I personally find them annoying because you have to actively go look every 3 hours to see if "THIS" time will actually be something you might be interested in at a price you are interested in. To me it feels gimicky. Instead of stupid 3 hour rotation of 4 items give me a personal discount on 32 targeted items that I can look at all at once, then forget about if the offers are lame for the rest of the day.
I didn't even realize this Lightning thing was still going on. So I took a look. I have 4 Genesis 8 things right now.
That explains it, as I'm the same... During MM, I kept buying stuff released before June 2018 because it had the deepest discount and now they think I'm in love with old dusty stuff...
I aways check the weekly free stuff and buy those even if I don't care about them because they are free and maybe one odd day I will have a use for them.
It could be that there are newbies wanting to try 3d and buy cheaper items such as those of older generations. I remember when I bought a lot of V4 M4 items when G3 was a hot item. Now they are somewhat useless because of Iray and dforce. The files are mainly cr2 and obj and not duf. Shaders can be use for surfaces but the conformity of the old outfits does not work well with newer generations. Smooth modifiers and subD conversion is a necessity, which in itself is time consuming.
I have plenty of G8 items in my lightning deals.
My impression is that it's not much of an algorithm at all and it's just random DAZ originals you don't already own.
Ah now that would explain it, but definitely an oversight if so, I'll pick up the free stuff if there's a 5% chance i'll use it, (barely have) but that doesn't mean i'll drop $6 on something from 10 years ago
I've stopped buying that old free stuff. It is just clutter and bloat for me. I don't even install the very old stuff I already own. V4 and M4 and most Genesis stuff is purged from my installation. I don't want more of it. Muck is an exception. I have a soft spot in my heart for Muck, even though he doesn't work well in Iray because of the heavy use of detailed displacement.

Nice to see some G3 stuff also amongst them, although G8 stuff would be better.
I buy all the free stuff because I don't want them to clutter the store listing when I'm sorting lowest to highest.
Having them in my Product Library is no problem, as I can just leave them there and not download them. Maybe there is some use for some of them at one point, but if there isn't, so what.
To me at least they were new and i checked the last days...

...two days on the same character theme? I thought the store hadn't "rolled over" yet until I got the Daz newsletter email.
Oh, and G9 items are apparently now in the Daz+ category as well. Just a matter of time I guess before they also end up as the monthly/weekly Daz+ freebie. This my finally be my last annual membership.
I don't know if it changes much, but the newest G9 Daz item also has G8 and G8.1 included. Too bad they didn't advertise it. Edit: NVM. I must have misread something somewhere. They both appear to only be G9. I need stronger glasses.
As for monthly and weekly freebies, from what I've seen (less than a year of membership), they're most often props or environments, so not bound to any particular generation. I think Daz will keep it this way, because otherwise the value of the membership could fall for many paying users (like yourself).
Not true! I just picked up an outfit, a texture for another outfit, two characters, an expressions pack, and a color expansion for a hair I had.

I thought the bi-weekly freebies was the subject...sorry. Yes, the weekly and monthly ones are often props like sci-fi ships and things or garden tools or environments or other non-specific items.

yhere are free items in the catalog, not DAZ + free items. The main store page. Filter by price- Low to high.
...still, one of the incentives is Daz+ items are sold for a much lower price to members than non members. For those not interested in G9 (and it seems there are quite a few of us) for whatever reason (mine primarily being the hefty investment it would need to make it as useful as G8) particularly at the increased prices) it means fewer Daz+ priced items to choose from.
Also other than the first Daz+ Easter Egg freebie offer, the ones that followed have been for G9.
I too didn't feel like a need to hop into another generation of 3d model but I thought may be a G9 character will be free at the end of the Daz + easter eggs freebie offer. That would make us buy outfits, hairs, poses, and more characters. Seems like a cycle that will not end unless we ignore free G9 character and prefer just using G8 in most of our renders.
It does seem lately the "weekly" freebies have been changing every week.
while lightning hasn't hit me yet with it's badly curated choices, the 60% Featured Artist's items flash sale sold me a wishlist item
So far I haven't found anything in this Lightning Sale that would have interested me, but of course I don't check the offers every three hours.
I would like it if the algorithm would search my wishlist and make me offers on this... :-D
the tokens dont work with the DAZ+ PA coupon? I have a couple things from the flash sale. The coupon works by itself. The tokens work by themselves. If I try to add the coupon after the tokens, it says invalid. If I add the coupon and then the Tokens, it deletes the coupon.
I sometimes wonder if the sale algorithm generally looks at my W/L and excludes the items on it!
The tokens and DAZ+ coupons are useable together. However, are you by chance trying to use the 'SAVE6' coupon and the tokens reduce the cost of elibible items to less than $18? In that case the 'SAVE6' coupon (which requires $18 of non-new items) would no longer be applicable.
You have to find $18 worth stuff calculating the price after the tokens are applied. Then with still having $18 worth of stuff in your cart, you can apply the coupon.

Having hard time finding stuff to use the tokens on... 85% off at best with the 40% token discount and often the items have been on sale for less in the past.
