    A Pinto?

Ford had a thing about old western animal themes, didn't they?  Pinto, Mustang, Maverick.

And birds of prey, Thunderbird, Falcon...I'm sure there are others, can't think of them at the moment.

...I remember when I was living in Seattle there was a fellow who drove a black Pinto around with a flame paint job going from the back end to the front rather than from front to back.

Interestingly , it seems Lamborghini has this issue now with the Aventador.

The backwards flames job is really a clever dig...

Went to the Sketchup warehouse yesterday. What I found was they are no longer giving the program away with a trial time period. What they have now is an online section that you can use for free for a time period. Then you must buy the program to continue. So, I registered for it and went through all the pages of questions only to be told in the end that my browser would not support the online thing. Now I have two browsers here, current explorer and one that came with my windows 10. You would think they would aaccept explorer since it's the most popular browser out there. Really sucked! So, I rummaged through some of my old program exe files and I found a copy of the 2017 version and I installed it. It works just fine on windows 10. But it is a trial version, so I have to download files, resave them for version 7, which I have the full pro version of, open them in it and export them as .obj files to open in Daz.

While I was there, I visited "Lowriderfreak" cars. He and Cayote have the best. He has added tons and tons of GTA cars and Mafia cars. They all look good except they are all off named cars bareing similarities to American cars. Like the 57 chevy is not a chevy it is another name and there are differences from the Chevrolet. That sucks too. Tons of them! However he still has all the American cars he did, but I have most all of them. I did find a nice copy of the 1970 Dodge Charger drag car. I converted it and brought it into Daz and when I rendered it the shadow was way off. Never had that happen before, ever. So I had to put it on an actual 'floor" here using a 90 degree bent plane. Here is what I got.

...ahh, some MoPar Muscle.  Love it.

Yeah I gave up on the warehouse ever since Google dumped sold Sketchup off.

I did this one a while back. Wasn't sure what car I used as I got it from a site now gone. I later realized it was a 1937 Buick. I used an HDRI on the enviro sphere for the background. I think this render turned out very realistic. I got lucky...haha.

If you told me you took this photo on a trip in Cuba, I would have absolutely believed you

    Some models here http://animium.com/

Some free some not various formats and quality

....can't view anything as the site is so "jumpy". Keeps going on about my adbllocker (getting tired of sites doing this as adverts take up more bandwidth andoften include pop ups so I have to disable my pop up blocker as well), so I cannot even check the formats these models are in.

..ahh yes been there.  A few .objs, however mostly .lwo and .3ds which need converting.

Hmm I run Adguard and Privacy Badger and have no problems

Some come with multiple formats in the zip files some don't  mostlt 3ds 3dmax and obj

...would like to look at them (that Chevy Impala seemed nice) them but just so against turning off adblocking.  Did have Privacy Badger installed but still ran afoul of accessing some sites and had to turn it off as well.

The bottom line is, I have no interest in purchasing 99.999...% of what I see in online adverts nor the income to, so their sponsors are getting no revenue from me anyway.

..OK disabled adblock on Animium, downloaded a model (the 59' Cadillac) but it required a password to even look at the folder contents let alone extract it. Never seen that before.

I also cannot find a file format listed anywhere

Have had a couple that required a password but it was there on the page right above the download link or in the comments most don't require one

    This one's in the comments

Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz 1959 3d model

Included 3d formats – 3ds max and Obj.

...just caught that. Coiped it pasted and was able to extract the Cadillac.  Seen a couple of these here in Portland, always a head turner.

Also seems that for some models you need a specific membership level (so badly wanted that A-10 and 747-8).

  • Robert FreiseRobert Freise Posts: 4,449

Yeah sometimes I almost consider looking into the requirements for the levals

Now how you feel on that A-10 and the 747-8 I really wanted them also

...bugger, was so glad to get the 68 EU compact (Austin Mini clone) on sale.  Then when I began working on it tonight (converting materials the Iray)  I discovered during a test render that many if the curved areas like the windscreen frame, tyres rims and wheel wells are not smoothly curved. Really wanted it for some scenes in my story but it just looks too rough.  I know it's an old model but even at a moderate distance, the tyres and wheel wells look bad.

Opened the mesh Hexagon to find it is a mix of quads, tris and ngons so using smoothing or sub_D is out.

Unable to find any free models of an older Mini in ,obj format that has UVs (one site I looked at surprisingly had one in .duf format, but they wanted 75$ for it!).

Yeah, I can get a credit refund as I am still within the 30 day limit, but very disappointed.

...now that looks better.  Does it retain it's material zones in the conversion?

  • hacsarthacsart Posts: 2,025

Pretty well.. Only issue is that the underside and body are the same material zone...

  • GLWoodardGLWoodard Posts: 3,335

Thats better than the underside being a part of the chrome material zone!

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,062

...that shouldn't be an issue.  Is the roof a separate zone?
