Same here, but I still trigger it now and again and it is quite annoying and after the 20th time, things start getting slammed on the desk. We have reported it as a common annoyance to users
All it needs, is to make it the same as the "Account" menu, opens only when one clicks at the menu title
The new notification method is a terrible UI mistake, especially compared to the orange banners. The bell itself has its own issue (and we'll get there), but the notification announcement itself is deeply problematic. Basically, you have a menu bar with very small gray text on black background (rather visual-accessibility hostile, that), and the notification window itself is now ... a box with black background with gray text that pops down to mostly cover the end of the menu bar. If you're not actively looking at that corner, you may not notice that the notification even exists. This is complicated by the fact that as soon as you start scrolling down the page, the notification window closes and doesn't come back, even though the menu bar itself remains. There have been notifications the past two days, and each time, I only realize that something is there because the notification closes, and I suddenly think, "Wait, was something there?"
Putting the notification bell, with a teeny tiny blue number, next to the shop cart, with its own teeny tiny blue number, was also not a good design decision. It's very easy for someone to think they're just seeing the cart number when they're seeing the notification.
The javascript for the toggle needs to be recoded. The Notification bell is malfunctioning or works poorly . The message bell indicated 1 message. When I clicked the bell, the 1 (indicator) disappeared yet the message/offer popped up. I did not close the offer popup window but did open the offer in a new window. I clicked the bell again and it populated "you currently have no notifications", yet when I clicked Account>Messages it shows I actually have 2 messages. The count is wrong. It should count the messages correctly, and of course the javascript for the message "... no notifications" is incorrect. Was it erroniously coded to reset the count to zero if viewed?
I do find the massive drop downs irritating, especially when reading the forums. It is too easy to have most of the screen taken up with navigation I don't think I need.
^All of this.
Also, once the notification closes it leads you to think that you no longer have any messages. Rght now if I click on the bell, I have no notifications. If I go into my messages, I have a message that I completely forgot about until I just checked. Confusing.
I think this is how it is supposed to work. If you have email, after you view it, your email client will no longer show that you have new message...even though the email may still be there. I haven't checked, but if it's not there, the notices should have a way to mark a message as "Unread". Then the bell would show a number above zero again. --- a suggestion for the developer team.
Quick question may have been answered but....
How do you search the forum now? If I'm not mistaken the search at the top used to change from store to forum (when inside the forum) but seems to stay as store?
I notice that the drop-down menu behaviour has changed. The first time you cross over the Shop/Technology/Community area, the graphic menu does not immediately drop down, or drop down at all (ETA: if you do not move to another heading). The second time you cross over it, it drops immediately, like before, and keeps doing that. You have to change page, or refresh the page (F5), to get the initial status back (no drop-down menu). A step in the right direction, but not quite there.
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/search - we assume it wasn't meant to vanish, and will be put back.
Why does the pop up menu take OVER TWO THIRDS OF THE SCREEN?!?!
If I hover my mouse anywhere near the boxes at the top, this massive menu pops and I have to move all.the.way.down to make this obtrusive menu go away. It is a major pain.
Make it go away! You can do this in a fraction of the space, people. I do not need a giant portrait telling me what a forum or gallery is.
The other changes I am not sure about. This pop up gets in the way so much that it overshadows everything else. I keep a lot of tabs open in my browser. Well, that is a problem with Daz now. Every time I click a tab just moving my mouse over these stupid boxes triggers the pop up, and I have to move my mouse all.the.way.down again to make it go away.
Daz is actively making my browsing experience worse.
Worse is the opposite of better!
...yeah that reminds me when Microsoft introduced that ridiculous "ribbon" concept at the top of the page in all Office software. The old menu bar worked fine, it didn't need "fixing". I found the Ribbon to not only waste space but was more cumbersome and actually slower to use.
Another small but annoying change the in the forums is the blue thread/forum title bar doesn't remain at the top of the window when you move further down the page like it used to. so when you are at the end of a thread you can click and be back on the forum contents or mainforums list without having to scroll to the top first.
Just fire whoever is doing this. You guys have made what was a simple two click navigation into a multi-level annoying it takes to frigging long too get to where I want to go. Why not keep the nav menu as it was, and improve on the search functionality. Your menu has too many drill downs, too many clicks and sub-menues. KISS is what you guys need to return to.
