better?
Wow serious knobbies there
I've gotten decent models off of the warehouse with decent tires and wheels, and some like this, no spokes or tread, of course I've seen models like that come from sharecg as well.
Mucho Better!
Same here and sometimes totally unusable
You ain't wistlin' Dixie there, some are totally unusable!
Third time the charm?? I do wish Daz had the same options as Bryce for moving, rotating , and scaling objects - as in being able to select the operations based on "Camera Space, World Space or Object Space"
Looks good
I did it for seven years. Never left the first page in the freebie forum. My secret was, always offer good prizes. I would get vendors t contribute nice ones for pitches all through the month. I did a scavenger hunt once where the items were on vendors pages, you had to go find the items (with clues given each day) and copy the page url. Then you had to post all the urls at once. If one wasn't right, I would simply say "not right urls". This way it kept it a secret from the rest. It became a "challenge". Not just a contest. Folks loved it! Vendors loved the traffic and sold items randomly. Each month more vendors would apply to give prizes. I also made a prize each month to give for second and third places. I created "honorable Mentions" for those who were boarderline winners. They got gifts from me. I opened a 4SHARED account and put my prizes, mention gifts and "entry gifts" for all who entered. I then could give each a page url and password to get their prizes and gifts. I changed the password each week so nobody could use it again. It worked flawlessly. When you offer and entry gift, you get business...lol. We would get tons of entries. July and October were best months with the "Summer fun and sun" and "Monster mash halloween bash.". It went viral. I always made my own banners for the month and posted them at the bottom of the post. That way, when ever someone would post in any forum, the banner would show. That brought business too. It became such a hit on the site. Like I said...we never left the first page in the forum. That was for 7 years. Unheard of here! I finally got too busy with my business to continue to host the contest. After I left, everything was changed and it is now what it is. They started letting just anyone host, and that was a mistake because some folks are just lame...haha. The prizes went away with the vendors and they started giving vouchers to the Daz store in place of prizes. That was ok. But ever since I left, years ago, the amount has remained the same for the vouchers. That has not changed. I have been in there a few times, but hardly any entries, and not so good art. We had like 30 or 40 each month and all were great artists. I even had one member here created a character just for the contest each month. Louie! He would make a funny render and enter each month. Too much fun! This character WAS a character..lol. So...just take all this into consideration and I hope it will help you see just howmuch work went into making the challenge a success, that it was. Not just me, but all who helped each month. It was worth all of it to me, and I know to all who participated each month.
Nice Yamaha! I have been to that site, It has lots of bikes and parts, for CAD though.
I just bought this right before I came in here..haha. There are two more by the guy, a hot rod truck and a roadster. Both look good but both are 20 bucks. Drop the price to 13, like this one and I would buy them. Gonna go play with this and Toms shaders...hehehe.
YES....just sweeter...lol.
especially the ones in .obj format. All exploded with parts missing.
Or the ones in 3DS fornat, those are the worst about being exploded!
Yeah.. sometimes it takes a bit of work to make grabcad stuff workabel. I have a copy of Simlab, which can import Solidworks, so I usually pull the model inot Simlab, export as .obj, import into Bryce, assign a flat gray material to all surfaces, epxort as .obj, and import into Daz, using the Bryce import setting. Then scale and texture.. Usually works ok!
Yeah I remember a tank model that even with the camera backed up to like -90,000 it wasn't completly visiable
I had a couple of sketchup models that had to originally be 3DS models at one time, came into Blender all exploded, fortunately, when you import one of those into blender, everything comes in highlighted, and you can just scale everything down to where you can put it all back together.
Playing around with one of Schurby's great models.
I found both of these cars on sale in the DAZ store for $4.89 each, couldn't pass that up, they shade up beautifully and are well detailed models for the money.
Better hurry, they are on sale through today!
When I was a kid, my uncle had one of those. It was sort of tan/gold.

Cool but all that chrome is on the verge of getting lost in that white pavement
True, very true!
Revisiting the Bentley...
Good one! Everything fits, looks very natural.

They are only $1.99 to platinum members. There are a bunch of old cars there for $1.99. I have both of these I got them when they came out many years ago.
I was thinking the same thing. Can't see it.
