I think the brussels need to be darker. They look a bit light for cooked brussels. I will add something to the diffuse. you know what would be cool? A 'singed' shader. Then you could give things a slight cooked look. I will try the only shader I have.... "add some dirt."
Hmm. The 'add some dirt' shaders might work for adding some browning to the texture of the food. We will see.... I will mess around after I go server dinner and do the dishes!
Oh my gosh that turkey platter looks good too bad I am vegan now. I think the brussel sprouts look fine but the pears & apples flesh could use a bit of yellowing and oxidation.
Yeah I agree about the Oxidiation thanks for the idea! I thought they looked a bit light.
Here are two versions. I added Peas and Carrots to the stuffing of the turkey, and one turkey is 'blackened' using the touch of dirt shader. I tried to blacken the other grilled vegetables but it didn't improve them. I think I prefer the less blackened version. Now I'm going to try to lighten up the oxidation slightly.
That's looking really good. I prefer the lighter version as well, but both are good. Oooh how about a blackened version with smoke and someone burned the TG turkey scene, lol
Yeah I like the light one too. I wanted to show Boyd with an uncooked turkey having a bit of a kitchen fail but could find a good uncooked one.... hmmm...
a burned one does have potential. Poor Boyd. It is his turn to cook the turkey.....
Does your turkey have bump or displacement maps? If so, use the Touch of Dirt controls to copy them to the geometry shell. Your blackening looks a little flat and shiny.
I tried. I couldn't discern a difference. So I chose a different dirt shader. This one is more of a rusty color.
Ew, that reminds me before I was vegetarian I ate a pigeon one. It tasted like chicken basically but tiny. Your platter is much improved. We used to cook sheet pans full of slice bacon for the breakfast rush when I was a busboy. So good....
That sounds yummy! Everything tastes better with bacon. Although in this case, I'm not sure what good 4 pieces of bacon do for the flavor, I suspect that is all that survived the cooking.
I like how the turkey platter is coming along. I think the dForce with the lettuce leaves really make it look more realistic. I like the slightly lighter version of the turkey, too.
Yes, the lighter version of the turkey does look better.
I like that rustier color on the turkey it looks pretty darn realistic.
Agreed. The lighter version is what I will use unless inspiration and some other idea comes along, I will now attempt to do a few more dishes for the table and we are done. Dforce food is really rather fun. Hopefully we’ll get the opportunity to play with that more in the future as more items come out with that capability. It does help that the items are tiny so dforce moves them quickly along
If that wasn't on sale and they increased the price (possibly finding it on your thread) then that's tacky. Was it on sale?
The food is looking good, particularly the bacon.
It was on sale I think. I'm not sure when it was due to go on and off sale.
Yeah, the bacon is by exem from rendo. unfortunately none of the bacon I tried was dforce- capable for some reason. Not sure why.
I hope for the day in DAZ Studio with dForce Dynamics when you can easily animate peas & carrots falling off of Owen & Boyd's spoons when they are tring to eat.
And the item M701 was on sale, I remember.
Unfortunately for Boyd has a cold... Just in time for Christmas.
Forunately there is DAZ patented...."MySwill." Whether it will make Boyd better..... Or worse is the question.
That would be awesome. It is funny you mention carrots. I did look very hard for some roasted ones... But could find none in the store.
I wanted to mention I've wanted ot use the 'feeling sick cold set' props since I got those for free a while ago. They are actually really great! I didn't have any suitable poses so I started with a pinup lounge pose for Boyd, and a sitting on the edge of the bed pose for Owen. I then messed around with the hands and expressions until I got something passable.
To make boyd look flush, and to enhance the transparency on Owen's ears I take the image into photoshop, and add a brick red color as a second layer on the cheeks and ears. I make the transparency really light and switch it to overlay mode. This enhances the colors to be more red without a painted on look I find I do that often for Owen's ears, which are about one of the few things that actually tends to have color- mostly because the light shines through there.
He does indeed look miserable! (meant that as a compliment to your talent LOL)
Fortunately, he has Owen to make sure he stays hydrated, on track, and consumes his.... MySwill. I did dfroce the little towel on Owen's knees.... I want to dforce one thing in every scene if I can.
Oh, I thought Boyd looked a bit different but as he's so tan I couldn't notice the blush til you mentioned it.
This product has a G8 cheek blush.

I saw that in the forums and I admit to some curiosity about it. Does it work on the guys? This is a fairly simple effect to achieve in Photoshop but if you have a picture of this effect I am curious about it.
Hmmm Sabbys new dude justice is quite attractive and such a good price... going to have to pick him up...
No, it'd just be a guide do create your own blush mask for guys. Shabby's Justice does have the best short facial hair/goattee that I've see yet.
This is an an interesting topic. When I get more time, I think I will explore painting on male facial color such as blush and sunburns postwork and see where it goes. It really can't be that hard.
I like that G8 has headed more in that direction with makeup & such.
On the topic of of the turkey- Mec4d's PBS shaders volume 2. Has a nice Gummy Bear shader which makes a nice Cranberry jello mold. You just need to apply it to something- in this case this 1 dollar prop from Turbosquid. I also found some limes in the cinco de limo set for the platter. I think I need to add a few more.
For some reason I got a little side-tracked today kitbashing hair together.
I really like the hairlines from both Smay's basic hair and OOT Ryan hair. I was curious if I could kitbash OOT's Ryan and OOt's nick together... The hairline from Ryan with the length on the top from Nick to try for something different for boyd. I really like the short-shaved sides with masculine hairlines. Sadly, I wasn't able to do that....Something about Ryan hair, I couldn't ultimate hide.
I did manage a bit with Smay's hair but the stubble texture isn't as fine as OOTs so I'm not sure it will hold up to close-up scrutiny.
I really do think that Ryan hair by OOT is a phenomenal piece of work. I would pay for more styles like that or simply more morphs to go with that style. The reason I don't give Ryan hair to Boyd is because Own already has that hair and I don't wnat them to look like twins.
