Keybeegee
Omg "Keybeegee" - love it Wendy! I just had to say that multiple times and had to laugh every single time. Am definitely going to pronounce it like that going forward if I ever have to.
Queue-Bag made me think of TeaBag
if you know, you know
Does anyone want to claim today's dForce Twin Ponytails? It looks nice, but knowing who made it can significantly impact my likelihood to buy it.
Wishlisted too. Can likely make use of a variety of uniforms, to illustrate different factions. What holds me off a bit, is the perceived lack of "kind of forces" patches, i.e. "space forces" and "Ghost Army" only (and nothing, maybe, which is pretty good per se). This may be a non-issue, if i can alter/make patches easily myself.
(To elaborate, you could have some for Sci-Fi, like Station personnel, Orbital, Interstellar, Deep Space, Planetary, Escort (for commercial), "Marines" ~ always need marines. And just maybe even more plain stuff for idiots like me, e.g. infantry, mechanized, mecha, deck crew, ?, engineers, etc... and so on. Or just have nowadays symbols plus a little bit. The blue color on "space forces" i find somewhat irritating for some reason. As mentioned above, this may be a non issue, if i can just alter/add some patches myself in an efficient way.)
While I appreciate the attempt at realisim with this US Civil War uniform, I cannot figure out why in the promo images the human figure and the shirt seem to have the shape of female breasts. Weren't (most?) Civil War soldiers in uniform male?

.
Because all of the promos with the grey figure, or with the clothing in plain grey are clearly showing base shapes, or morphs from the base shape.
Even if the intention that an outfit is intended to specifically fit a specific final shape (we've seen a lot of clothing marketed as "For Victoria 7" or the like over the years), the way that morph following tech works means that by default clothes take the Genesis base's shape and are then morphed to fit. If a vendor shaped the clothing specifically for a male G9 shape, it *would not work* because that's not G9's standard shape.
Because it's the base Genesis 9 shape, without any other morph dialed in.
I would not worry about that: the main render shows how the uniform look on a man, and 'Base Masculine' is among the supported shapes.
Thank you for the explanation, @Matt_Castle and @Elor. It's a nice looking uniform.
I am no expert on the US civil war, so I wondered if those that know better can decide if the colours better match a unionist uniform or a confederate one. At first glance it seems too light for the former and too dark for the latter.
https://www.daz3d.com/ah-madison-monokini-outfit-for-genesis-9-8-and-81-female looks nice - from the front.
If anyone buys it anyway and would care to share any view of the back of the outfit, that would be appreciated, because I'm not planning on going through a buy-and-return cycle solely to find out what the entirely unshown rear view looks like.
Unionists had blue uniforms like these (darker blue jackets and lighter blue pants). Confederate ones were light grey.
FC2C's PBR Paper Shaders are actually looking really interesting, I've had a quick look at the maps and it looks like they've included translucency maps on the thinner papers (not all the papers but I guess that makes sense because some of them are thick card I guess) I'm thinking of some candle lit scene I can do with like the shadows going through the paper (kind of like one of their promos) but yeah I'm quite excited about this one especially since its not just stationary paper, the artisan stuff looks really good. I bought FC2C's Leather Shaders before so I've got high hopes for these.

Second on the paper shaders.
The paper shaders look great. How to limit temptation to get them. Decisions, decisions.
Thank you! This really means a lot, I'm always so surprised when I see my products mentioned in the forum it's very uplifting!
I'm super glad you like the look of them! Really glad they stood out, I worked quite hard on them aha even if you don't get a chance to buy them, just knowing people like them is really nice :)
Aha maybe I shouldn't reply to everyone but I'm really excited that so many people like my Paper shaders! thank you for your support
I was just coming here to comment on these. They look luxuriant, like they will need to be a co-star in the render. Bravo on your leather shaders too. You obviously have too much time on your hands, and I'm glad you do!
Awww crumbs this might be the lovliest compliment ever aha unfortunately I work this around a fulltime job though! I'd love to see what people can do with my creations aha once I send them off that's usually the last I see of them XD
Colors are correct for the Union, but you have to take into account render settings and different art styles in period art or history books.
Back then there was no real consistency with different shades of color or clothing details even in the armies that were uniformed. If soldiers in the same regiment had similar shade of dark of blue on them, it was about as good as it could get.
By the way, this latest Daz+ offering:
https://www.daz3d.com/infantry-fighting-vehicle
This should not be named an IFV. Bradley is IFV. BMP is IFV. IFV is a precise term, it means a very specific thing. This product is a drone vehicle. It definitely can't fit a team of infantry guys inside.
mass production wasn't really a thing so one could imagine they were not all cut from the same cloth
I really like KOO Ephraim. https://www.daz3d.com/koo-ephraim-hd-for-genesis-9 Lots of character.
YES! He is a great looking character, with a whole lot of character.
I really like MB Yoya's head sculpt and textures, but can't see myself ever using her body morph.
The body is far too grown-up and stylised for the almost childlike face. I don't know... Yoya's face is certainly very well done, but to me she's just another character in the almost endless line of pale, sickly and slightly sub-depressed looking East Asian (pre-)teens. A strange genre...
(Pre-)teen? That is clearly an adult face. There are 40-year-old Korean women who could be mistaken for some of those renders.
True, Asian people sometimes look very young. But you can still tell whether someone is an adult or a teenager. Perhaps I'm more 'experienced' at recognising Asian faces, because for a European city there are an above-average number of Asians living in our town. Anyway, I don't think Yoya's face really looks grown-up and that her face and body don't really match.
I guess perception depends on where you were raised, and it's hard to break that. People age young where I come from, so when I moved to Finland it was a shock to the system. People here hit thirty looking like nineteen-year-olds back home. With environment and diet, I didn't age much either, I visit home and my peers look so... old. You simply can't take another culture's face and bash it for looking unaged. I see an adult when I look at Yoya. Inversely, the Kansas boy in me understands why someone would see her that way.
