FYI, for those who buy pre-G9 stuff: the Best of Valentine's Past characters have $2/$3/$4 floor pricing, which is disclosed. BUT they won't discount at all without 1 of the Valentine's new releases in cart - yes I reported it & buy-in requirement has already been confirmed. which isn't disclosed (unless it's already been fixed).
Both omissions/errors in deals & limits on how we can use stacking/coupons/tokens have been increasing lately. So sadly I am implementing my own Daz policy: If there's an egregious (IMO) error in a promo, like the discount doesn't work properly &/or some limit (buy-in, no stacking, floor price, etc.) isn't disclosed when it goes live, I skip that promotion. No matter how quickly it's fixed, no matter it was unintended, no matter how pretty & sincere any apology is, & no matter how interested I was in the deal.
Outside of the big sales, I only make small purchases a couple times during the month. Without any extra membership, it's pretty easy to ignore a lot of sales. This one is case in point. Maybe this will be a year when I don't spend much. Too soon to say, but so far has been sparse.
One thing that is different now: years ago, you could bank on a decent Daz+ items sale, extra 50, 60% off, use the pa coupon to get a ton of Daz+ stuff for cheap. Now that's not so common.
i also notice, now that my memberships expired, the freebies seem to have changed. I was getting infinite stream of plant life then empty corridors. Now seems like more shader sets and outside structures. At least shader sets can be useful. And I like outside structures, too. Probably, when I sign back up, we'll be back to plants and corridors.
It was even within the last year, because there were a lot of times I cleared out a good chunk of my my D+ because it'd all dropped to 50 cents or some such. Now I have a bunch of products that have been dangling there for a long time waiting for the next one to come. If it doesn't, I doubt I'll get them since don't have an application immediately in mind. Their choice on whether they'd rather have a reasonably large cart full of 50-cent items from me, or nothing at all. And when I get a lot of stuff super cheap, sometimes I can justify another item or two I've been waiting on and wanting that are a bit more than I'd ususally spend.
I like the weeks that have shader sets. Even if I'm sitting there with no idea what I'd ever use it for... in theory something might come up. Maybe that decoratively perforated metal would look nice on a pencil holder or something. The outdoor structures are largely outside my genre, but I get 'em anyway. You never know. Shrink it down, it could be a kid toy or something.
@SilverGirl : Good, good, all good!
I like the plants.
What I intend to create art for is mostly outside. But rotating around basic genres is good for all.
I would've liked the plants more if they were ever the plants I actually needed.
But I still prefer them to Sci-Fi Hallway #362. Or yet another hot tub.
I wonder if Jack goes to the PAs and says "Who will make me another Sci-Fi Hallway?" or whether the PAs come to Jack and say "I made another Sci-Fi Hallway, will you buy it from me?"
That thing with the plants has mesmerized me. I could always use more plants, but what I really want are trees. Or treants. That'd be cool, now that I think of it, I believe RawArt has a treant...
In the meantime, hopefully Sci-Fi Hallway #363 will be something a little different. If not, we could always put the hot tub in there, and surround it will plants.
Chives, thyme, and coriander are the ones I have my fingers crossed for getting someday.
But yeah, maybe the hot tubs just need to become giant planters? My old workplace had a brick wall that had originally been a waterfall-thingie at one point. Not sure why it stopped being one, but they put a ton of potted plants in the basin and all the little ledges instead. I always liked that wall... maybe I just need to do something like that.
As for treants... https://www.daz3d.com/tree-giant-mega-bundle
I've had it wishlisted forever because I don't actually need it, but it's so cool...
Ooh thats a great bundle right there. I love this kind of theme, which is why Sylvia 9 is one of my favorite bundles as of recent times. I'm going to Wishlist it too. Thanks!
I like your hot tub idea of making it a potted plant. That'd be a great conversation starter. "See this thyme? I'm growing it in this shrunken down hot tub. This is what you call using shrinking tech responsibly."
That's good. You probably have a lot of them by now. And I hope they serve you well!
What's this "floor price" thing? Is it a new rule? Something for the current sale only?
