Lol, I have a 55 pound lapdog myself. I will post pictures of her later when I get home unless I can find some on my work computer.
Awesome looking forward to that!
Not my pooch, but one of my favorite pics of a pooch. :D
I agree Pitbulls are a very misunderstood breed
There's no such thing as bad dogs. there are just bad dog owners. A dog, regardless of breed, does just what it is trained to do.
All of the pit bulls that I know are the biggest babies. So loving and generally very happy dogs. Rotties too, they just want to lay on top of you and lick you lol.
You Lookin' At Me?
This is Daisy, our Italian Greyhound. She can be quite the character at times, and keeps us laughing.
This photo was taken several years ago, and she is almost 10 now and still full of spunk and love.
@shadowhawk1 Awwww! My goodness, it's hard to select a favorite image from those. I do love that your avatar looks like a great caricature of you, to start off with. The first image clearly shows the intelligence of the breed- so alert and attentive. The second one, not sure if it's the sea gulls or if they want to fish, but whatever is out there better watch their backs! (or fins, or feathers...) The third one, if you hadn't posted that before, should go viral and clearly shows WHO owns the house. As also demonstrated by the fourth one guarding the toy LOL. The birthday one is adorable and so is the last one with you and your baby.
BTW, yes, I'm posting- because I am sick and didn't want to drive my sons and their friends in an enclosed vehicle for a couple hours. It's really my son's birthday party (early) for him and his friends, so I was fine with his friends picking up him and my other son (and another set of friends picking up the two we were transporting.) So they have no "mom" along which is fine with me and fine with them. If you have a Dave and Busters in your area, you know how energetic/busy the place is (full of arcade and unusual games, huge air hockey table and walls with flashing lights to touch in a given amount of time, steering wheel / racing games in realistic booths that make you feel like you are really on the track, etc. I was going to stay in the restaurant/bar area all day anyway (NO, not drinking LOL) doing some work, so it worked out.
And I get to see these adorable pets! I did go over to the shelter to check on Eevie again, and ran into the woman again who has my crate at her back house with food in it every night. So nice to have made new friends and have something good come out of a bad situation. BTW, it's SEVENTY SEVEN here today, one degree off of breaking the entire record today. So Eevie isn't "out in the cold."
Keep the pics coming, I'm sitting here sniffling and blowing my nose (God bless Puffs with lotion. If you haven't tried those, it's like silk caressing your face, I'm not kidding!) but enjoying the animals!
Here's a few of mine, trying to remember what got Instagramed vs what I posted here, sorry if there is a Stetson repeat. He's the Morgan who loves blackberries, pears, grapes, apples, and carrots. And Cantering Chef cookies. The second one is a special effect (Photoshop Plugin) that I can't remember what I used, as this was last year. You can really tell on the wood planks in the background and the sharpness of the mane strands. His head looks more square because he has his winter fuzz/beard. The first one is his trimmed jawline, aka, summer. The third one is one of my favorites, because it's an "imperfect" shot of the light coming in and really making his body seems almost gray, whereas his head stays in shadow.
Also thought I'd show what Morgan owners deal with on a weekly basis. Known for their long mane and tails, they are also known for their THICK mane and tails. Showsheen and Infusion23 are your friends. (Infusion23 is for people, btw, and really keeps your ends from splitting.) Then Argan Oil and Pantene Mousse to add to the shine.
And Shadowhawk1, thought you'd like to see our resident boxer at the ranch. This is Ichabod, affectionately known as ICKY, who helped the hired hands get the horses their hay every morning last year. She is so funny, riding along on the tractor, in the lap of the driver! Here, she is waiting patiently for him to come so they can get started. Next, doing what Boxers apparently do best- guarding her toy, aka, stick. Oh man, THAT BOXER FACE. I just love her name too! So funny to see a big, muscular man in a booming voice calling his dog and saying, "Come on Icky."
I'll find some pics of my dogs in a few minutes.
