I've considered this high priced graphic card situation and come to the conclusion that it's out of my league. For my artwork I'm perfectly satisfied with what I do with what I've got. There are a lot more important things I can spend $1000 on. All this new IRAY stuff for me is without merit.
I've even considered the need to get yet another computer of any sort. I have four now capable of running Windows 7 or 8 or even 10 if needs be. They are rarely ever all on at the same time and two of them are rarely on at all. With care and a few spare parts they'll probably last longer than I will. I do admit the need to get some device capable of staying up with technology for safe web browsing and shopping and banking, etc but those are rapidly approaching the category "appliance". If I can avoid the "gotta have the latest gadget and gotta have it NOW" mentality I should be OK till the moment when on my deathbed I have my computers all gathered around me and grab a shotgun to blow them all to bits. (Advice to mourners: stay of of my bedroom at the end of my time.)
Still snowing, but lightly. Tomorrow I'll have to grapple the problem of getting the driveway cleared without having a heart attack, and diplomatically telling the young tenants in the other half of the house that they're lazy, cheap SOBs. Considering parking my car at the lower end of the driveway and see how they like it when they come home from work.
i'll have to stop wimping out and go to work tomorrow,
remember the fun of lining up the motherboard with the jumpers?
I wanted to get Gia 7 but had to pay my phone bill instead.
I think the "funnest" part of my career was in the early 70's when computers consisted of multiple circuit boards that plugged into a wiring backplane and you had to configure the jumpers on the backplane to route data and control signals from one card to the next. Manuals spelled it all out but the wizard in the room knew the manual by heart and watched the apprentices with amusement when the computer didn't work and then handed them the manual. But the best part was when the wizard could see the lightbulbs go on in the apprentice's head when they grok'ed the importance & logic of the jumpers.
Morning. Gentle raim falling from a luminous grey sky a few drops at a time, just enough to freshen things up a little and wash some smoke from the air :)
hard core binary programming :)
Everyone gets PC prices for a day...? Megh, I missed that too...
I'm having a crappy time with 3D coat... I bought it last week (or thereabouts) and today was the first day I really got to try and make something with it... I keep finding bugs and it's really annoying... I can't even get started. Very, very frustrated.
Now I'm waiting for some answers over on their site... I feel impatient.
That and apparently I've starting drinking like a Viking... Lately I keep tilting the glass back to fast or too much and for whatever reason I get whatever I'm drinking running down my chin... Like right now, I have water all over my collar.... What the hell... I feel like such a slob.
I'm not even gonna mention this anywhere else but here, but now I've confirmed this happens and it's not my vivid talking raccoon filled imagination.... You know how when you click on a thread you have visited before and it takes you to the last page you were on? It's been confusing me lately, but now I'm pretty sure for whatever reason the thread randomly loads incompletely... Right before I made my last post above, I read the other posts on the last page it showed... 62. But after I made my post it showed there were 63 pages. I definitely looked and saw it was on the last page, which was 62... The last post on 62 was like 4 o'clock, it was 6:11 when I just made my last post... So it's not like a bunch of people posted all of a sudden...
Megh, whatever... It's not the apocalypse... Wait, it isn't, is it?... It doesn't seem like it. Whatever.
I want coffee, but I am afraid it will make me wake up in the middle of the night

Yeah, now that you describe it, that's happened to me a few times too. I just thought I was senile, so I didn't mention it.
It is probably too late for coffee as it is seven pm and I do want some sleep tonight.
Yep, I was digging through my spare parts box a few weeks ago and found a SCSI terminator for a Sun computer, a couple of BNC "T"s, and a BNC terminator for thin Ethernet. I even had a vampire tap for a thick ethernet cable.
vampire tap?????
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire_tap
Or possibly a device used to get beer out of a barrel during a stag party at Dracula's castle.
Or possibly a device to pierce the boundary of Hell and drain it of vampires.
Or possibly a song danced to using fancy footwork by a vampire with cleats on his shoes.
hard core binary programming :)
hehe yes the small computer satanic interface needed jumpers to tell what device was where otherwise the whole SCSI chain looked like it died XD