That term is being used to describe when there's a minimum price required for a purchase. It's very new (for here anyway) and quite unpopular. It's happened more than once so there's been justified concerns, especially if that minimum gets to higher numbers-right now the highest has been $5 but it's a slippery slope.
As a Premier member I am VERY disapponted with the Valentine's sale coupons. They are of NO use to me. While it doesn't show that I own all the Legacy bundles I do own all the contents of all of them because I bought all the Pro bundles. And of course I can't uise the DAZ+ coupon. It makes me wish that I hadn't given up my DAZ+ membership. It seems like my Premier membership is being even more devalued.
I second this. Let us use the $10 coupon as an alternative.
For me its basically limiting things to 80% off, sometimes less, when in the past it was easy to get to 90% off. And thats a huge difference, going from 90% to 80% off is effectively doubling the price paid for an item. I've lost all incentive to shop here if this is the new norm.
Agreed, and I'm not even Premier. You folks should have the choice between both.
Adding my complaints to the crowd. I haven't bought anything since the minimum prices were instituted on Wednesday. I actually let a handful of tokens expire on Friday because I just couldn't muster the will to put a cart together. Today's coupons are a joke. I bought into Premier for the discounts and now they're being devalued all over the place. Someone should tell Daz marketing that disincentivizing your customers isn't the way to foster loyalty and willingness to buy into a monthly subscription.
Earth to DAZ Marketing - its not a "gift" if you have to buy a new release to get it.
i have been on the verge of joining Paltinum again, but all this stuff has stopped me cold. Nothing that I need anyway, and sorry, but the stuff being sold as new everyday is getting pretty darn monotonous. Maybe if you're somewhat new it would come in handy.
I can't blame you. This entire week has been pretty bland. The extra free G9 Bundle is a decent sale for today, but I'm not forcing myself to buy expensive items that don't interest me for an older bundle that are, really, only available for me to buy because of my lack of interest in those as a whole.
With March Madness around the corner, hopefully things get better. One of them being no more minimum amount for a purchase.
Yeah, I looked at that $10 worth of DO's and went... well, maybe... if there's a cheaper new release I could use eventually, if you average out the price of that and several DO's, it'd be a good price each.
And then I looked at the price of the DO's in my WL.
Yeah, no.
Tomorrow's Presidents' Day, maybe a decent flash sale?
Not when I already own all the contents of the offered bundles because I already bought the Pro bundles.
Sadly, not for the first day this week, I am letting another bunch of tokens die at Daz midnight, leaving me with almost none for the first time, I believe, in weeks if not months.
There's just nothing worth building a cart around and now, next time there is, my enthusiasm will be tempered by having no tokens.
For me the nice features of Premier are tempered by having the same expensive buy-ins. In this sale no less than 2 expensive buy-ins are required to trigger the coupon for a free old character bundle. Premier is further reduced by the dminished use of tokens by the flat minimum price policy. I realize we're sort of "in the doldrums" before the next big sale in March, and not a lot is to be expected in terms of sales deals, but the basic benefits of Premier are harder for me to see.
During its launch and shortly afterward, Premier was useful on a daily basis, but it seems to be changing into an expensive option now. I don't use the subscription characters or enhancements to the software so they're not a factor for me. Aside from some sub $3.00 LDs, I've spent my money elsewhere this weekend.
The thing about premier is it only has value for someone spending money pretty consistently because of those extra discounts and tokens. When we get lackluster new releases or promotions where many don't find attractive or even applicable, it very much devalues having the subscription.
For the legacy bundles there's one, maybe two, I would consider getting out of my available options. But it isn't worth me needlessly spending on those Valentine releases I don't really want. I can't even buy them with that "I might use this someday" justification I usually save for the weekly character bundles.
What would have helped me spend today is that $10 coupon as an alternative. But no deal. I also hope they do better next week.
So much to be disappointed in this past week, in no particular order:
1. New releases that are increasingly unappealing &/or unoriginal.
2. New pricing schemes that devalue perks that just a few months ago Daz was telling us how great they were and that they were totally worth the increased membership costs.
3. More sales not working as intended.
4. Deal terms that are omitted from sales pages.
