It was a surprise when I first saw everything blurred out but just enabling the content to be shown fixed the issue. Maybe they need to do a serious reevaluation on what's "mature" but I like that they added the option just in case I'm browsing somewhere where digital bikini or leather and laced digital women in pumps aren't appropriate.
I think if they continue with this, they should at least ensure that the main promo image is not flagged as mature!
The mature content checkbox has been around a while. I always had it checked. I can't say about the blurring - I saw it today, I went into my account and re-checked the box. As for what is considered "mature content" here, the site owners seem to proceed with extreme caution.
AFAIK (as far as I have seen) there is nothing on this site that merits this sort of treatment. It's totally laughable to regulars and gives any random newcomer the wrong impression.
I could swear I had checked this option way back when I joined, but perhaps I am misremembering. Either way, I re-checked it and it stifles the silliness.
I think they removed the checkbox there when they removed it from the store, it sure wasn't there a little while ago when I was checking my account settings

Richard, I just popped in to the site to build a cart, when I looked at David Brennen's page in the sales area https://www.daz3d.com/streamers-basement-setup not only was the front image blurred but many of the other promo shots were, but so were many of his other products were. I looked at the main page of the store and saw blurred out products everywhere. It was normal this morning.
I came to the Commons and found this thread, looked at my settings and found the box unchecked. Don't remember if I had it checked or not, but I had no issue this morning seeing images at all. I ticked the box and then went back to the https://www.daz3d.com/streamers-basement-setup and all the promo images appeared. Other than a bored teen sitting at a computer in a basement, there were no humans, just detailed images of the computer room, computer equipment, ...
What in the world about those images could be could be remotely considered slightly 'mature'?
Did someone write an algorithm and not check it first before springing it on us, again?

I too want to know what's with the "mature content" blurs! It was super annoying! I've never seen an item that was THAT bad on this site. The really bad thing is that the blocks are still there after I signed in to my account. I'm sure you know by common sense that I'm definitely not going to buy something I can't see!
Edit: I found the box for showing mature content, but this is still ridiculous!
Every time a change is made it is not thought through and tested properly, in my opinion. In the end the customers and PAs pay the price. I don't mind changes, upgrades, etc, as long as they are done properly. All the comments posted here attest to the fact this change was not done properly. I believe that progress just for progress's sake is a road that will lead nowhere.

I'm guessing from some of what's been blurred that someone just let an AI to decide what to blur. DAZ should consider having a human do a pass over what's been blurred and correct where it clearly went wrong.
This looks to me like the work of some hilariously badly trained AI - like people said here, going for everything with an inch of skin on display and nothing else matters
. I was confused, but now I think it' just so, so funny ... This AI is probably a nephew of the one that won't let me close an old FB account unless I provide it with ID that it then dutifully refuses to accept for 'technical errors'. Ah, brave new world ... We're in for so much fun, guys ...

What's mature these these days?
I'd guess it's a start, and if you do it or plan on extending, you better not miss too many items actually considered mature, for legal reasons. So there likely is a machine-learning-based system, and it'll overblock on the occasion. I hope there is a system for PAs to "discuss" results ;). And yes, likely daz doesn't have the resources of google and microsoft, whose solutiones aren't even perfect, they just have all the users, data and revenue to train from. Content-ID vs. Bach is a historical example of what we don't really want to see.

I think having this filter is a great addition ( https://www.daz3d.com/customer/account/edit/ ). Later they can add some granularity as to what is filtered. I would recommend a better (stylish) image for blocked images.
A 3D IRAY rendered icon and text in the style of the ESRB ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?search=ESRB&title=Special:MediaSearch&go=Go&type=image ) should not be a giant challenge for an artist working at DAZ. Please atleast make some effort to prettify your Mature Content Image.
I think all this would make more sense if there were any actual mature content on the site.

Is this market-specific? I'm not seeing blurring, and the box for mature images in my account is not checked.
On the other hand, I did re-install uBlock on Safari because a site I frequent started using really annoying pop-up adds.

I had a look at those links and none are censored for me.
When I'm not logged in nothing is censored.
When I am logged in nothing is censored either.
EDIT: My "Show Mature Images" is off BTW.
They must be serving up different test versions of the website changes to different people. That said, just after I started getting all the annoying blurred images, I turned on "Show Mature Images" as soon as I figured out how to get to that checkbox.