Okay, so far we have poodles, boxers, a fun pitbull (and as you'll recall, when my next door neighbor's dog got killed, the pitbull was the dog that was well behaved and did NOT attack the other two small dogs right in front of his face. (And one was smaller than a rabbit.) So +1 many times over on the kudos to that breed.) So next we have adorable Daisy, the Italian Greyhound. @dawnblade the first thing I thought of, due to the refined and elegant nature of greyhounds (always pictured with Kings and Queens) was that the porcelain bowl in the background belonged to Daisy and she looks like she had just finished her afternoon snackie.
"I'm done now, Charles. You can clear the table."
Trying to catch up and hope I got all this copied correctly. Got my tabs mixed up!
@IceDragonArt Thanks so much! Yes, it is amazing how much our pets love us. My daugher says that dogs are God spelled backward and give us a small idea of God's unconditional love. Because they do love us unconditionally, no matter our status or looks, etc.
@Stormlyght Thank you! They are definitely bonding. Eli has really perked up. :)
@Serene Night Thank you. They are a bit indulged. I love all dogs, too. Just so many neat personalities!
@Novica Thank you. We still miss Julius, but it's great that Eli is finding comfort in Josef. Stetson is SO gorgeous and immaculate. He should be a spokesman and in a commercial for haircare products! And Icky is adorable! Love boxers! And cool idea to see all these pets. What a great way to bring smiles to the thread! So enjoying all the pix and sharing!
@shadowhawk1 So adorable! They look like they have awesome personalities and they are simply gorgeous. Love, love boxers! And, yes, that's a lot of lap dog. We have a similar problem, and have gotten lectures from the furniture repair guy on why recliner footrests were not made to support 70-pound-plus dogs masquerading as lapdogs. (I'm pretty sure we'll never give up the lapdog component, despite furniture repairs.)
@Odaa The miniature Poodles that I've been around were fantastically intelligent and had great personalities. The Standard Poodle is the original dog (water retriever), and it seems to me it's the toys that more often have picky personalities. (Of course, if I were that small and easily stepped on and broken, I'd be nervous, too!) But miniatures and standards are usually awesome dogs. I've met toys that were awesome also, so not to disparage that size totally. Part of the problem is the frou frou lions clip that Poodles are required to show in. (I think that's changing.) We do a modified kennel clip with short ears and short tail, which we think looks much nicer.
@Valandar Oh, my goodness. So true! So many dogs are so delicate around children, allow all sorts of climbing and chewing, and generally protect them as their own. So cool to see a pitbull shown for its good personality when raised properly. And way too cute!!!!
@Chohole Hear, hear!!! So, so true!
@dawnblade Way too cute!!!! Italian Greyhounds have such personality and spunk. What joygivers!!! And they always seem like the classiest dogs around!
This is Ella. She is an Aussie. She is about 12 1/2 and can still run 2 and half miles with me. And will still run full speed after a squirrel in the yard as well lol. She was born in our house, we owned her parent who are sadly gone. And the last one is of the cat, he is 15 years old and we have had him since he was bout 4 weeks old from the pound. He wasn't even wheaned. And I have no idea why they are loading sideways....
@IceDragonArt Ella has such an expressive and intelligent face; love that laugh! :) And, wow! That's incredible health and vigor! And so cool that you've had her since she was born. Did you have to bottle-feed your cat? That's so young, and so awesome that you rescued him. And that beautiful long fur.
@icedragonart Hope you don't mind, I flipped most of them for you and brightened your cat a bit so he could be more easily seen. (Edit- you beat me to it. But I'll just leave them here. I thought you might be posting from work.) GORGEOUS coat on the cat and the dog! Ella's eyes are amazing, and those dogs are ultra smart. It sure shows. I wonder what she's plotting next....
"You don't really NEED that treat...while I really DO."
Thanks! Lol I was just editing them so they would be flipped right side lol.
Yes she is super smart and she is most likely thinking about how to pry some pizza crust out of my husband at the moment lol. They need a LOT of exercise so they aren't for everyone. Thankfully, we have a fenced a yard..
