What exactly are the required products for the new set. The promo page only lists https://www.daz3d.com/nature-trees-pack-4

is that all thats needed, and if I don't have that what problems will I face?

Today's pack (Ultrascenery - Mossy Hollow) doesn't need the pines at all, it needs Mossy Hollow Botanica.

The one from Tuesday (Ultrascenery - Pines) needs that Nature Trees Pack 4 product - if you don;t have that (I don't) then the landscapes will still build with proxy trees in all the right places, but when you render there will be a lack of pine trees (just blank spaces).

Err this is really confusing the promo page shows the one from today needs the pines.

What MelanieL said. For these two products, ignore the product pages completely for now and go with the titles: you won't see pine trees in a mossy jungle so buy Mossy Hollow Botanica if you want a jungle.

You won't see a jungle in a forest of pine trees so buy  Nature Trees Pack 4 if you want a forest of pines.

Sorry but I'm fed up with the mess Daz are making with this sale so its another loss for them and unfortunately the PA but its been hours and its still not fixed.

Daz has declared today to be a holiday for their employees (Juneteenth). The problem may not get fixed immediately. HowieFarkes and forum members have done what they can to make people aware of the errors in the required products lists, but you are right, it is a confusing mess for now. sad

in the meantime, I am happily rendering pines. soon, tropical ..but.. here is a clearing in a pine forest. I have ample room to plop a cabin or something in there. Wonder why nothing populated that area, but I like it.
This one hot of the render cooker. no post. Saved as .PNG

Some ecologies are densely forested and others are sparsely forested. Look at the preview thumbnail of each ecology inside the script to get an idea of the differences.

It can be really easy to forget to set Instancing Optimization to Memory, and a pain to gain control of DS again when you forget. (Voice of experience, of course!) What I did was set up my Custom Menus to include an action that will make the change for me:

    Custom Menu Settings Supporting Instancing

When I go to open any of my Instancing scripts, (interesting they are all from Howie!) the first thing I see is the item to Set Optimization to Memory. I click on that, and then come back and open the script I need.

To create something like that, you have to first save a Render-Settings preset with optimization set to Memory. Use Uncheck All in the popup dialog and then drill down to Instancing Optimization and check that, then save. Find the preset and right-click, then select Create a Custom Action from the popup menu. (You can further customize these menus from the Window > Workspace > Customize, or F3, dialog.)

@daveso You can look in DIM to see where something installed.  Go to the Installed tab and find the product you want to look at, click on it once to highlight it.  At the bottom right theres a check box to show details click it. A box should show in the window and at the bottom of the listed info click the Show File List button.  It will bring up a list of the files, look to make sure its going to the correct location where USC is installed.  Image attached for reference if you need it.

thanks ..yeah, its inn the wrong place. will try to move it, but I need to straighten out my install directories again. its a mess for sure. It hought it was all good. weird that some stuff goes to my custom directories and others go to the directories set up by DAZ Central ... which I had deleted when it didn;t even recognize Daz Studio being installed.

Uninstall the pines thru DIM and then install them again manually where you want them. Sometimes it's just the lesser of two evils.

Another amazing extension to UltraScenery - https://www.daz3d.com/ultrascenery--mossy-hollow

Wonderful! Is this solely from the product? Haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Thanks and yes, it is. I have only used the sky from the other set.

I'm still in the pines ... I  like this one other than the pine in the foreground. Appears to be out of the soil or something.

Currently the easiest workaround for the floating tree problem is to select that group of tree instances and translate them in the negative direction in the Parameters pane and render again. Or you can rebuild the scene with a different seed and see if the trees are placed in a better location. Or, you can just do some touch up in an image editor.

thanks. I think I like the last option ... timewise for sure.  I'll give lowering a shot though.

Actually, for this I used the free atmosphere by retrodevil. However, it kept crashing my gfx card drivers and Daz Studio (I only have a 6gb card and I guess it was all just too much...lol). I have the Iray Atmosphere from the store, so I'm gonna try that and see if it's still crashing the driver and use Scene Optimizer to try and pare down some textures.

There is a fog built into Daz Studio 4.12 now (at least in the 4.12.2.6 beta I am using). It is on the Environment tab of the Render Settings pane.

One other question, do you have plans for future expansion add-on products, so that we can keep an eye on those 3rd party product sales?  Sort of like a "roadmap" of expansions?

    1. Nature Trees Pack 4
    2. Mossy Hollow Botanica
    3. next?

From me, there's Tangy Apple Orchard (which is now a Daz-O, so often highly discounted...)

NICE ! ... and I even have those tangy fields already.  Reminds me a lot of old rural areas ... now for some old falling apasrt sheds and barns.

I'm enjoying all the great renders that just keep coming here! The new expansion sets are adding great options. @TangoAlpha Thanks for the heads up about the upcoming apple tree expansion, too. They look nice, and fruit trees are something brand new to the UltraScenery ecologies.
