This is a bad guy character I'm working on. I Was going for sort of a viking look. I call him The Unicorn because of the facial piercings.

The Viking look is good- wouldn't want to mess with him! Love your background too.

Honestly Serene your art is just really really good.  You've got a definite style that I think I would recognize even if I didn't know it was you.  A sci fi viking is totally cool!

Thanks ladies! The background was one I purchased way back when I used purchased backdrops more. After I purchased it, the backdrop bugged me because it was mostly a collage of real things thrown together in photoshop and didn't look realistic to me.

I took it into photoshop and totally obscured it using Topaz Lab impressions, which is a highly useful tool... I use topaz impressions a lot to change images in different ways. I then changed it around further with Nik tools.

I'm focusing a lot on using renders as starting points and doing more postwork.

Here we are, my latest piece. I was intrigued  by the technophilia volume I tentacles. I used them in this to pull Owen to safety.

    This is excellent!

Okay, in this image, I have illustrated how to use the color dodge tool.

    1. Your primary image must be at the bottom.

    2. A new layer filled all black must be on top. change that layer to color dodge.

    3. Change paint brush color to white.

    4. Use a brush like Deviney's War Essentials sparks and paint in white lightly where you want sparks on the black dodge.  the dodge layer will give the sparks a good color. Download my image above and try it out.

    5. If you make a mistake you can erase the mistake on the black layer by coloring it black.

Excellent color choices. Very vibrant image.  I'm now regretting not grabbing those tentacle during the sale on the weekend.  I like how you put them to use storywise.

The tentacles work nicely and are great value and they recolor well I think. Stonemason has a tentacle freebie on his site which is easy pose that you might like in case you missed that one

This guys started out as cat burgalars but the ski masks looked dorky... So I remembered about Shattered a really great product for 3delight, I decided to load it up and recolor it for iray. I thought it turned out nicely once I recolored the glass.

I haven't done a sime since I switched over to Iray. Mostly because all those arm tentacles just are super tough to pose, and well, I don't have a talent for modeling to graft them properly to the skin. But I converted this one over to iray.

For those who don't know I used to do a lot of Sime~Gen fan art.

Yeah! Josh Crocket made a great Grey Alien. He looks quite sinister. Loving in. Not sure why it didn't hit the store, here, but he looks good, eh? I added a few morphs to give him a more powerful build and longer look.

What an awesome image, Serene! I want him. The morph and skin are fantastic, and your composition, back lighting, and color choices work really well - especially the rim.

I have to agree. I think this is the best grey I've seen come out. And I love that he is genesis 3. =-)

Yeah - always much morph useful as a morph than as a stand-alone character.

I really like the versatility of Damen for Genesis 3 Male. Very cool character, and I particularly like his nose for some reason. Great piece of work.

Sime~Gen is a sci-fi series set in our distant future after the world has collapsed. Two races emerge, the gens, who are human energy batteries, and simes who are a bit like vampires who feed on the energy (they have the tentacles).  For a long time the two races are at war killing eachother to survive, until they discover that by cooperating wtih eachother they can achive great things and the unity is born. Simes feed off the life energy put out by the gens, and are able to move quickly (augment), and defend gens. Gens can donate their energy at centers to power batteries, and gadgets, cars, as well as give the simes energy. The experience is quite pleasurable when given freely. The gens regenerate energy over the month, and are able to replenish their energy supplies.

The story is probably a vampire allegory and is written by Star Trek writers so they are very science fiction orientated with romance.

It is a good series...If you can stand the tentacles which a  lot of people cannot for some reason. =-)

I remember when you did your first render with that shattered glass  smiley and of course, all the Sime~Gen renders. Nice job as usual, and love your Damen!
