My friend as far as I can tell not one thing you have done, may yet do, in this style, has had one thing bad in it. There are things not allowed but so far none you have done that I know of has so much as raised an eyebrow so far. Your doing things I see as more Cute than suggestive and nothing has been to far that I have seen. And if you DO render a image that your not sure of just PM it to one of us Admins. We will all look at it and email you a verdict on if it needs to be posted on DAZ Studio or not.
I have many renders in my DA account I can not post here on DAZ 3D. But I can post them on DA with the proper flags set and then a user of the correct age can see that image from DA if they wished, if I posted the link to it here. I'm not saying to Push the limits, just that to me your doing fine for DAZ 3D right now. And you have options to stay that way, show a Admin when in doubt. Even then you still have other options for showing works properly in ways that are allowed. Do not over think this stuff. As far as I know your doing just fine so far.
I'm back. I don't feel like typing a long response because I have a cold. Thanks for writing.
Here are some outfits:
1950s Casuals
Memory usage: ~880 MB
1950s Every day clothes
Memory usage: ~730 MB
interesting that Every day clothes uses less memory even though it has a slip/under skirt.
1950s waitress.
Memory usage: 830 MB
Lighting from advance spotlight looks better than lighting from advanced distant lights. I am almost finished uploading renders of memory intensive clothes for Genesis 1 and 2. Next I will examine at clothes for Victoria 4.
10 year old Kori wearing Chic hair. I think Chic hair uses 150 MB. I'm going to reboot the Windows XP computer and then run some more tests.
Memory usage: 730 MB
Kori in Octane. I forgot to adjust the sunlight.
Olympia (default skin) and Bree (Genesis 2 default skin) comparison. I'll fix the composition later.
Memory usage: 1 GB.
Olympia and Kori. I would've let Luxrender run longer but it is getting late.
Memory usage: ~2.5 GB out of about 3.8? GB of physical memory. About 200 MB is used for the integrated graphics chip.
Josie and Olympia comparison. I would've created a more fancy scene but I am using Windows 32 bit. lol
Memory usage: 1.1 GB out of 1.2 GB.
I'm going to play with the lighting.
I can do two things at once: edit lights and edit the liquid settings that is in the giant martini glass.
First scene has Advanced distant light and a regular distant light. I need a water shader for the bubbles. Maybe I can use the shader from rigged water.
Second scene has light from easy environments eternal sands. I changed the index of refraction of the liquid to 1.33. I will play around with the settings some more.
The model is Danika.
Index of refraction test with the same camera angle and lights.
Top image: IOR off
Botom image: refraction strength set to 75% and IOR set to 1.1
I'll do the remaining tests on the dual-core Pentium because the single core computer is too slow. Daz Studio spent 25 minutes rendering one image. I also changed the shadow settings thinking that I could reduce the rendering time.
Reminder for me to work on my Poser scenes after I look at the clothes for Genesis 1 and 2. I should read the manuals for Poser too.
Optics
IOR = 1.2
I did not notice any difference between 1.2 or 1.3. No point in uploading both renders if they look similar. I'll play with the IOR settings again tomorrow.
This render only took two minutes on the dual-core Pentium.
IOR = 1.5
I turned of the shadows so that Studio will render faster on the single-core computer. I forgot that I can turn off shadows.
Tests of water and glass will take a while. I should finish my smaller projects before I continue rendering big scenes containing water and glass.
V4's texture is from Angelica.
edit: sorry for the small size. I forgot to set the output size to 800x600 pixels.
same scene as 402 except that I added a cat and I changed the color of the refraction.
something different - Olympia in the Luxury Star
I'll render a closeup picture after lunch.
Here is the closeup of Olympia. I should load Luxury star by itself to see how much memory it uses.
Adventurer for Genesis Male
Memory usage: 800 MB
Fayre for Genesis female
Memory usage: 900 MB
I found a corset that has no straps. I should look for tops and dresses that are strapless now.
The first scene is image 397 rendered with the linear kernel.
The second scene is similar scene as image 402.
IOR = 1.7
edit: I think I may have accidental lowered the refraction setting. Opps.
I forgot to adjust the lights in both scenes.
The index of refraction of the liquid in this render and the render above is set to 1.7. There is no color set for the refraction. I'll play around with the camera angles and lights after lunch.
edit: I forgot to change the render settings as usual. lol Also, I should read the Luxus skin settings before I do any more renders using Luxus.
Materials and lights need adjusting for Luxus.
First render: skin set to Luxus gossy-translucent
Second render: I set the skin to Luxus gossy-translucent and I applied the color settings in Slosh's first post.
I finally figured out how to edit the Luxus material settings so that the skin looks normal. I'll upload a new render later.
I found out that the martini glass has refraction set.
1st image has glass IOR set to 1.7
2nd image has IOR set to 1.0
Model is Danika. I should do a render comparing the skin textures for Genesis 2. I also should redo my previous renders of the glass.
IOR of glass = 1.33
Haven't used Mahala in a while.
Julie in Luxrender on the single-core computer.
I forgot to save the jpeg of Mahala. Opps. Its ok.. I wanted to change the scene any ways.
Julie in Octane demo version. I should find some tutorials for Octane.
The hair is Full & Feathered Hair for Genesis.
I learned how to add a light in Octane. The red light is on the floor pointing upward. Octane did not load the textures for the columns.
Julie in daylight lighting model. The strength of her bump map is too high.
Julie really looks quite lovely here.
Hi anikad, thanks for the comment. Here are Mahala and Julie in Luxrender:
Mahala in Octane. I should find some tutorials on creating subsurface scattering and glossy textures. Bye
I finally finished this test scene. Olympia, Kori and Nidale.
The Windows 7 computer needs more memory.
