Amazing renders gal! :)
You know I've told you a million times, so here's a million + one- do a book!
Hey, that does look really good together :) I wanted to do accessories, but I think it was beyond my skill set at the time. Next time, the outfit will have more involved. And yes, I do plan a "next time". Most likely a sci-fi coveralls/work uniform type of thing. It's on the idea board already
I don't think you'd have to change too much. Make a nice short jacket, the pants and uniform are great already and voila. But I won't detain you from coveralls. =-) That is a sci-fi staple I've been wanting for years.
I actually did make a short jacket, but people I asked thought it didn't look good with the suits. I think I still have it saved somewhere
Would love to see a screenshot of that! I think a short jacket and some gloves and a belt would be useful accessories. =-)
I quite like this outfit. It is G-Suit HD for genesis Female with the texture expansion Infiltrator. I think it works quite well on Genesis 2 male.
Those gloves are neat- I really like the glowing orbs in them. Really good attention to detail. (Calling them orbs, don't know what else to call them.) Is the background one of Ron's bokeh or Jepe's SpecialZ?
I re-rendered and uploaded a new image. Like this one better.
The background is just a quick gradient with bokeh and diffuse added. Bokeh are from ron's brushes
The glowing orbs were just a touch of post work by me. I've been working on adding glowing effect in ps and that is about the only thing that could reasonably glow on the outfit. :-)
I'm always looking for interesting ways to make Exo humanoids. There is a certain lack of good skins for alien humanoids which leaves me kitbashing with various other types of fantasy skins. GhostofMacbeth has some nice skins for Orcs, which I find quite useful and 3 nice skintones. Also no eyebrows which can add to the alien qualities.
I also really like Enzio hair. Lots of fun colors and morphs. And of course I findally wanted to use some jewelry, although given his ear shape, this proved challenging so I settled for making them more of a funky piercing than a cuff.
Awesome Creatures also provides some morphs like the gecko hands and elongated fingers. this is a great set to use to enhance your aliens.
Okay, here, I wanted to play with some aliens from the creature creator set. Ran into a bit of trouble wit the skins. Couldn't seem to handle the earless morph, and the tail texture is only for the furry aliens. Wish they'd added the lizard skin texture to the tail, I tried to make my own shader, but still had to touch it up in places. The lion skin, is from RAWArt's cat world re-genesis.
I hope in future creature creator packs there is a shader pack so you can use the textures on whatever anatomic extra you want. Given that many lizards and reptiles also have tails, this seems kinda limiting.
I also got to use V3, in the background. These figures take up less file space, and look really great I think.
Firstbastion's Sci-Fi Circular SkyWalk really renders well. I really like this set a lot. Check it out. =-)
Here is a test render of Adrienne. She is an amazing figure, with some beautiful android mats. I hope for a male counterpart. I am sure I'll render her soon in a full scene, but the full HD on this figure makes my computer cry. =-) Love the motion on this hair
Here I re-did my alien character with Real Short hair. I can't tell which hairstyle I like best. Wish the crown wasn't quite so round. But, that's the way it fits Gen 2 Male forehead. =-)
Okay, wanted to try something with the new DA Circuit One for Gen 2 females. I didn't care for the look over shading on the body so instead I used it in conjunction with a an armored swimsuit. I think it looks pretty neat.
The shine coming off the swinsuit looks almost painted, did you use some kind of "simplify" postwork filter because it has a great "Heavy Metal" magazine cover feel to it. It's a great image with the color tones and composition and expression.
The suit is from Ynes Bot Armor It has a very nice natural metallic shine. It is Gen 4 but looks great in combo with this outfit. Changing the diffuse to aqua allowed it to match the DA circuitry in the suit. I'm rendering it now at a higher resolution. So I'll update that post with the results. The lighting is mostly directional lights pointed at the main character, in addition to other lights.
I've taken to lately making myself some quick background images to use for figures, usually with a light focus already in place. It draws the eye in.
