  But nothing's ever really new.  Yellow bow instead of red, hemline up, hemline down, backless, strapless, shiney, coarse, polkadots, stripes.  Once you see the limited patterns in the changes it all fades into meaninglessness.  It's the curse of old age and long memory.

    Too much drama?

    Complaints! angry

Only sen my boss once this week, when he delivered a users guide that I needed to reverse engineer the code that someone could have taught me about in one day instead of me having to spend ALL FRICKING WEEK tearing apart, analyzing, teaching myself buried pipeline corrosion chemistry, how to analyze pipeline/soil electric potential to see if your corosion protection electronics are working, how to correlate the readings into meaningful data, what the various charge differences meant as to the phsical state of the pipeline, the Federal regulations that mandate this mess, and how the product handles all this and more. angry

All this withut the guy who ws supposed to be helping me... helping me.  He got called off all week into critical meetings. indecision

So, as much as I shouldn't complain about getting paid to teach myself how to solve an entirely new problem domain, I am anway becaue it's a total waste of my customers money.

My agency is all "wtf", we talked on the phone for about 20 minutes this morning and they're wondering why they were in such a hurry to get me in the door.  I'm clueless.  Our only thought is that maybe the original developer was on his way out the door, and since his desk is empty and I haven't seen him (ever) there may be some truth to the concept. indecision

Anyway, meh. indecision I need to find less stressful, less stupid, work.  Maybe I'm not too old to compose music for film, Austin has a thriving film community... indecision

Every now and then I get a spark of ambition and say to myself: "Self, the economy's improving you can go back to work and find something meaningful and lucrative to do". Then I have breakfast and the feeling goes away.
