There is a real nice one if your willing to do a little bit of work, it is free, but its also made for GTA San Andreas, so it comes in a dff file, and would have to be reformatted to an obj.

I set up this scene in my 3D infancy--some 7 or 8 months ago now--but I still kind of like the overall effect...and I freakin' love that '58 Impala.

Very nicely done, it looks like Schurby's Impala, I have the same model, great car to work with for sure..

Thanks! It is Schurby's Impala. Like his other vehicles it's very well done--though the doors are hung slightly askew and the scale needs adjusting for DS. As near as I can reckon, 158% brings it up to the dimensions of the real thing.

Was a while since I posted something here *smiles* Not much seen by the bike, but hopefully it still counts :)

For the (Aussie) Holden Monaro lovers.

I posted this image at Rendo in January, with a model converted from a Lightwave object ( www.dmi-3d.net/ ). You may notice problems with some of the textures, and that's because I mostly suck at texturing.

For non Australians, Holden is part of General Motors Corp. The cars shown here were rebadged and sold in the USA as Pontiac G8's. General Motors Holden no longer manufactures cars, and now only assembles imported vehicles.

These remind me of the famous George Barris Sony And Cher Mustangs. Remember them?

The 3dcadbrowser site makes you register first, it asks a lot of questions about you and your addressand phone. After you register, you go to the selection page and choose a model to download. Then it ask you what format you want. this all takes a while to do. Then after it takes you to the page to download the model, it tells you " you do not have enough credits to download this model. Please upgrade your account to get it." So, you go to the page to upgrade your account and the only thing it offers you is a pay account starting with a minimum fee of $150.00 and more even. This is just a racket to get you to pay for the models. I have seen most all of these models before on the internet for free. Some are very low poly and no quality. This kind of trickery just pisses me off. You really should take this link down. I could get no free models there and I am not paying their outrageous prices for their junk. Just a heads up!

I wasn't aware of that it just came up in a search for a free 69 charger model

This GTA conversion drove me nuts - really bad case of weird material zones and flipped normals... Still after much hair-pulling, this was the result

...yeah just don't have the modelling skills to fix stuff like that.

Really pushing for native .3ds import for Daz.as there are a lot of nice free vehicles in that format.

Looks like there are still a few flipped normals on that Cougar!

probably -- its a real mess....the door was a particular problem.. I gave up at that stage.... There has to be a better way to fix this stuff..

  • GLWoodardGLWoodard Posts: 3,335

What program did you use for importing it into?

  • GLWoodardGLWoodard Posts: 3,335

What it looks like is you didn't get rid of all the DAM files, (damage) that would explain the crumpled fenders.

  • hacsarthacsart Posts: 2,025

I Pulled it into Blender (god I hate Blender!)... and I'm pretty sure I got rid of the dam files .. Is there any way to show what normals need flipping ? I'll try a re-import/export..

  • GLWoodardGLWoodard Posts: 3,335

You can do a hook and loop on the edges and see if that helps, I would imagine there is a way to flip the normals, but I've never had to in Blender, I wasn't even able to open the Cougar.

  • hacsarthacsart Posts: 2,025

I guess its time to pass on that model.. too bad - it had lots opf potential...

  • GLWoodardGLWoodard Posts: 3,335

I wish I could have opened that one, I tried but was unable to, it does look like its got lots of potential alright.