In this case, the only postwork I did was use Topaz Labs Star Star Effects. EDI: oh, and a couple Bokeh with brushes. If you haven't tried this product you should. Results aren't always predictable, but it takes the lightest area, and creates a shine or a bloom effect. It is a very quick way to enhance your render with some accent lights BUT the bad news is the lights don't really always go where you want.
I can do this now postwork, but you can see how it works in these before and after shots:
Here we are, a bit different lighting but larger.
I wanted to try DA Circuit One for Genesis 2 Female(s) on a male character. The geo shell is not a perfect FIT for gen 2 male, something gets messed up in the head region. Well if you have Nalin for Gen 2 female the outfit works just fine. (or really any other converted gen 2 male to female product).
That's a really neat effect- I noticed particularly how smooth the bends are, aka the elbow. It flows right around. As you and I chatted about, Nalin is a very light skinned dude. Have to watch the lighting on him, right?
Here I wanted to try the Lorelai Mertail on a male figure. It looks pretty nice- Sadly the movement morphs cease to function with autofit. Hopefully a male version of this is in the works. Anyway, I do think this is one of the best tails in the store. So hopefully the movement morphs will be fixed in an expansion.
Do you know for sure that they work on the female? Aka, you have used them before?
Nice underwater scene- you always do wonderful with those.
Thanks! The figure's tail works great on gen 2 female with movement morphs. There are some good ones too which move the fins this way and that, and allow the figure to sit down. and they look really well. There is barely any movement when using pose controls on the tail when autofitted to gen 2 male. The tail just doesn't respond. On gen 2 female it works great.
You could get around this by using Nalin or a GenX'ing a male character to gen 2 female which I will try next.
Overall, I like this tail a great deal. It is certainly very realistic and convincing.
Okay, here is one test render using Arcadia Rising. I really love this suit, especially the metal textures. Midnight Stories did an excellent job here. Plus I love all the extra shading options.
Okay, I must be blind but how did I miss Starman? =-)
Starman is a cool alien morph for genesis which comes with http://www.daz3d.com/supersuit-scifi-pack which I got recently on sale.
I like the morph he looks really cool, especially when recolored with one of RawArt's or Hellfish's skins from one of their alien creatures The original skin is somewhat waxy and plastic-y but might look great if you were rendering in a toony style.
The challenge I have with aliens is to what to give them to wear? You don't want to cover them up because then you can't see their differences. But at the same time they can't run around nekkid... And human-style clothing looks sort of comical.
Totally agree- the other skins look much better.
I suppose if some of the sci-fi suits have different material zones, you could always transparent out the top of them in Surfaces so they'd be in sci-fi pants. I see the dilemma of how to dress them. Love the loin cloth, lol!
Here I wanted to illustrate some super heroes since I have a lot of content. I think this turned out pretty well. Had to re-render twice because of uncomfortable looking props going through bodyparts lol!
Really love that camera angle! And yeah, those pieces of rebar/ruinswould be very painful...
Just wanted to try someone levitating something. Will try again, as I'm not entirely happy with this result.
Would the rays of light come from that direction, or from her outstretched hand? I like the effects and the camera angle. Is that City Ruins, Destroyed City, which set?
Yeah, I confess It was a confused mess. I wanted to try one person using the power to throw and the other to block, but it did not turn out too well. Instead I had one person blocking and the other lifting. But well, back to the drawing board!
The set is actually a Stonemason rubble product. Rubble 3 ruins. I put like 6 of them in there to create a ground plane effect. Lets face it, stonemason is the master of that level of detail, and I've grown quite attached to his ground planes.
I wish he'd just make a whole set of detailed grounds. Then I could just use them all the time.
Heads up. Great deal on Midnight Stories fantastic Babylon Warrior in Fastgrab.
Some excellent level of detail in the weaponry, and shaders for this alien/bot. Well worth checking out... And there is also a neat sword.
This was a fun piece to do... I love rescue scenes, and the Mech Gear just really lends itself to this sort of render...
