RSSY Iray to 3Delight Converter

    Regarding the 3DL to Iray, one thing I've noticed when running it against old products -- the General Iray Shader doesn't copy diffuse color to base color. The base colors are always set to white. This is OK if there's a texture, but some older stuff just relied on diffuse color alone.

    I do like the General Iray Shader, so I'm assuming it had to set the color to white to work it's magic...but I'm curious if there is some other similar shader out there which will honor the diffuse colors and copy them over...other than plain ole iray uber shader.

    Also, I got the update for the 3DL to Iray product today, and it seemed to break the selection mechanism.

    Select None disables 'Apply Presets'.  But even when I manually check a few of the items, 'Apply Presets' does not re-enable. Even if I manually check ALL the surfaces, it still doesn't re-enable. The only way to get it to re-enable is to select Select All (which defeats the purpose if you only want to run it for a few surfaces) or Find Matches again.

    Clicking Find Matches again is a decent workaround, but I'm pretty sure this was working before the update (i.e., you could just click the checkbox for an item and it would re-enable Apply Presets).

    Just wanted to say, the Iray to 3DL converter works beautifully on the Dog 8. I only had to change the eye moisture afterwards to water, as it was translated to standard shader.

    This fix will be coming out in another update.  I can preserve the color.  I rushed out a fix to make sure the script wasn't broken by the update to the Iray to 3DL.

    Thank you for reporting this bug.  I will make sure it is in the next update.

    I just purchased the RSSY 3DL to Iray converter and installed with DIM. However the scripts are not showing up in my content library and it appears that they may not have been installed. See attached screen shots. I have tried unistalling and reinstalling several times but always with the same result

    Please advise. I was hoping to try this on a couple of my favorite old 3DL scenes.

    That is really strange.  If I open the official zip file itself, the script is under Content->Scripts->RiverSoft Art->3Delight To Iray.  What do you see?

    If I manually dowload the zip file I can see the scripts; but when I install withDIM they evidently do not install I'm not good at manual installations and always use DIM

    I don't use DIM, I manually download and install. I got the Iray to 3DL on the 13th, do I need to redownload and reinstall due to the update I was just reading about?

    Yes, you need to download and install to get the last update.

    New updates are availabe from DIM as of yesterday.  These updates should fix both issues.

    I downloaded a file from DIM and let it install, but how do i know it's the one from the 22nd?  Here's a snippet from some page that says UD was 06/19/18.  I never use DIM, so I have no clue how to make sure the one I got is the newest.  You have to click on the attachment to see the image properly.

    Yes, that is the latest.  that was the fix I submitted.

    I’ve downloaded the updates for both products. I apply a blue-skinned preset from Beautiful Skins — Iray, run the Iray to 3DL script and the blue disappears. Is this something that was supposed to be updated, is it something that is still gong to be updated, or am I just doing something wrong (which is usually my default assumption))?

    Hi Walt, I don't have that product so I can't say exactly.  The script should preserve the color in Base Color and put it in Diffuse Color.  If it is map, it is preserved.  Does Beautiful Skins put the color somewhere else?

    Yeh, I was having the same problem with the 3DL to Iray converter.

    I will say, after the latest patch, the color is copied successfully and the 'Apply Presets' button works great! Thanks for the speedy fixes to the 3DL to Iray product!

    I just tested it again, and it is working for me.  When did you download the latest updates?  If you look in the zip, what is the file date on the Iray to 3DL script?

    Never underestimate my power to get it wrong. smiley Mine says June 21, 7:08a.m.  (I assume the hour difference is the time zone).  How about the RSIrayTo3DLFunctions.dse file, mine is June 22, 5:21 AM?  Have you tried it with other Iray stuff?  Drop something simple in the scene, change the Iray Base color yourself and try the script.

    Yes, that worked. I tried three different objects, all retained the colour when converted.
