...ugh more forum software stupidity with random logouts again.
For myself the matter is the ones I like are all .3ds format and require conversion which considering my less than adept ability at modelling and texturing pretty much limits me to commercial models. Really wish Daz would include a native import from .3ds.
Remember that Cacdy that started the thread?
Remember that Cacdy that started the thread?
...what a difference.
Wow that's nice
Thanks... not bad for 3Delight...
...wait, the bottom one was done in 3DL?
yep.. I dont do iray at all.. that one uses a HDRI background with the lighting done with Parris IBL master - shaders are DZfire's Real Paints and Real Metals..
I have DZFire's Real Paints, I've always used Schurby's Chrome shader presets that came with his models when I was working in 3DL, I do mostly Iray now myself, but there are good shaders out there to make 3DL look good as well.
Actually that Caddy came along long after this thread was started, as this thread was started by Music2-4-u, he lets it get to 100 pages then makes a new thread, thats why this one is known as Car and Bike Lovers MARK IV!
And we can't actually check to see what car started the 1st thread, because it was back on the old old forum, so 2011 or early 2012.
...I've been working with IBL Master and been quite impressed with it. High quality scenes without the long wait time of UE. Never tried it with something shiny like a car.
I knew it was way back then, don't know right exactly when, but it was all on the old forum, so far Mark III and Mark IV are on the new forum, so I guess we can see what started on the more recent forum!
Deuces Wil!
That was the Mk 2 thread, was on the in between forum, but that was merged with this version of the forums, unlike the old old archived forums.

with a shelby cobra on first post in part 2
I used a 66 to make the Monkee Mobile. The entire front end had to be reworked so I would have that dip in the center of the hood and the pointed headlights. I had to extend the rear a small bit to get the rear seats in there. The top came from an old 30s model of a german car I think...lol. I had to rework it too for it to fit right. I made the monkee logo on the door myself. The chute was also added with some working of the trunk. It's not perfect but I think it is so close to the real one. I have won a few contests with it for modeling.
I think this render is the one that started off this thread. My memory isn't the best but I think this render is why I started this thread way back then.
Here is my rough draft of that same scene.
My truck is coming along too since I got the wheels and tires done.
I just got the other new Wild Fantasy Roadster. This one is more realistic than the other. Here it is right out of the box.
Here Big George is stopping on his way out of the orchard to chat with a friend on his phone.
Beach Beauty!
Nice ones!
+1
I remember your Monkee Mobile, but where was the 66 Goat? The only one I remember was the 67 Convertible off the warehouse, and that one ain't too good by todays standards, I don't really know which car you started the original thread with, as I did come along later while the original thread was still going, I do know one thing though, if there is a hard way to accomplish anything, I'll be the one to find it!
Love the Fantasy Roadster, and it does look to be a little more realistic than the so called Fantasy Coupe, and of course, the 62 Vette on the beach is nice, always nice!
Closest I have to the new Fantasy Roadster..
Nice! But how could he even see to drive that thing?
Dana
yeah.. but I have seen pics of real rods with that sort of thing... I'll play around and see if I can do an engine swap...
