1979 Z28 at the beach. Iray render.

I used to work in a factory shipping room with a guy who had a Z28.  It was older though, this was in the early to mid 70s.  I had my 69 Chrysler Newport.  Where we worked was at the bottom of the hill, the main drag, Plymouth Ave. in Fall River.  We both headed up the hill after work.  I'l blow him away every day.  One day he finally exclaimed, "How do you do that?  Every time?!"  Hey, the Newport was a boat...but it was a powerful boat.  laugh  A 383 with positraction rear end.  Built like a tank, too.

Edit:  I guess the expression was I'd blow his doors off.  I didn't kill him.  blush

A few more test renders of the '53 Eldorado, testing new shader presets I made for it, based on the illustrations in the sales folder. It's not possible to make 100% correct shaders, though, since the illustrations in the folder are drawings/paintings, not photos, but they're close approximations of the Cadillac colours. The pink paint is not in the '53 sales folder, but based on pictures of pink Eldorados from the late 1950s.

If anyone is interested in the shader presets (two rubber shaders, matte black and shiny white, five leather shaders and the five non-metallic car paint shaders in the renders below) I'll upload them as another freebie pack to my DeviantArt page.

I just started reading this thread, and when I got to your post, I was going to mention the best auto and military paint shaders that I've found, and free!
    At Tom2099 on DeviantArt...

And then I got to your signature line.

Thank you for providing these, I use them every day, especially your mirror and chrome shaders.
I use ParrotDolphin's leather shaders as well.

    @tomtom.w
Your aotomotive shaders are amazing.  Here's a few renders that I've done using them.  I tweaken the paint colors a little to try getting them a little closer to Mazda's factory colors.

I've been registered at sharecg for awhile, where do you think I always got my free cars from before the warehouse and later the gta sites?

Speaking of which, here is one featuring the 41 Caddy, Jessica Rabbit is still looking for who it was that framed Roger!

I've read through that tutorial, but it's basically useless to me since I don't have a full version of Poser, only an older free "Debut" version. Any tips on how to rig a vehicle strictly in DAZ Studio?

I believe it can be done in DAZ studio, just not made permanent like it can in Poser, and with Poser, since you can sinc your content from one to the other, once loaded in Poser, and saved as a prop, it will also be fully usable in DAZ studio and will show up in DAZ studio as a part of the content library in the Poser section.

Well then I'm definitely going to need someone who can rig vehicles.

I have never seen a 1958 Chevy Nomad. I always thought 57 was their last year. I assumed wrong I can see. Where did you get that model from, if you don't mind me asking. I would love to go get one for my collection. Super nice render.

It's from Turbosquid.. Birthday gift from the kids ...

The render is in 3dl, as Iray is not really an option on my all AMD system.. Glacially slow..

Very nice work!  In the city where I grew up, when I was a teenager, there was a girl who went by "Pinky"...she drove a pink Corvette Stingray.  I think it was more of a Barbie doll accessory pink, a little darker and brighter than the one on your panel truck.  I like the red on Piper.  Is that the new metal flake auto iray shader?

No, I don't have those shaders yet, I'm still using the old standby, Tom2099 shaders, as far as I can tell, Tom2099 set a really good standard with his freebie shaders!

Finally found my freebie Caddy again, and installed it as a prop in Poser 7, which is connected with DAZ Studio, so here is Big Mouth Bettie belting out one of her infamous tunes!

57 was the last 2 door version. 58 and later were 4 doors, which are still pretty cool.

Nice old Pontiac.  You don't see many of those protruding noses on the streets anymore.

And after 57, noone considered anything other than the 55 thru 57 true Nomad's, Chevrolet may have used the name, but it wasn't a true Nomad, and they didn't use the Nomad name for very long after the 57.
