Filter Forge - Chinaware painting filter
Hello Headwax, I normally try anywhere from half a dozen to a dozen of the different filters to see which one has the best result. I also use Topaz Adjust for colour improvement of the render before I use Filter Forge.
Really like that one!
Thanks Phil !!!!!!
Old House - Filter Forge Paint HDRtist filter
Very nice Bunyip02, you are on a roll with filter forge.
Here's mine for the day. Using Topaz, Fotosketcher and Waterlogue. Also the notsobeauty render... first time I have really looked at Carrara's skies with a finer eye. It has a lot of potential. The Genesis for this one was a Wyeth sailing ship.
Long John Silver was a painted over in Artrage 5. Finally unpacked my Wacom.
Bunyip02, Head Wax: *Like*
HW, has your thinking changed at all on the VectorStyle 2 plugin? Pretty good discount today.

thanks TangoAlpha, I must load up Phil's ocean bundle .... lost it when I lost my drive. Hard drive that is.
thanks for the heads up UB , I was too lazy to take it back. For me it's pretty useless :) but you don't know until you spend a while using it! That said Artini has done some nice inorganic stuff.
I only use Carrara for animation, but figured I'd post a test of a figure for my next thing.
I have VectorStyle and ToonPro, and I stopped using VectorStyle once I figured out that if I really needed to have a vector file, I could Image Trace the rendering in Adobe Illustrator. ToonPro gives a lot more options, in my opinion.
Thanks for the heads up. Definitely worth picking up. :)
Oh, what the crap? I just bought this and it says it requires Carrara **6**?? Ugh...
nice shaders in this - post more if you have it :)
BTW Vectorstyel2 works in Carrara 8
Not to turn this into a separate convo -- but how/where does it work? Is it in the rendering? Because I've uploaded it and it isn't showing up as an option like photorealistic or toon pro. Is it a shader option?
you choose FILE> Save As as where you normally save a car file
click the arrow and you'll get a drop doen menu giving you options of file type
somewhere doen the borrom is vectorstyle
choose eps
Great style!
I like this - not just the cool character(s), but the background styling is great too - kind of a ralph bakshi edge/flavor I've come to like. Do you publish other work like this? I'd love to see more, and learn anything you'd share about your workflow and tool-chain! I thought I got into this world for photo-real, but am finding that your stuff and the recent works by HeadWax are taking me in a very different direction. (to be honest, most folks in this crowd are amazingly creative inspirations that cover the full spectrum of styles. It's all simply amazing.)
cheers,
--ms
Headwax, like both of them, especially the sailing ship one.
Thanks TangoAlpha
Excellent, hope you post more often !!!!!!!
Sci-Fi scene from me this time. Used Fotosketcher with Oil Painting setting.
Trying out a new filter in AE (hence the red X). I'm pretty impressed this is zero touch up. Lines are coming out really smooth and crisp.
chap's suit and the foreground ground worked up very well in this,
BC Rice - that's a terrific effect, even with the cross :)
Here's a little more work on previous image. PhilW's excellent ocean. Topaz Impression custom postwork filter. Raw render attached too. Couldnt get flasg to go right way so flipped them in post.

A Daz Studio User working On Passes
- though the first part is for daz studio I think there's some relevant stuff at the 50 mins plus mark for Carrara users
just a matter of looking at the render passes he is combining and thinking how we can make them in Carrara
remembering that Carrara has diffuse, colour, ambient , shadow and coverage (line) passes all built in ;)

Some Examples of Comic Artwork

Playing today with my Photo Plus 8 internal filters and Filter Forge filters as well. Thanks to TangoAlpha I've got my Filter Forge v5 for free. Photo Plus is one of my photo editing programs. I have not used Photoshop for ages and don't have any other Adobe soft on my computers.
wow, Vyusur really very nice, cant decide which is my favourite. I see Photo Plus 8 has been abandonned? pity!
Thank you, Andrew. Yes, Photo Plus is legacy now. I have Affinity Photo as well, but in many cases I still prefer Photo plus. As for artistic filters, I don't use them since I left my old job where I had to simulate paintings for sale. Since then I hate this kind of stuff. And I hate Photoshop since I left another my job which was glamorous wedding magazine where I had to process a great number of photos for covers and illustrations.
