...yeah, this thread ended up on page 2 a couple times over the last week..

I tried to stop posting spontaneously because I end up with a string of consecutive posts.no  I don't expect replies to my posts, I'm just eating bandwidth with unimportant stuff, knowing that nobody really cares anyway, but hoping to give a chuckle to someone, or wave the flag of "Hey, it's just life, everybody's got one".indecision  Whenever I try to get serious about anything, I get my hand slapped.sad  Better to be mundane than shushed.  This is the ONLY place that I post things on the Internet.surprise  My only place to let people know I exist.yes  So, I appreciate the tolerance (such as it is) of the moderators to let us have this little playroom.heartkiss

But yeah, the atmosphere at DAZ is becoming murky.  (Oops, getting serious.  Stop it LG, just stop it.)

And where would I be without the emoticons?broken heart

    I concur.

Me: "Your meter is saying that my electricity use in October was higher than it was during July, when it was 90-100 outside every day and I was running two air conditioners."

Xcel: "Well you must be using more electricity now. Have you considered using less electricity?"

Me: "There's no logical reason I'd be using more electricity now than at any point in the ten years I've lived here, especially in the one month where it's still light outside after work and cool enough to not run any cooling devices. Last October my usage was <kilowatt hours>."

Xcel: "Well if the meter was broken it would tell us."

I'm sure it would. "Hey, you're charging this person too much, please come out and put a stop to that," said no meter or person ever.

So I'm just going to get sucker punched for an extra $10-15 a month now. Or as the old SNL skit goes...

"We realize that, every so often, you can’t get an operator, or for no apparent reason your phone goes out of order, or perhaps you get charged for a call you didn’t make. We don’t care! We don't have to! We're the phone company!"

Ah,... so is that's what they call a "Smart Meter"?surprise  I've got a "Smart Phone" will it be having my conversations for me?indecision

My smart phone sometimes answers questions it wasn't asked.

I woke up this morning thinking my ride was going to be picking me up at a quarter till 8 am.  It was actually scheduled for a quarter till nine.

I'm thinking of making a smoothie but I already have coffee and lemonade.

Non-Complaint-ish:  Finally slogged through a bunch of YouTube videos discussing Medicare Advantage Plans, and their various "gotchas".  Then tackled enrolling in a new plan.  I picked one very similar to my old plan (same insurance company, different policy) but, of course, more expensive.frown  Although not by much.  HOWEVER, my Urologist is now not in their network, nor is my dentist nor my wonderful eye surgeon in Buffalo.sad  That means out-of-network rates ($$$) for them unless I switch to different doctors.no

I am going to see Smile 2 today.  I hope it is good.  I haven't seen Smile 1 yet but hopefully that is okay?

You might want to see the first one. The first one is always better than the Sequel

True, but it is too late for me to watch the first one before the second.  I'm already in the movie theater waiting for the previews to start so the movie can start

What about Star Trek movies? I'm pretty sure II (Wrath of Khan) is widely thought better than I (The Motion Picture).

Who here is happy GB won in the last ten seconds with a field goal?

What did the teachers used to say?  The exception that proves the rule—something I never understood. The Wrath of Khan was a significant exception.

It's the same prove as "Proving ground" and means test - the exception tests the rule (to see if it is a bad rule or if the exception is explicable within the rule).

touchdowns are better than field goals.  But I'm glad they won.

Complaint:  I gave in and looked up a partial walkthrough for "Firmament" game.sad  But it showed me that I had missed a major section of the ice factory, back at the beginning of the game.  Tricky, tricky, finicky puzzles.frown  Spent two hours on it tonight, and again I'm stuck,no but it was fun finding new places to examine.yes

Non-complaint about a health complaint:   I finally found someone to get me to a major heart health test at 7:00AM on the 30th.  Too early for the bus, and county medical transport services around here don't start until 7:00AM  All my friends are as old as me and in about as bad a condition as I am so I don't like getting them out of bed so early, but one volunteered.yes  Now all I have to do is survive for one more week, which is becoming more iffy every night.  I can't walk up stairs without my heart threatening to explode, so I've been sleeping in my TV recliner chair which forces me to sleep on my back.  I haven't had a good night's sleep in two weeks, which is, I'm sure, not helping the situation any.  If necessary I'll call 911 again and get an ambulance to the emergency room and get myself properly checked into the hospital so I can get some sleep.  That will force the cardiologist to come look at me before my scheduled appointment.  Mwaa-ha-ha.  The heart test is a "Nuclear Stress Test" but it's already been postponed once because of a shortage of radioactive Technitium(specifically 99mTc) that they use to observe what's going on in my heart.  If I miss the appointment I lose my place in line.  The 99mTc only has a half-life of 6 hours so it has to be made in a reactor, shipped and used quickly (within a day at least) to have enough left for the test.  i.e.  "If you snooze, you lose."frown

I think in the end I'll be getting a pacemaker. (there goes the rest of my savings, even with Medicare insurances)

Whoo! managed to get a ticket for Floor Jansen (the singer for Nightwish) solo, in September next year - that'll give me something to look forward to :-) It won't be as metal as her Nightwish repertoire, but with her voice I don't care if she sings the phone book.

Singing a phone book would be hard as I don't know if they make them anymore?

I thought I got tickets to see Venom on Sunday, but found out too late that I got tickets for today.  I did get the right tickets for Sunday after I noticed my error.

Honestly, I thought Floor was kind of wasted on Nightwish. When Tarja left, they went in a more radio-rock direction than their earlier symphonic/operatic metal (largely, I suspect, because their new singer couldn't hang), and from what I've heard, mostly kept the same sound when they got Floor.

Love her and the band. Been listening to them for a long time and Floor since her first band. I'd love to get a hold of tickets.

Of all the subscription services I pay for, my favorite by far is the music service. Not only can I listen to all of the new music and every CD I was unable to afford in the past, but I can even listen to the random band I heard about on some internet forum that has nothing to do with music. I don't know what I would do if I had to choose between the music and Amazon Prime.

I use Amazon prime to listen to music.

..I have Prime, but mainly use it for the fast to my door delivery.  Thursday Night Football is rather unwatchable due to all the buffering pauses (which of course do not occur during adverts). That has is also why I don't bother with watching other programming on it as well.  I have a fast connection which supposedly should let me stream sports and films without issues so I think it is the ancient hardware I am running it through (don't have an actual television).

It just rained cows here. The sky is destroyed and my brother has their neighbor's patio umbrella in his backyard but at least everybody has a cow.
