I'm not sure why you would wish that. Isn't competetion supposed to be healthy? Both organisations have their merits and problems but I rather like having an alternative - especially since that particular alternative has moved on from Victorian attitudes to nudity and I can actually see what I'm buying without having to guess from overly-censored promos. But to the point - it took me quite a while to move from G3 to G8 and during that time I was still able to buy content for G3 at Rendo, albeit that much of that content was dual-purpose (G3 + G8).
I agree with Marble.
...an interesting observation. I have a lot of clothing content dating back to Gen3. I also have the "Wear Them All" utility which included clones back to Gen3. I've successfully fitted A3 clothing to G3F characters with only minor adjustments needed. I have noticed the trend to "reissue" old clothing and hair content.
For example Mall Girl, which was originally released for G1 in the Young Teens 5 Pro Bundle was re-released for G3 at a higher price.. Likewise the Annabelle Dress, originally released for V4, was updated for G2F, again at a slightly higher price. I never purchased the updates ad the originals work just fine.
One older clothing that I did repurchase whne it was released for G3 was 3D Wizard's updated Jeanz only because it included more fitting and morph capability than the original as well as fits for G3M. (the original was released for A3, V4 and M4, all as separate products). If there is a significant change like this than yes, I consider it worth purchasing again. With G8 the transfer to G3 became more problematic due in part to the change in defaulyt pose along with a wider use of hierarchal materials which do not transfer over in the autofit. There are workarounds but I find them "clumsy" to deal with..
As to hair content, I have been manually fitting and parenting hair for many years as it is fairly simple and preserves styling movement morphs that could be lost in autofit (many Gen4 hairs fit to the neck bone and since G2 that was divided into upper and lower segments causing the morphs to sometimes be lost as the fit target changed). Autofit would also sometimes distort the mesh resulting in a "kink" at the base of the neck and often in the back of longer hair.
The one reason I bought into G8 a bit was because of the more interesting and unique characters offered outside of the usual Daz core "stable". I only have V8 because she was free as a loyalty bonus.
...if I did that I'd be in traction for weeks.
And Bicycle's don't create pollution. I like that! LOL
I must be on the G9 wheelbarrow then
bring your own crap, dig up some hot and steaming from the vast library I have
must figure out the eyes though

And I hope that my favourite Rendo PAs stay where they are... being able to see the effects of "adult" morphs for clothing and full uncensored textures for figures is something I don't want to miss.
I messed around with it and im going to take a hard pass on it until the adult content creators can get caught up.
But even then, to be honest Im really not impressed with G9, and I have not made or have seen anything created with G9 that I cant do with 8/8.1 up to this point. This is all based on the type of art that I make though.
So it will probably be a while for me.
But on a bright note, I have seen some PA`s on other sites say that they will still be making stuff for G8/8.1
Thank you very much! :D It's actually not as hard to do this as I was afraid it might be, although it needs a lot of cleanup. Sitting is a huge improvement; the legs really wanted to be skewed outward on G8 and it made any kind of upper thigh rotation act strangely.
Renderosity's store has a decidedly different flavor than the Daz3D store. Lets not have a repeat of RuntimeDNA.
Absolutly, competition is very important. It's just that Rendo... ahm...
Well, let's skip it. We are loosing tracks here ;-)

NICE Lee! Very nice!
Thank you so much, Richard!! :)