Dragon (the cat) was all little stick legs, covered in fleas, we washed him in Dawn because he was too little for any flea medicine. We actually came home with two kittens, Drake was a couple months older than Dragon and he taught him how to clean himself and how to use the cat box. We started him on wet food watered down. Sadly, Drake passed away a couple years ago, he was about 12 1/2. He had thyroid issues for a couple of years and then had some kind of cancer. This is Drake.
Here's a tip for anyone who finds ultra-young cats or dogs covered in fleas- Phisoderm. The facial cleansing LOTION (no alcohol.) My vet from Auburn (a well respected vet school) was amazed when I brought in a teeny kitten who I had bathed in that- all fleas (literally about 400 of them) were dead. A Department of Transportation worker and her crew found the abandoned kittens who were less than two weeks old, and they were covered with the pests. All I had was the Phisoderm (remember, it comes in the green bottle?) and it worked like a charm. It's rather hard to find now- you'd have to look at the non-alcohol ones, or get the bath soap bars. This was the white lotion that we all used back in the 70's, 80's. Hypoallergenic.
@icedragonart Drake looks fat and happy in that picture, it's obvious he had great caretakers. Perhaps some of your husband's pizza found its way to kitty.....?
LOL I'm trying to read your Be Nice, Or Go sign. What does it say?
... away
Yes, be nice or go away lol. The funny thing is, Drake was not interested in people food but man, he did love some kitty treats lol.
Daisy looks like she is very sassy and happy! And I've always though Stetson was a gorgeous horse. And another lovey boxer too!
@simonJM Okay, make me look like an idiot. LOL, I looked at that twice and thought it was A L L and couldn't get past that.
Vittles Time!
Daisy with one of her favorite toys, tail wagging, and watching attentively as vittles are prepared!
Hi,
I love seeing everyone's pets! It makes the heart feel good .
I'll share a few pics of my resident furries.
Stormy is my puppy (Black-tri Australian Shepherd). She's very busy.
Reggie is a rescue, he's approximately seven-years old. He has been with us for a little over a year and we learned recently that he hates snow. He adores my son, so he stayed long enough for us to take a quick picture.
Hana is our thirteen-year old matriarch (Blue merle Australian Shepherd). I stole her picture collage from my Instagram account.
Jerzy, also know as "Bean," rules them all...She is a twelve-year old Schipperke who likes to boss around the next door neighbor's longhorn calves.
My kitty, Yoda, was seventeen in the picture. We had to say goodbye shortly after that photo. We miss having a cat in the house.
Trish
That would be a fun name for a fat dog....Vittles! Daisy looks like she'd like to toss it and play.
Okay, once upon a time there was a dog named... Something. Don't know what. But there was a veterinarian at the Library, named Dr. Stephenson. She couldn't help but notice this collie mix waiting at the door, wanting in. The library staff then told her sadly the dog had come there for several days, just waiting. Dr. Stephenson took him to the high kill county shelter with the firm agreement that he couldn't be put to sleep, and she would do pro bono vet work in return.
Enter Cathie to the shelter. Her other rescue dog had just died. A rescue group had already selected her to get a purebred Keeshond PUPPY (out of 33 applicants) because she was a stay-at-home-artist. (See, it does pay! Just not in money.) Cathie told the group she wanted to first check the shelter and if she couldn't find a dog (yeah, right) that she would adopt the Keeshond. (look up those puppies. Drool. VERY rare in rescue.) Well, walking down the aisle of the kennels, Cathie saw a collie mix turn his head and nudge the white terrier next to him (who was raised up on the kennel wire) so the terrier plopped over and couldn't steal the attention. Then the collie mix (Something) sat down and grinned. Very well behaved. "That wasn't very nice," Cathie told him. Something still grinned.
Cathie walked down the entire aisle, and walking back, Something hadn't moved an inch and was still looking very pleased wtih himself. "Okay buddy, you're it."
And Something became Geico, because Cathie "Saved a bunch of money by switching to a shelter dog." (For overseas folks, the advertisements are "I saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico." Look up the commercials on YouTube.)
