Well, it's going on 3am so I'm done. I think you get the idea about the head presets- quite a variety!

Very interesting, you certainly can get variation. The two scary ones were the 5-6 year old and the 9-10!. Just add a cigarette dangling from the youngest one's  lips and you'd have a street urchin you would cross the road to avoid.

    It's the five o'clock shadow. :D

LOL, I DID remember to remove the stubble though from the hair/skin product. It's the skin mats doing the five o'clocker.  I definitely would use another Gen8M for the younger kids!

  • Great minds think alike, it seems. I did one of a younger Giovanni that I posted in Darwinsmishaps thread.

The skin looks photo-real, I'm not really keen on the eyebrow though.

There's three to choose from, IIRC, and a no-brows. I like the eyebrows, but not on the kids/younger versions. Tired of the feminine/dainty brows on men, these look masculine and have a different shape.

Yeah, that Giovani skin texture just doesn't work for kids. The Five'o Clock shadow the texture has just doesn't cut it.

Well... counting my money (as you do midway through another DAZ sale) and realising my motherboard is compatible, I've decided to upgrade my desktop to a nice shiny new video card. Yes, I'm giving myself a 1060 for Christmas laugh More memory some time next year, and the old beast* should be good for another year or two. It'll mean buying a bit less content, but being able to actually use the content for more than vignettes or portraits is nice as well ;-)

*7 years old this Christmas, i7 12GB - so not too sloppy for most stuff. It's already on its second video card (a 760) after I blew up the original one playing Skyrim four years or so ago LOL

@nath  That sounds like the smart thing to do! Less content, but rendering more of what you have- that's a win-win!  Looking forward to seeing your masterpieces! And ah, yes, Skyrim!  I don't play video games, but have heard about that one as my oldest son played it. It looked really neat from what I saw.

Jane for Genesis 3 Female       Hanami Outfit (Gen3F)       Xanadu Hair (Gen3F)

I haven't featured many, if any, of Cherubit's gals so thought I'd do one. LOVE those dimples!

I also like the Xanadu Hair because you can increase/ decrease the transparency and I like the thicker strands/ less see-through approach. The dress was part of a Pro-Bundle, it's not something I'd ever use but has cute details. (The forums are doing it again, the popup picture is lighter than the original!)

I did change the skin a bit, added metal flakes,  increased reflectivity.

Skyrim's a lot of fun, and I still play it now and then.

I think the idea that I need to do something about the computer really sank in when I couldn't render several scenes I had set up. :-[  (and yes I do have that whatever it's called to make your scenes smaller)

Well, again it pays not to get something the first day of release. I decided not to get the Charlotte Pro Bundle as I really have waaay more stuff than I'll ever use. I don't care for the long hair, don't need poses, etc. So then the 15% off gift card is offered today with the purchase of 3 new things.  Got Charlotte 8 base model,  Peasant Dress (a PC+ cheapie) and Marieke which brought the cart with the gift card of $150 to $151.87, so literally, since I would spend $150 for products in the next month or two anyway, might as well have it as a gift card. (Thank goodness for early Christmas money presents!) So deducting the savings (15%) of the gift card to the 3 items, I paid $1.87 for Charlotte and 2 characters. Ta-duh!   (Loyalty 30% on the characters and Charlotte too)

I had the "free" Pro Bundles except for three, and I had all the items in those that I wanted, would never use the others. So there was no incentive there to get the Pro Bundle. The extra 20% for textures (If I got the Pro Bundle) wasn't an incentive either as I have SO many shaders I don't hardly buy material products anymore. I have enough clothes.  And I've stopped buying things just to showcase as I have a backlog of thousands of items just for that.

Note: You can only get ONE gift card per 3 qualifying items. That sucks.

Edit: Then in next order, got Aisling for 50 cents, as used my PC+ code and it took $6 off for the DO's.  So Peasant Dress, Charlotte, Marieke, and Aisling came to $2.37 That's if I apply the savings of the gift card as explained above, all to the prices of the dress, Charlotte and Marieke. The only difference in doing the $150 gift card is it's in that form instead of in Paypal. Might as well do the gift card. It's a lot of money to do that, not making light of that, but if you look at what you spend in a couple months or more, it may be worth it for you to pick these Charlotte items/characters up this way by buying them at the same time as a gift card, rather than paying for Pro Bundle items you don't want.

