@Novica: I like that hair on Mindie and the character's face. I'm not a fan of the chest size on her however.
Me neither. Even at 15% she still has a bigger chest than I like. Since I try to show default characters, I didn't want to drastically change her.
It's Mom's 90th birthday today, December 7th, 1927. Wow! We didn't turn on the overhead light because Mom's room mate who is 101 years old was sleeping. Sorry it's so grainy. We always have a fun time doing selfies! I just realized other than the "Cousin It" photo of me and my neighbor, you've never met the 61 year old behind the "Novica." Hello!
Happy 90th birthday to your mom!! make her a big cake with lots of candles
We've got that covered :) The big party is Saturday afternoon, my sister and nieces and great-nephews etc are coming from Jacksonville and all the relatives are coming in. About 40 people for that, then just the family for a catered dinner. Mom is excited! :)
Happy Birthday Mom!
Novica, you look far younger than your age and are beautiful!
@icedragonart Oh, thank you! LOL- unlike my characters' renders which are well lit, dim light works wonders for us seniors!
The reason Mom is grinning so big, we had just shot a "bunny ears" one, with me doing the "V" behind her head.
It's going on 1am and I am going down the street to the woods, to see if that pregnant cat was brought in by the family that is feeding her. Going to be in low 30's tonight and rain. Pensacola may see snow flakes. I don't know where I'll put her, but last time she did follow me back home and eat some canned food. I never look for her during the day because she walks in the street. At 1am, it's much safer. After she ate last time, she went back home at some point. So she knows her way. I didn't find her last night, so the man who feeds her (but won't get her fixed/ assume responsibility for her) may have brought her in. Just can't leave a pregnant cat out in the freezing cold, even if she gets out of the rain, it's windy too.
Edit: I'm back, she's not outside. :)
Happy birthday, mom! Much happiness and many more years of happiness.
Happy Birthday to your mum. It was one of my grandson's birthday yesterday, he was seven ☺
Such a sweet picture!! Happy birthday, Mom!!!
Happy birthday to your mom :) 90 is impressive!
Congratulations and Happy Birthday.
It's not hiding by turning off visibility for bones, it's a GeoGraft that hides specified polygons. You can't completely stop it, short of editing the .dsf files, but you can tame it by selecting the base figure and going to the Geometry Editor tool; click on a single polygon that you don't mind being invisible; with the item fitted, right-click>Geometry Assignment>Auto-Hide group for Fitted items; select the clothing from the dialogue; select the clothing, fit to None, fit to the original figure (this is to force a refresh), switch back to your usual choice of tool.
Happy 90th Birthday to your mom!! My mom is 86 and still going strong after two separate bouts with cancer. She's a very strong woman and it looks your mom is also!
I picked up the new Iray Light Probe Kit created by the same PA who made ghost lights. This new light set is especially good for large interior spaces. It's straightforward to use: add the prop, postilion the light spheres manually or use a preset, add the materials as you do for the ghost light sets, and render.
To try them out, I used a scene I already had with ghost lights. The setting is the Tithe Barn which has a large interior with only a few spots for light to enter from the outside, so it renders almost black in Iray. For the light probe render, I removed the ghost lights then used the large room pose for the light probe with the spheres scaled to 188%. The render took 15 minutes which is good for a large interior room in Iray.
With light probe:
The ghost light render uses 7 ghost lights. They originally were in two rooms, this one and an adjacent one. Since they take some time to place manually, I only rotated the group so they were all in this room but did not try to optimize their location. I also increased their intensity to match about the same light as with the light probes. This render too took 15 minutes.
With ghost lights:
As you can see, you can get similar results with the two light sets and render time was similar. In terms of setup time, the light probes are much faster. They are also easier to use than another room lighting rig I have (Architectural Lighting Rig for Iray) which I find hard to adjust the lights if you are looking for even lighting. I think I will be using the light probes a lot as I do many interior scenes.
Thanks all- I will pass your birthday wishes on to Mom.
I've used the Iray Light Probes several times and totally agree- they're so easy to use and KindredArts knows how to make things really functional.
@Novica - A belated Happy Birthday to your Mom.
@RGcincy - interesting to see the two Tithe Barn renders. I have the original Ghost Lights pack but not (yet) the Light Probe Kit - I like the way that one turned out, maybe it will have to go on my list...
Edit: If only I could type accurately!
A happy (belated) birthday to your Mom !
Your mom looks happy, Novica. What a nice way to celebrate a birthday. It is nice that you can be close enough to visit her frequently.
that's correct! i completely blanked on the fact it's a geograft, so my initial response was incorrect. Thanks Richard
What's the difference between the light dome in Iray Ghostlight 2 and this kit? @kindredarts
Happy birthday to your mom, Novica! It's great to see a picture to match your name. You are lovely, dear!
Speaking of Kindred's new Iray Light Probe Kit, I used them here, along with some other lights, in this promo for Natalie G8 by Brahann (Rendo). This is the dForce Fringed Breezy Dress and the i13 Modern Barn.
"Milkmaid"
A quick answer is that the original Ghost Light is a good single directional diffuse light like a reflector (perfect for adding that extra light into a corner, Ghost Light 2 are descreet lights that replicate having light bulbs (the light comes from a tight defined area and perfect for replicating lighting like track lighting) while this produce is for lighting large areas with a diffuse ambient light (perfect for lighting all of the corners of a room). If I may use an analogy, Ghost Light 1 is like a color changing fluorescent light panel, Ghost Light 2 is like a collection of lamps and bulbs, and Iray Light Probe is like a big fluorescent ceiling installation. In a large dark room, G L 1 would look like a diffuse spotlight brightening only the fore figure, G L2 would be a series of lighted areas , and I L P would dimly or brighten up the entire room.
They need to put that in each one's product description. Great visual!
Belated Happy Birthday to your mom, Novica. She looks very good for her age. :)
Happy Birthday to your mum, Novica. What a fantastic smile she's got :) I always enjoy reading your stories (you inadvertently scaring the staff with your grim reaper impression outside your mum's room that time still makes me laugh!) and the drama will get an extra dimension now that we know what the main player looks like! :)
Thank you for the explination. :-) Joseph
I like this image. Good lighting and focus :-) The barn looks like it should too!
Good morning- won't be online today. Mom's party is at 4pm. I kept watching the map last night as the "blue" area kept moving down, and sure enough, at 2:30am to 4am I enjoyed watching the SNOW swirling in the street light and accumulating on my truck! I heard a pathetic "meeewwww" and Shadow, the stray cat I've fed for 4 years, was behind me on the sidewalk, so I think he came out of his heated tent (remember I put a heavy quilt over two huge potted plants, thereby making a tent. Then a stay-on heated pad over lambswool, for a heated bed.) I put more canned food in the tent and went back inside because he won't stay in the tent if anyone is near.
Brrr, it's cold and windy!
