Hummmmmmm... Sean Connery has always been my heart throb at any age!  I hope he doesn't mind if I 'grab'em whilst he's hot!  lol

Yep, I already put Mr. Connery in my cart. I don't even normally buy characters, except when buying bundles.

Heads-up: He has an editorial license.

Thanks for the heads up... I took him out of my cart :(  I don't understand the license .. and from what I DO understand we can't even use him for contests here at Daz.... so I'll not grab him... the hair... or the expressions  :(  Sorry Sean!

Sadly, after much consideration, I too am removing these items. I am currently not aiming to make money off this hobby. Frankly, at present, I'm buying too much stuff to even have time to make art for fun. OK, seriously, though, I am working on a book series, and what if I unthinkingly used one of those hair items in an illustration that sees the light of day? IRL, I cross paths with IP law enough to know that it's a beast, and I don't want any part of that.

    Sad. The stuff looks beautiful.

so sad... but probably the best choice... I do mostly renders for the contests here at Daz and it may stop me from winning... (if... by a miracle THAT happens... lol)

I must say Deapsea's Fantasy Owl look might fine. https://www.daz3d.com/ds-fantasy-owl

Looks like a barn owl to me.

I'm glad to see that there were shaders from Atenais again yesterday.

I have loved their textures and shaders since I discovered them at R'rosity a long time ago.

Taivaallinen appears to be based on the crematorium in Berlin. Not entirely sure how to feel about that. Why not, I guess?

Anything can be used as inspiration these days... I'm sure no disrespect was meant.  Beautiful crematorium in Berlin... thank you for sharing the linky Hylas :)

Yeah... I think it kind of tip-toes right up to the line of being in poor taste, but manages to not cross it.

Now, where is Victoria in her battle-bikini?

I might agree with that if the product text disclosed what it actually is. But it doesn't.

Yeah, that part's a little odd, innit?

It looks like it would make a great art museum. But I could be biased because the one in my city, the Everson Museum of Art, is also concrete, designed by I.M.Pei.

I was going to use it in a way that I now believe would have been disrespectful. I didn't know it was based on a real place, until Hylas posted the information. After reading that Krematorium Berlin-Baumschulenweg was built in 1942 for cremating human remains from the Nazi concentration camps and ghettos of Europe, I think I will remove it from my cart. I wouldn't feel right using it for anything now.

According to German Wikipedia, the crematorium was originally built in 1911 (so before the Nazis took over) as an ordinary crematorium. Then the Nazis indeed used it for cremating human remains from concentration camps. The site was heavily damaged during WWII, rebuilt in the 50es, and demolished in the 90es.

The version of the crematorium that Taivaallinen is based on was built in 1999 and is still being used as a crematorium today. My understanding is that it's generally not associated with Nazi history.

The crematorium from barbult's link appears to be a different building all together, if I understand it correctly. It was built by the Nazis and today serves as historical site of remembrance. It's a bit confusing and I'm not 100% certain, if someone has more insight please share.

That is confusing. I'll just steer clear to avoid misunderstanding and misuse. I no longer have it in my cart.

Thought about buying the City Bike, but I'd be using it with G8M. I know I could do it, but I don't have an immediate need for it and it feels like the artist doesn't really want me to buy it for use with males, so I'll pass.

BTW, the entire reason why I recognised the building is the 2005 SciFi movie Aeon Flux. The movie was overall pretty bad but its set design was inspired. I recall watching a DVD featurette (remember those?) where the director explained that their budget for sets and CGI was fairly limited so they shot the movie on site at various locations in Berlin. And one of the scenes was shot at the crematorium. I suppose if the crematorium agreed to having a pulpy SciFi movie shot there it's also ok to use it for DAZ renders?

well, its kind of a mystery, but crematory it is. I think it just doesn;t feel right to use it overall. What type of scene? I'm deleting it from my cart.

  • think it's got a Finnish name for celestial according to Google so could be repurposed as some sort of heavenly portal where one transends to a higher alien existance leaving ashes to dupe the ones left behind until it's their turn

I had a scary feeling about this model; that's why I didn't buy it. Strange. Yet the architecture that FWDesign drew inspiration from is not from the Nazi era at all. But the architects have succeeded in designing a building that conveys a sense of the shameful 'use' of the original crematorium. This has even carried over to the model.

I also checked out without it.

I would have translated Taivaallinen as heavenly, but celestial probably fits the purpose better.

smiley I would love to live in a version of this or this house with bare, grey concrete interior walls. I will concede that bare concrete often doesn't look great from the outside but for interiors I find it really beautiful!

Yes, but the drunk tank upstairs at Stonehurst House bothers me a bit.... ;-)  The house itself is great, as is Stonemason's 'Contemporary Living'.

I did buy it without the knowledge of the background of the piece. But when I saw it, I had an echo to a memorial in the United States of the black people who were lynched. My thought was to use it as a memorial of an awful moment in our human existance and a place for rememberance for the dead and healing. It will be one of my sets that may get limited use and be private.

For others, consider using limited segments of the set as a sci-fi location, not showing a clear view of the architecture.

Another problematic item today is the excavator - I'm not seeing any indication of operator controls in the tab. For that matter, I'm not sure I'm seeing a seat in the cab.

I agree it is very suttle.

But try to llok at the yellow one in this picture.

The arm is clearly rigged, but I was thinking if you can rotate the part holding the tool.

There is certainyl a seat, it's in line front-back with the arm so you need a side view looking from the non-arm side. I think there might also be a control lever at least, but that is harder to be sure of.

I can see a control lever on the armrest and foot pedals on the floor

I got it too... I love it in pieces parts.  Sci-fi comes to mind for me too... ;)