Creating for DForce genesis 9 - preserving thickness
The very generous Mada posted a video on DForce dynamic add-ons, which can be used to support thickness in DForce garments (among other uses). I posted a series of screenshots with explanation of one application of the method for a simple shirt for Genesis 9. The first post also links to Mada's video tutorial.
In the first few posts (modeling), I use Carrara to model in the garment in the example, but the same principles and steps apply to any modeler. Most of the meat of the screenshot series is in Daz Studio.
So, um, yeah, I am back on the Genesis 9 train.
See screenshot tutorial here. Diomede's Notepad, Sketchpad, and Chilling Pad - Page 13 - Daz 3D Forums
just jumped totally off the 9 train. waiting for my refund.
In five pages of rendo there are no signs of M4 or V4, one or two per page of La femme. The rendo market is dominated by Genesis 8 and second genesis 9 with a healthy amount of products despite being a new figure. In a couple of months we will know the preference of customers in both stores. At least G9 seems to have started with good pace in rendo.
Threw G9 into C4D for a quick Arnold render, with the only G9 hair and clothes I own so far.
I want to thank the PA's who continue to create G8 content. It's because of you I still shop here.
PwToon and my custom skin texture for G9. I can't for the life of me find the eye texture I made, but I just wanted to see what the model would look like with this particular shader. Also slapped the G1 Hiro 5 eyebrows on him, because I wanted to see if they'd autofit. Yup! They do! When I stop being broke as all get out, I'm gonna need to try those G9 Toon Hero morphs with this shader. I bet they'll look awesome! Its fun mixing "obsolete" with "cutting edge!"
I'll wait until the tracks are fixed.
Might take a while, as they have to be get laid first.. so.. two more weeks probably..
I'm more on the G9 kiddy car than a train.
But DS 4.21 didn't make my potato PC explode and seems to work better than 4.16 did. It hasn't punched holes in renders so far, anyway. And while I can't tell if even a basic scene fits on the GFX card any more (because absolutely nothing did in 4.16), I left my test render of G9 overnight expecting to find it at ~5,000 iterations this morning, and discovered instead that it was at 15,000. So I picked up the morph bundle (and grudgingly the year PC+ subscription because it was only ~$2 more than the quarterly on sale) and here I am I guess.
EDIT: Did a couple of experiments yesterday and discovered I can actually get a portrait to fit on the card (GTX960M) and figured out how to 'read' the output to see if it fits or not. The previous render was NOT on the card but on CPU, which is even more impressive to find what it'd got to. (Guess I better stop setting it to 50k iterations as a private joke knowing it'd never reach it; if I forget about a render now it might actually manage it.) The one that fit on the card got to ~2,500 iterations in 37 minutes, which is faster than any previous version for my little potato, so... I'm actually happy to have upgraded for once. I even like G9, even if I've already been converting female clothing to male characters for years.
All I've got to do now is get to grips with what seems to be 4.21's slightly more overzealous approach to lighting.
...running 4.21 on an over decade old W7 system with a 4 generation old Titan-X and it seems to render G8 (without HD) just fine.
I have now seen two cases of established character creators where their G9 content so far is a significant step down in quality from their G8 content.
I don't necessarily think this means G9 is inferior to G8 - I have seen some lovely G9 content as well - but I think at the very least the learning curve must be quite significant.
Also, both those creators don't sell through the official DAZ store. Which lends credence to the idea that G9 is hard to deal with for creators that don't have access to HD tools. If this is true it might lead to even more monopoly for DAZ Studio, who has a huge monopoly to begin with because they own the Genesis and Gen4 line of figures. Doesn't sound like a great thing to me.
Daz, or Daz 3D, is the company - Daz Studio is the application.
With the recent additions for Genesis 9:

I can finally reuse a lot of the contents accumulated over the years of my adventure with Daz 3D.
Below is an iray render of Genesis 9 with the skin from:

Hair is from: https://www.daz3d.com/fe-long-hair-vol-01-for-genesis-8-female
What about your render is materially better than it would have been if you rendered your original figures? What makes you think G9 is making it better? It doesn't look that great or special, and your argument is nonsense. First of all, it's all G8, so not that old. Second of all, you could render the content any time you want. Maybe if there were some transformation in what you were doing that only G9 could accomplish, I might be impressed, but all you've done is translate G8 to G9 for no noticeable gain.
My point is, that now I can experiment more with Genesis 9 and do not abandon my old content for Genesis 8.
I am always for innovations in 3D world, but have limited resources, both in money and time.
But you are right, many of the users of the content from Daz 3D may stay with Genesis 8, 8.1 or even older generations.
It is entirely up to the personal taste.
G9/V9 doesn't have any 8K textures or maps.
V9 did have 1 when she was released, but it was removed shortly afterwards and replaced with a 4k version.
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/87472/start
"...
Resolved Issues
2022-10-27 updated texture maps
2022-11-07 updated leg Texture map to reduce from 8K to 4K..."
V9 does have better textures that are implemented better than previous generations.
Just replacing textures and maps with bigger resolutions isn't going to make for better renders.
Starting with high quality textures and using improved texturing techniques is going to give better results with same 4k resolution.
Daz is a business, so it needs to remain profitable or it won't stay open for long.
Daz also has the best characters and character system on the market right now.
Nobody is doing what they do for such a low price.
Other companies are doing 3D characters, none compare to what you will get with Daz characters.
Nothing is going to happen to your older characters. You will be able to use them for a very long time.
You can still use V4, which is getting close to 20 years old,in current version of Daz Studio and even apply more modern shaders to her for use in iray if you want.
---
I'll agree with you on the optimization. Daz and Nvidia need to work together to reduce the resource requirements, if possible, but not reduce quality.