Geico is 12-14 years old. Adopt, Don't Shop. Shelter/Rescue dogs are great pets!
And the story doesn't end there. Cathie took Geico to her vet to have him fixed. That vet....Dr. Stephenson!
Second, Duvee (from a dog rescue group, purebred Pekingese) and Geico. Yes, they each have their own bed.
Third, Duvee as a puppy. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment, with brushing that horse and these dogs. But these aren't all of them. More on that later! Want to see more of yours!
@stormlyght Oh what a magnificent collection of critters! Is your forum named based on Stormy? Stormy looks very athletic (and of course would have a lot of energy with that breed.) LOL Reggie looks like he is in the most DIRE situation! Poor thing, guess you'll have to get snow boots!
Hana looks like a Disney dog, straight out of a movie. The patterning on her ear is fantastic. I've never owned a Schipperke but was interested in them years ago. My work schedule at that time wouldn't let me really have a dog (then a stray showed up at the barn, and my plans went downhill. She was a Bearded Collie (aka, yep, more long hair.) What's the personality of Schipperke dogs in general, are they all take-charge type of dogs? Love the confidence. (Bet the cows don't.)
Yoda is pretty- is that a flame point Siamese? So glad you got a good picture of her while you had her. And she looks very content!
Hi,
Thank you @Novica! Our household is governed by bossy critters No, my forum name isn't based off of her. We decided to name her that because every timIt e we drove to visit the breeder, our return trip we would inevitably drive through a nasty storm. Three different visits to view puppies, round trip was four hours, each trip it stormed. Our final trip we picked her up. It rained and hailed the entire way home. At that point, we just decided to name her "Stormy."
Yes, Stormy is very athletic. She will eventually be my agility dog when she grows into herself and matures. I introduce the equipment while they are puppies and make it fun and not scary. I personally do not start training my dogs for competition (agility) until they are at least two.
Reggie loves my son but he prefers me and so he was quite distraught that he was asked to stay put in the wet, fluffy stuff so that I could take his picture He's never seen snow. My area of Texas generally gets some ice storms but snow is not a common thing during the winter.
Hana is actually short for Hanabi (a type of firecracker). She could do anything when she was younger.
Schipperke's are probably right up there with being one of the busiest dog breeds. They act like a cat (they climb, are curious and get into everything) and old age doesn't seem to slow them down a bit. She is extremely bright, likes to "talk" and is generally an all around clown. All of my dogs defer to her. She steals their bones, their dog beds and their squeaky toys.
Yoda was a flame-point siamese. He was a wonderful cat. He would play fetch just like a dog and would torment our dogs by stealing their toys and depositing them in areas where they couldn't be retrieved.

Loving the pet photos and comments! Here is a bad-girl story about Daisy when she was a puppy: We were getting ready for a vacation, and our brand new passports and travel brochures were sitting on that coffee table. I left the room to work on my computer, as my wife was still playing with Daisy. Not long afterwards, my wife joins me in the home office and boots up her computer.
I'm busy pounding away at the keyboard, looked over at my wife periodically, and thought: "But what about Daisy?" I couldn't get it out of my head, so I got up and went into the living room to check on her. "Oh, what's that you're chewing on, little pup? Noooo! That's my new passport!!!!!!!!!!"
Fortunately, she didn't have time to shred any of the pages, but her sharp little puppy teeth left marks that are still in the cover of my passport! Thankfully, I didn't have any issues traveling with a not-so-perfect passport.
Your dogs are adorable!
Trish
She's precious!
Trish
This is our telemna when she was a kit. The smartest ferret we've had and a real hugger. The video was shot a long tie ago with poor lighting and kibble on the carpet, but she loved to play her piano
Ella looks like she's in awesome shape for twelve! So does your kitty.
Trish
I wish my hair was as lustrous and healthy as Stetson's! He's very handsome.
Trish
It looks like you caught Miss Daisy in the act of doing something she shouldn't. Italian Greyhounds are a blast. I haven't had one in several years but they are a lot of fun.
