    Here's the same scene with my Olives Ecology. It is fun to see how the same scene looks with different vegetation. I had to use Scene Optimizer on this one. It turns out that both the bicycle and the hair have 8K textures. That, along with all of the various plants, added up to a bit more than my graphics card could handle with my render settings. The dog is just a billboard, so he didn't take up much memory. If I had used the real 3D German shepherd with dForce fur, it would be a no-go for sure.

    Same scene with my latest Dead Trees Ecology. This ecology always renders pretty fast. I think it is because there aren't so many leaves.

    I'm building a Tropical Ecology now...

    It's done. Here it is. The first one I built was too dense and busy so I changed the seed on the build tab and  tried again. I think this one turned out much better. I'm done with this series of images now.

    No, I'm not a PA, but you can create a similar ecology yourself with products you own. These are cacti from Polish's Nature Plants bundles in the Daz store. I have instructions on how to make an ecology with your own props over here.

    Also, is there any way to mix the presets?  As in, I would like to do a scene with oaks AND willows.  Is that possible, or maybe something that will be included later?

     

    @Faeofthe3rdDimension    There is currently a way if your willing to edit the json file.  You can have a look at Barbults' thread and she did a tutorial on how to do it.

    Thank you, but I'm waaaaayyy too unlucky with computers to try something like that.  I LOOK at a computer and it starts acting up, I wouldn't dare make it mad by attempting to do something complicated.

    Maybe it's something that could be made into an add-on product later?  Some kind of script that combines them?

    Also, a great add-on to the Pines product would be a winter scene.  Those pines would look amazing covered in snow!

Uncheck most of the layers except the trees you want in the second run. If you want to avoid overlap of of the two different types of trees, use a mask on the tree layer in the first UltraScenery and invert the mask on the second one.  After the second one finishes, hide its UltraScene terrain and water. You only need one terrain and one water.

    @Faeofthe3rdDimension There are other options, too. You could run the UltraScenery script for one ecology and then used UltraScatterPro to scatter trees of the other kind on the UltraScene terrain object. Or you could just manually place a few of the other kind of trees into your scene.

    Thanks, that is one of the first ecologies I created and I go back and add more variety to it from time to time. I recently added some bare trees I got from Polish's Nature Plant bundles.

    The mangroves are pretty interesting, but they truly are low resolution as advertised. They don't respond well to subD either. They get weird artifacts between the root part of the trunk and the upper part of the trunk, so I stuck to the low res version. Here are some USC images generated with a quick mangrove ecology I threw together. They are all the same ecology, just a different build seed. They use the muddy river water.

As always a little goes a very long way, slight variations in the y rotation value and scale for each plant or instance will greatly increase the variation you can get out of one tree model."

    You could combine the low-rez ecology with one or two "hero" trees from his Mangrove Trees, Roots and Bushes for Iray added close to the camera.

    I didn't even know that other mangrove product existed. Thanks for the tip. I added them to my wishlist for sometime when they are cheap again. I guess if I had them, I could mask out a place for them in my UltraScenery and add them later.

    I used Ultrascenery for the the terrain and changed the leaves colour, Ultrascatter to scatter some Rowan Trees and the Stag is Tane the old Deer for DAZ horse 2.

    I love this thread! ^_^ So many gorgeous renders.  This product has revolutionized Daz Studio!

    Here's one that doesn't look like any of the others, lol!  I used Ultrascenery for the sand, rocks, fallen coconuts and palm fronds, and water.  The "foam" on the beach is from SY Rigged Waves, which works great as an addon to Ultrascenery, I think.  Looking at it again, I should have tinted the waves a little blue-er to match the water better.  The waves are rigged so you can snake them along the beach, so it doesn't matter what shape coast you get from Ultrascenery!

    Always, many exciting new renders to be amazed at when I check on this thread. Great work.

    I have one issue that is with me; I need to study plants and animals and what regions, seasons, and time of day they bloom or come out to eat. I realize how ignorant I am of the natural world.

    They have a nice autumn look to them. I'm not familiar with Rowan trees. I had to look it up on the internet. You mad a nice combo or UltraScenery and UltraScatter.

    While UltraScenery excels in wide landscape scenes, it also excels at tight close-ups. However, trying to set up Depth of Field on an instanced plant *can* be a pain(!) but worth the effort I think. With UltraScenery the fun just never ends!

    When the ocean waves lap up on the sand like that, they are white. Your waves look good. It is fun to see a beach render for a change!

    The dead trees are:

    • Willow Creek Tree03 Iray from Willow Creek (with root base modified as I described in my thread for better positioning on sloped terrain. On fairly flat terrain, you wouldn't need to do that, but I was experimenting and learning.)
    • NP6 EasternWhitePine from Nature Plants 06 (with the pine needles opacity at 0)
    • NP5 EasternRedCedar from Nature Plants 05 (with cedar needles opacity at 0)

    The UltraScenery ecology JSON files have the capability to change materials on a prop, so I used that capability to set the Nature Plants tree needles to 0 opacity,

    That closeup looks amazingly good. Did you find a technique, other than trial and error, to focus on the instance? I wonder if it would have been easier to place one "real" prop at the location you wanted to focus on and set the DOF for that instead of on an instance. I've found it nearly impossible to locate a single instance, so if you have a technique, I'm eager to hear it.