Hi Novica, was away from your thread for a while and just got caught up. So sorry to hear about your cat!!! I hope you still find her. Don't give up hope...

I now have a bad cold, so more time for forums. I still haven't set up the new computer because it's a monster with new monitor and I have to physically move a bunch of stuff and possibly build a small shelf system to make room in my ridiculously over-crowded apartment!

But since no one has done it yet, I'm posting a Katie HD for Charlotte render I did on my crappy PC laptop. From the promos, I thought  she was a Barbie-esque blonde model type (which I use a lot for what I do,) but weirdly she didn't seem to look like her promos and I think seems a lot quirkier. None of the makeup is glamorous, just one eyeliner LIE and barely visible eyeshadow choices but lots of lip choices. Using expressions on her make her look completely different too. Which is one thing I miss about V4. I think V4 had the best expressions and it still looked like the same character when she smiled or frowned, purses her lips, whatever... With the newer generations, not sure when it happened, but often just a small expression change make them look like a whole other character. Anyway, here is Katie.

Just editing to add that I didn't use actual described expression dials, used power pose and other eye and mouth dials and wasn't going for a particular emotion, but liked this one. It wasn't until after I really looked at the render that I saw contempt in there. And it might have something to do with all the women finally speaking up about sexual harassment (which I've been a victim of since age 11, being tall) and still ongoing although I am past the age where I thought that would still happen. And I just broke up with my boyfriend who was not a good person. I think her expression actually says all that in a subtle way LOL...

@wonderland  I totally love her confidence- it really shows!  I also have Katie in the cart, she's a great price. I think your render should be a main promo, she's spunky.

And you go, girl! Be with people who treat you like you should be treated, whether it's a boyfriend or people in general.

Mentioning the City Bike and Poses as it's in one of the featured stores. Remember that has the male and female bikes. A good deal.

Thought I'd show off Aisling and the Gemini outfit.

Thanks Novica. So glad women are finally speaking out and getting their power back! And the fact the movie Wonder Woman was a huge success says a lot about positive change and female power!

@Dreamfarmer   Woot! Love that lighting and the posing. "Really? Come over here and we'll see about that."

I got Katie for 82% off  with the PC+ DO coupon. Picked up Shiny SheetZ II (Gen3F) for 65% off as well as Pix Liliana and Witchykin Outfit (Gen8F)  That outfit has a very pretty mauve set of materials for everyday use.

That seriously sucks! I need five $10 gift cards for It's Raining Men prizes. Well, I picked up one yesterday. Only 4 more to go. And no, I don't intend to try getting them all today. LOL... But it was such a disappointment I couldn't pick up $50 worth of GCs at the 15% off.

When Darius 8 came out, there were two addon characters, both by Fred Winkler, with the RedzStudio character sold separately. A number of us mentioned it was  a shame Redz' character wasn't part of the bundle. Maybe Daz heard us.

I caved and bought Charlotte, in large part because of Darwin's new gal. She'll be an instant buy, if I haven't run out of money by then.

I grabbed the Genevieve bundle, too. I only had Genevieve from the bundle. Not overly impressed with the included products, but you never know what will work well when you're kitbashing.

@Wonderland, love your version of Katie. That expression is priceless.

@dreamfarmer, I seldom use outfits like that one, but you really make it look stunning.

@Novica, as always, you're renders look so much better than the promos. You've got me taking a second look at Jane, as if I really need yet another female for my runtime... but she is just so darn cute!

Well... back to the salt mines. Trying to put together another entry for It's Raining Men, this time using all three Sicilian brothers from Darwin. I think there will be a lot of testosterone in that one. I imagine those boys each have a pretty good sense of self.

Thanks for posting your formula for the gift card Novica. I used a similar formula and got a great deal.

Interesting. Well, after buying the gift certificate.... It sent me the double gift certificate thing like it usually does. This time however, the second gift certificate was valid. So my 150 dollar gift certificate became 300 dollars in store credit.

I wrote them to let them know, but looks like the GC process is gltitching.

  • jakibluejakiblue Posts: 7,281

I've had that happen only once, about two years ago. I was sent a $10 g/c as a contest winner - and two codes turned up as always. Both codes worked. I grilled the person who sent them to me to ensure he was NOT charged twice and he double checked and double checked and he wasn't.

57.5% off... That's got to be some kind of record!

Me? I'd have been happy if the glitch allowed multiple gift cards. LOL
