Honestly, I didn't think I'd be too impressed and bought the 3Delight to Iray mostly as a way to get discounts for other products. I assumed there was no way a single script could handle the complexity of an entire scene of surfaces.

But this product surprised me. The customization allows me to toss in other generic shaders (e.g., plastics, rayon, cloth, etc), thus allowing the script to become as 'smart' as you want to make it.

Plus it's fast and the default shader looks pretty good.

The PDF didn't go over all the cool options but the tooltips are invaluable. I don't always see tooltip use in Daz script dialogs, but RS makes great use of them.

As for some of the options I couldn't find mentioned in the PDF:

    • Double clicking on a row in Matches list on first tab (3Delight to Iray) - This is useful for on-the-fly changes of shader for a surface. Good for when you want a different shader but don't want to create a permanent rule in the Options tab.
    • Overwrite Matches - This option didn't make sense at first as double clicking seemed to overwrite just fine as mentioned in my first bullet point. However, after thinking on it, I realized it means to allow the 'Find Matches' button (when clicked again) to overwrite the shaders chosen below, e.g., if you'd manually changed one via double clicking/or if you just built a new rule on Options tab and want to watch it get applied.

    Excellent work on this product!!!

I have both these new products. However the script for the original iray to 3Delight converter (the first of the two products) has suddenly stopped working for me. It was working fine until this morning. Now it won't open and all I get is an error message. Curiously, if I uninstall the second product (3delight to iray converter) the original product starts working again. Anyone else experiencing this, or do I need to raise a ticket with DAZ?

OK, so I seem to have been able to fix this by uninstalling and reinstalling both products. Odd! Great products though - easy to use! smiley

So this is DM MoonCult set from the Poser library using the few options like Wood, Glass and Metal to get things looking super duper under the 3DL render engine.  I really love allot of what DM does. Even though the poses wont work the props will work just fine and look awesome.

I too am looking forward to the 3DL to iRAY as I think one could potentially load in a Poser setup using the pz2 files, which essentially works just fine under the 3DL render engine as is.

Was this converted to 3dl from iray or from poser?

I get an error message when I try to convert Dog8 from Iray to 3DL. The log says something about an object that can't be loaded. I'm using DS 4.10 BETA. Conversion works fine on MilDog.

Can anyone confirm if the conversion to 3DL for  Dog8 works, or if this is a glitch that happens only to me?

Ok, a new version of RSSY 3DL to Iray was pushed out yesterday.  In addition to bug fixes, it includes a new presets file that I hope cleans up some of the mismatches people are seeing.

I am working on the Iray to 3DL one.  I have done an equivalent conversion presets options for it.  Copy the file Data/RiverSoft Art/Data/RSSY Iray To 3Delight Shader Presets.xml.  (You need to change the extension).  If there are still errors, please let me know.

Sorry to be dense, but does this file take the place of the .dse? Otherwise in the folder all I have is the .duf, duf.png, and manuals.

If that's the case, I just change the .txt to .dse, rename it and that's it?

I just bought this because I have tons of 3DL shaders!
This product has a lot of 3DL lights: https://www.daz3d.com/crimson-court and I can't get the script to recognize the lights (see pic) so now I can't convert them. Any ideas?

Also, I have the G8M skeleton loaded in the scene with Iray shaders, and the script keeps persisting it needs to be converted. Is that by default that it doesn't recognize Iray shaders? https://www.daz3d.com/midnight-skeleton-for-genesis-8-male

Posibly. Wow!, I give up. Sorry E.Bru.

That or I need coffee, lol.   I broke copy and paste of text, lol.

I've ran into that problem with another file. With me it worked when putting it on your main drive C: Unzip it there and then move it to your preferred drive.

Use 7-Zip. It worked fine on mine, and it's free to download.

For lights, the "Turn on Photometric Mode for 3DL Lights" controls whether 3Delight lights are converted in your scene to Iray lights.

Uncheck the "Genesis 8 Male Skeleton" to keep it from being converted.  The reason why it is showing up is that the "RSSY 3DL To Iray Objects.txt" file (located in Data/RiverSoft Art/Data) tells the script which figure types should be considered as one material vs iterating through the figure looking for 3DL materials.  If the asset id of something is in there, the script stops and shows it as available for conversion (even if there are no 3DL materials on it).  Then the matching uses the regular expressions to decide what material to assign to it.  Interestingly, the midnight-skeleton-for-genesis-8-male returns Genesis3Male (I have it too! smiley), which is an error as it is supposed to be a Genesis 8 figure.  You have two choices.  You can uncheck the "Genesis 8 Male Skeleton" to keep it from being converted.  Alternatively, you could edit the "RSSY 3DL To Iray Objects.txt" file if you don't want the script to treat a figure as one whole object and want it to actually look for 3DL materials.  In that case, you would remove "Genesis3Male" from the file.  However, that would affect every Genesis3Male in any scene so I wouldn't recommend it.

Ok, that is my error. I apologize.  Both the RSSY Iray to 3DL and the RSSY 3DL to Iray use the same RSIrayTo3DLFunctions.dse script (located in Data/RiverSoft Art/Common).  I updated both scripts to use the same function (LoadFileToArray) I added to this file, but the zip for the Iray to 3DL still has the old RSIrayTo3DLFunctions.dse.  I will submit an update to Daz for it.  For now, use the attached file.  Alternatively, if you have the 3DL to Iray product, make sure it is installed AFTER the Iray to 3DL.

Ok, there is a new update in DIM as of right now.  The fix is in that zip.  Please redownload the zip from Daz.

Thanks for your reply! But the problem is, when I scan the scene, the lights don't show up. Just the crimson-court and the skeleton. :( The script doesn't seem to pick them up at all.

Yes, the lights won't be picked up.  The only thing the script does with the lights is turn the Photometric Mode.  Otherwise, it leaves them alone.

With DS 4.10.0.123 (NO BETA), it works for me.

Okay, thank you. I'll try to figure out what the problem is - most likely me doing something wrong. I'll keep you posted.

Can you send me the log?

That's from the regular log from DS, unless there's another one?

First of all, thank you for the help. I've PMed you with the further log, as the fix fixed half the problem, only.

Update: SOLVED, Thank you for the great support!