EDIT. This new nav menu makes me want to rip my hair out. I hate this experience. I was on the fence to renewing the DAZ+ and calling it a day. I wish I had listened to my gut and quit and am leaning in an adios to DAZ. I think I am coming to the end of a road. I truly believe DAZ cares and is a great company, but I question the mental attitude of the coders and web designers. Do they shop often? Are they open minded or anal. Do they have foresight or are they stuck in the moment trying to make lemons out of lemonade without the lemons. I am a person who is used to change. I have no problem adapting to chaos. But this so-o-o-o user-unfriendly. Drop down menus suck for search engines and cause friction. Not to mention the left to right natural navigation of the eye.
...+1
Oh yeah and I keep getting signed out of the forums every time even though I have the "keep me signed in" box checked. Frustrating particularly when I've been away for a day or two. I click on a thread I've been following that has a number of new responses (sometimes a pager or more), only to be signed out, and have to manually navigate to the first new post in that thread after signing back in.
Going to give me a bad case of CTS with all this extra scrolling around.
Why is the categories filter hidden?
It worked for awhile and I can see it everyime a page loads or I refresh a page but then it gets hidden when the page is done loading.
Yes, it is.
It's a bug.
Currently the workaround is to open the message in your messages inbox, it should then disappear from notifications.
I haven't read every comment, but for me there are two new annoyances amongst the fixes.
1) The home page top menu bar with the three text links "SHOP TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITY" are way too fast reacting when you pass your cursor over one while trying to get to a browser tab or other browser options or applications at the top. If you're determined to keep those big wide pop-ups obstructing half the page, put a half-second timer on the reaction.
2) The "FORUM" button is at the bottom of my screen which means I have to span the entire height of my screen to get to it. Not as convenient as the old way which still required two clicks but at least they were within an inch or so of each other.
The menu bar currently appears to be unwell. The sideways "Click to open" option is appearing on all three menus for me, Shop, Technology and Community. Currently using most recent version of Firefox on Windows 10.
EDIT: OK, I see what it's doing, although I don't know why. Whichever menu you actually have open turns "Click to open" sideways. For "Shop", that's ... well not fine, exactly, but it doesn't hurt anything because the menu selection list is long enough that the text doesn't overlay anything. For both Technology ad Community, those menu lists are much shorter, so it overlays the other menus' "Click to open" text.
Also, why have a search box in the menu AND a search option on the end of the menu bar itself? It would work best to pick one or the other (the end of the menu bar option, preferably, as you can actually see that one without clicking on anything else).
...you used to be able to simply right click on the "Store" link in the old menu and open it in another tab, Now if you do the same you get a tab that reads "aboutblanl#blocked". If you simply click on it the slide out menu opens.. After that you can right click on "Shop All" to open the store in a second tab which adds an extra layer. That is not an "upgrade" as upgrades are supposed to make operations more efficient. and simpler.
+1 to this. I have to click at least twice now to get to the main store page from forums now. It's very annoying. :(
I have changed my mind. The new "improvements" have really helped adjust my budget for spending at DAZ since I spend a lot less time visiting the store. It's like a casino hosting gamblers anonymus sessions among all the gambling tables.
BRAVO DAZ, for showing the courage to help your customers spend less at the DAZ store. Well done chaps!
Pretty much have to agree.I keep triggering that massive dark drop-down when I'm running thhe mouse up; invariably at this point I just continuue to the 'x' on the tab and click it.
Is it something to do with this new layout or did we always have to scroll back to the top of the forum page to be able to see the blue forum title bar? I mean once you are in a thread like this one. Anyhow, would it be too much of an ask to have that blue Forum menu bar fixed to the top just under the DAZ3D black menu bar?
It was not always like that.
how do we make a notification go away?
OK solved
had to click the box and actually go to Luthbellina's catalogue
How can we do a search in the forums?
As [poor] as the old way was, at least there was something, and I could work around the flaws to (maybe, hopefully, possibly, but more unlikely) get what info I needed.
Now, there's simply NO option for doing a search of the forums! -- Or, if there is, it is quite cleverly hidden
it's been linked a few times in this thread but I can understand you not finding it easy to go back with that unstuck blue navigation bar

Many thanks!
