Fun with Octane Standalone Demo
Justin and Josie in the moonlight. I'll add the indoor lights and furniture later.
Memory usage: 1.7 GB. It'll be interesting to see how much memory the furniture will use.
Here is a closeup Josie in moonscapes and the same lighting as above.
Fuzzy blue bushes or beasties? She best be careful out there ;)
lol. Those are supposed to be blue rocks.
Here is Julie in a bar tavern maid outfit in Yosemite HDRI. I'll work on this scene some more.
Memory usage: ~1.5 GB the last time I checked. I forgot the exact number.
The Yosemite HDRI scenes render slowly on the single-core computer. I'll go work on some other scenes now.
I like the glow on her shoulders in the moonscape, and the soft light on her hair :)
Thanks for the comment.
Here is Danika, Daisy May and Ivory.
edit: Moonscape uses uber environment light in Studio 4, I think. I changed the light mode to ambient (no ray tracing) to save time.
I should look for more tutorials for uber environment.
I found Learning UberEnvironment 2 Return To Topic
Dawn and Justin in occlusion and soft shadows. Indirect lighting takes too long on a dual-core Pentium.
Dawn in uber environment medium quality
Julie in high quality uber environment
I'll pay around with the lights later.
i was too tired to upload this render last night.
Dawn and Josie with Emmawynn's body but Josie texture. Uber environment quality is set to medium, I think.
Shader bug is occurring more frequently. This bug seems to appear randomly whenever I render Genesis 2 females.
3Delight message #45 (Severity 2): S2069: the interface of shader
'C:/Documents and Settings/me/Application Data/DAZ 3D/Studio4/shaders/brickyard/{407f8e5c-3a9b-4708-b5e5-799ff1fe7c1d}/shader_Surface.sdl' is invalid
3Delight message #45 (Severity 2): S2051: cannot load shader 'brickyard/{407f8e5c-3a9b-4708-b5e5-799ff1fe7c1d}/shader_Surface', will use 'defaultsurface'
Did you apply the SSS shader fixes before you rendered? That is sort of why the tips to fix the error before it happens were posted. Like the Group ID changes they suggest on some textures?
I never heard of group ID until I saw Misty Whisky's thread now. Thanks for the tip. I haven't heard of the other fixes.
Post 422 with a spotlight and furniture. Second screenshot shows Windows Task Manager.
Some place in commons is a big thread on the SSS Shader from when it first came out. The last page or two has most of the fixes posted. They often stop the White out or Black out , that happens too, before it happens. Not always though. It is some error with the brickyard and will happen randomly but much less if the fixes are used.
I could not find the big thread with the SSS fixes.
I did find find some other threads with solutions to other problems that I had with SSS:
Random skin rendering problems with Victoria 6, teen Josie 6
Sub Surface Scattering settings in ds4 by RawArt
Julie in the Tubo hotel:
quick test render of Tubo in uber environment light.
I'll fix the scene later because it is late at night.
Dwarf Lana and Teen Olympia. I made Dwarf Lana before I found Raw Dwarfology.
Daz Studio almost ran out of memory when I rendered the second scene. I'll redo the space scenes that have Genesis 2 using the Windows 7 computer.
comparison of Genesis basic child and Lana as a short dwarf.
Memory usage: 950 MB.
Tubo in the light that came with endless sands. I didn't get a chance to edit the uber environment light.
Second render is Just in Catgirl on Windows 32 bit.
One more render of cat girl in Onyx before I look work on some old scenes that I never finished.
edit: I should render her in Luxrender just to see what her texture will look like.
Cat lady's hands and feet look different compared to the rest of her body. The bump map settings are the same, I think. I'll check the surfaces again tomorrow.
I also need to check cat girl's hair and Olympia's lips.
I'm moving my todo list to a seperate post.
Other stuff I need to do:
create chubby Genesis female using dials
look at the new outfits I bought
fix dream home scenes with Laura and V4
Render closeups of feet and legs to see the details.
Finish the scenes with the cars and jeeps
Space scenes with older characters
plus sized models
character and skin comparison will take a while
look for skimpy outfits in my runtime library
render Poser figures

Katie elite in Octane.
Remember my first renders of Octane that showed people's feet? I didn't know how to move the camera then.
My renders of Katie elite look nothing like the promotional renders.
Light setup used:
1. uber area light
2. uber environment
3. Yosemite HDRI
