Sale has been quite boring overall. Grab Bag especially - many of these items were $1.99 or $2.99 in past sales, so $3.99 or $4.99 with required buy-in just isn't going to open my wallet.

I'd have zoned out weeks back if not for Daz Horse 3. And with the focus returning to (unappealing) G9 content, it's starting to feel like "Why am I bothering to check the site again?"

Yesterday with everything in the store on sale, made a big dent on my credit... some 50+ items with ~85% off. Lots of stuff that usually doesn't get below $10-15, was in the $2-5 range (after all the stacked discounts and 8 tokens)

Sure, with high buy-ins (new releases, $80 for max tokens, etc). And for newer or more expensive items that weren't included in previous Grab Bags, that might be worth it.

But many of these items I recognize from previous sales. These are items that just didn't make the cut at the time (usually because I already had half a dozen other GB items in the cart). As the new releases become less interesting, these would've been great to buy this month... if they weren't twice as expensive now (actually more, considering the buy-in).
  • I myself get more and more picky. Cuz sales get more and more complicated. Buy-Ins, Tokens, small Bundles which get Add-On Bundles some days later. Tokens which do apply to the cart but not to the Grab Bay. Oh my.

Will get Pacific Northwest Botanica - Bundle. That's a nice deal for $3.99, don't care if I won't get tokens for getting just this.

Oh, wow, ok I grabbed that as it's a fantastic deal and was on my wishlist. But... what deal was it a part of? It doesn't show at that price in the store, and it doesn't seem to be listed in any of the grab bag type sales I can find. I'm sure I'm just missing the listing since there are so many different deals happening at once, just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything else.

It is part of the main March Madness page.

Weird, I followed that link too since it sounded like the most similar deal, and I wasn't seeing it listed. Must have been a different grab bag URL because I'm seeing it now. Thanks!

For those that are interested, note the "restrictions" on the flash sales. There is no restriction on how many times the MADGB can be used and the LUCKYDAY can be used four times.
The usual "Offer does not stack with other discounts" is also missing, so tokens and any other discounts apply as well.

Must have been a glitch, as the coupon no longer works on it.
Edit; I was using the flash sale grabbag coupon...

This is not a coupon deal. It is part of the main March Madness ad today.

I wish they took all of the sales for the week and posted them at the beginning of the week lasting the whole week.  Too often, I can't make up my mind and say screw it because I don't have enough time to decide what I want.  Did that the last 2 days when I thought I was definitely going to get something.  Problem was I could not make up my mind in time before bed if I wanted stuff from Polish or some other artists in conjunction with Joan 9 bundle and potential token use if I bought a gift card.  Oh well.  I guess I saved $80 on 2 separate days this week.

And its not like they will make more money later on, as I only buy stuff when it is a really good deal now.  So if sale ends, it just means I wait a few months or so until it is back to the same deal or better.  OR... I end up buying something else for a really good deal that I ended up deciding I wanted more.

...I think it's ridiculous that Daz+ items can cost as much as 7.99$, in some case even more (lke the exclusive items").  I understand inflation, but back in the day all were the same price like 1.99$, and later, 2.99$

I also wondered about the requirement of "1$+ "New" items.  I haven't seen "1$" items here for years and that was when Platinum Club Items were discounted.

  • naturally the day of the slow back... was the one with a new release I was willing to buy and ta da ten items in the sale pile out of about a 7 page assortment
    ---
    todays zip in the choices
As for the old plea for show wishlist..  on the days of 30 pages ... not even going to bother looking.
    ---
And is Dazs server having issues? took multiple tries over ten minutes to get in  and I was able to open pages everywhere else.

Hmm. Looks like I could purchase a $100 gift card, and the 15% discount would pay for the elf saddle and textures, leaving me with $100 credit and the maximum eight Daz Tokens to use for an order today (because they expire at midnight)...

Aside from gift cards, is anything else excluded from the Daz Token discount?

Edit: The cart indicates that tokens actually expire at midnight tomorrow, not tonight, assuming the timer is correct.

The tokens dont affect the standard 3.99 bag but they sure do affect the weekend 4.99 one.

Another question: I see Space Battle Fleet Bundle in Trending Now, which seems odd (as it's older and expensive)... Was it dirt cheap recently? I don't recall seeing it at deep discount, but the sales pages are such a mess that I wouldn't be surprised if I missed it.

It's one of the items that I'd buy with the token discount, but now I'm wondering if I'd be drastically overpaying even at 79% off, and I'm leaning toward not buying anything today.

Thanks. I figured it out from the cart timer, but I'd been reading "They expire every Sunday" to mean the tokens reset on Sunday, presumably as the day started. The cart timer is nice - clear sales terms are appreciated.

I tried putting Josie 9 into the cart when I had applied my 8 tokens, but it did not change her price. Are only the items offered on the banner pages included in the token discount?

I have removed her from my cart and purchased it, btw. But I am curious.

For me the tokens are working on Josie 9 and her bundles.

For those interested, the yearly membership offer gets extra discount with tokens.

Yeah - it's been in an out of my cart twice so far - it's quite a good price but I already have membership till July 2024. Hmm...Hmmm

It's funny, I wasn't planning to get involved with tokens, but the GC sale yesterday made sense for me (I was getting low on store credit) so I ended up with a bucketload. Now I have to beg myself not to go wild and use them! (I've failed twice so far)

ETA: I loved that "January goes mad" thing - chunks of my wishlist at 73% off!

Mine was due to expire on March 26th, now it's valid until March 26, 2024.

Sorry, didn't notice the year on yours... blush

  • Just saying, I would have purchased a WHOLE BUNCH of stuff had the tokens not been limited to 40% but I guess I'll have to be patient and focus on other things, March isn't over yet. Also, if there's one thing the sale shows is that even in 2023 I can still get tricked into re-buying DAZ content I already own by a prevous bundle purchase. Be sure to double check your cart items just in case!

Got a nice orange banner for the daily "Newly Mad" offers for today - which is mostly the HM Lightstalker Bundle - giving me 10% off, because I already own quite a few HM products. Kinda funny, though, as all of those products were bought when they were part of a $ 1.99 grab bag sale. I really wonder why that would indicate that I would be ready to shell out serious money for this - Genesis 9, of which I bought zero products - not really cheap bundle or it's parts. wink

  • joannajoanna Posts: 1,583

You know what annoys me in the buy-in requirements the most? That they are so limited. If there's a new  bundle with a theme/genre/etc. you aren't interested in, there's nothing for you to pick from if you're willing to spend money on the said buy-in for other things. Out of today's 12 "newly mad releases", 1 is a bundle, 10 are items from the bundle, and the remaining one is something different. That doesn't feel like a choice from 12 items but from 2 which limits it greatly.

I really think that more people would be willing to pay for buy-ins and there would be less complaints about them if the selection was bigger. Why does it always have to be "today's new releases" and not "this week's new releases" or "the last 5 days' new releases"?

That's it for the rant. I suppose I'll be back tomorrow when the buy-ins new releases might be better, but the tie-ins might be less appealing to me thus removing the incentive to buy anything again.
