Generally the bigger the prize the more people enter (and probably the more tickets they buy, on average) so while the odds of a particular entrant's winning go down the odds of soemone's winning go up - as do the odds of a split win, of course.
If I won, I would put it in a vault like this.
i bouht my quik pick this morning. the store dude says, 'only one?'.
only need one ticket to dream the dream.
one thing i wouldn't do, i wouldn't put it in offshore accounts. the weight of the economy would rest on my shoulders.
i'd ride the bus for a few days giving out sacks of cash to my fellow commuters.
I wouldn't give money to any chairities, have my own ideas of how a charity should be, been on the needy end too often to know how much the current system sucks. my soup kitchens would have rows and rows of recliner chairs with heat control, something like an airport waiting room, with highly paid employees bringing food to all the people sittin in recliners. still working out how the toilet showers should be set up. I remember washing my hair in a sink at the chicago bus terminal (oh yeah, the years of 1984, 1987 really really sucked for me), a whole shower woulda been much nicer.
Snow, snow, snow, and much more coming before Thursday. Wet gloppy stuff too.
I'm a bit worried about cleaning off my car and getting the driveway clear enough to get up and down the slope. My new neighbor family in the other 2/3rds of the house don't seem to be as interested in keeping the driveway clear as all the other tenants have been. I can't do it. I'm afraid of a heart attack every night when I climb the stairs to go to bed.
For the last 7 winters, the other tenant would make arrangements either to have the driveway plowed or do it themselves with snow blowers and pickup truck & plow or even shovel. I've always gone over afterwards and offered some cash for his efforts and expenses. But this new guy just muscles his truck up and let's his wife get their car stuck half way up the drive. The previous tenants would sometimes even knock most of the snow off my car after a big storm without me asking. Luckily I don't have to go anywhere for the next few weeks and I could walk to the grocery store and post office if necessary. But I am prepared with plenty of frozen and canned and dry goods. I might run out of milk and eggs though. (should have bought that big box of powdered milk last time I went grocery shopping)
Powdered milk? Yuk! Bad childhood memories!
Dana
Powdered milk was better with Bosco™ in it.
If I won the lottery, I would be shocked as I did not enter.
don't worry, got ya covered, and all my threadmates.
these our numbers. i might buy another ticket tomorrow. 2 tickets, 2 different dreams.
a map of the old wagon trails. Portland had it's own wagon trail, the Oregonian.
i guess the western states stayed out of the civil war? ... if they were states back then.
old west was really all about the gold, wasn't it, the gold rush.
Morning. Puffy white clouds sailing on an ocean of deep blue sky, some shaped like B-List celebs but upside down, about the most exciting thing happening so far today and one of those whatever you do don't go out in the sun hot days coming up :)
Arizona wasn't admitted to the United States until February 14, 1912. So, it wasn't even a state during the Civil War.
1848 United States won the Mexican War and gained all of Arizona, north of the Gila River through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
1853 The rest of Arizona becomes part of United States by the Gadsden Purchase
1863 Territory of Arizona is created by Congress, with Prescott as capital.
Though gold and silver were discovered in Arizona, the greater commodity was copper.
Unorganized Territory? Too bad they didn't keep the name... I wonder what the capital of Unorganized would have be?
Albany
If I were to win this big powerball lottery, I'd make sure everyone I care about was taken care of and would never have to worry about finances and such... I'd make/build the kind of car I want, I'd get all the tools I can't afford, a good CNC milling unit and lathe, a couple of 3D printers, good wielding equipment and small injection molding unit... I'd also set up a scholarship fund and mentoring program for kids with a knack for inventing stuff... Or maybe like some kind of community "open shop" where kids could go to learn how to hands-on make stuff ... Our society falls over itself making athletes, but we do virtually nothing for kids who are mechanically inclined or are natural tinkerers and inventors... I'd rather give a kid a shot at actually creating something that might benefit mankind and pave the way for an actual better future, then contribute to something that in the grand scheme of history is meaningless. I'd probably also adopt some stray cats and dogs and at least one grizzly bear and maybe and alligator or two for the moat... Oh, yeah I'd put a moat around my house... I always wanted a nice moat... Oh and I'd probably build my own version of a real working bat suit... And use it frequently.
If I win the lottery, forget you read that last part, okay.
That would be appropriately unorganized, considering the unorganized territory was out west.
As in NY Albany or a different Albany?
Could be Albany, Oregon. That's out west. But I still think Albany, NY would win hands down for an "unorganized" title regardless of it's location. Being a resident of NY State who cares about how it's run, I read the newspapers with dismay over the blatant graft and corruption and greed that has been going on for years. But at least it's finally being exposed and talked about instead of being swept under the rug.
Snow, snow, and more snow. As I sit here in my comfy chair with my granny blanket over me sipping hot chocolate and watching the local news show scenes of Interstate pileups, drifting waves of snow, and cancelled school and events, and knowing that I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow or for a couple of weeks. One of the more pleasant aspects of being retired.
Talk is cheap. And even so, too many don't bother...they text!
You know what talking about it means, right? Committees! And committees get bribed. There it goes...
