there was a nice selection of holiday stuff in the old archive. i still use the old patio set, and there was a fountain, 2 seater bar with stools.

...and there was also, The Creeper!

crikey. amazon changed their free shipping minimums to 35$. couldn't they wait for after the holidays?
ordered Who S7 and the snowman special. should come in time for Thanksgiving. i want something to look forward to in case no relatives want to drive me to Tday dinner.

fried enough brain cells with the sony s/w. playing with wings for a bit. no end of fun playing with the cube. :)

in the beginning, there was 'THE CUBE', the all spark. not the same as the tesseract. tee hee

    hmm, Transformers marathon this weekend
iz funny in the 3rd movie when he's job hunting, he's mumbling under his breath,
'saved the world' 'twice', when no one wants to hire him.

Those node thingies look so complex to me. I guess I have a lot of work ahead of me to figure out all that stuff. I've seen similar stuff in screen caps of DS, so it looks like it's unavoidable.

Oooo...lookie all those patch cords! :) Is that a Moog?

We have Amazon Prime so we get free shipping on everything that is Prime. We do most of our shopping through Amazon so it pays for itself.

..ARP 2600. Used to work with one of these way back in my college days. Yeah, totally "Switched On Bach" era tech before the early polysynths showed up. Those were very limited to the presets provided though (which usually just mimicked other instruments) and one had no control over the individual "voices".

With the 2600 one had to lay down multiple tracks just like Carlos did. The other interesting part of this is humidity and temperature differences altered the sounds. I could set up a patch sequence, note it down on a patch diagramme sheet with all the slider/dial settings, then come the next day, apply the same settings and patches and it would sound slightly different than day before. In that sense, the 2600 (analogue tone generation system using oscillators and filters) still had a sense of being a true musical instrument in its own right compared to the sampled digital instruments we have today.

I think I still have my folder of patch diagrammes in a file somewhere.

Oh, an Arp! We had one in the band I had back in the late 70s. But not a patch cord type, it was analog. I forget the exact model, it might have been the Arp String Ensemble, but it was strings and horns. It wasn't bad. The guy also had a Yamaha solo that had a really nice portamento. Later on I picked up a Roland Juno 60. I still have that. It's also analog, but it has a lot of presets and the ability to do a lot of custom settings. No portamento, though. But it does have a pitch bender and an arpeggio mode, which lets you change the speed. And you can save "patches" to a cassette tape. It came with a backup tape, but someone lost it on me, and also wiped out one of the presets. I will not let anyone borrow it again. You just can't trust people to take care with your equipment.

    ...I know the feeling.

The new toy I want is something like 7,500$ just for the keyboard, pedalboard and touch screen setup. then there's the software (another 2,400$ for the base software and various sample packs I need) as well as cost of memory upgrades to the beast (24GB) and OS upgrade.

Whoa nice antique tech. If you know about Arps you probably know what a Gogomobile is - the Aussie version was the Dart  The Aussie version of the Arp is probably the Fairlight :)

If you can use layers in Photoshop you can use nodes in other software, each node is like a layer transforming what is underneath it :)

i already bought the sony s/w. they don't give a walk-through tutt. there's like, 'how do i', but no 'why would you want to' reasons
d/l'ed the trial version at day job, thinking it would have teachy stuff. it does come with a demo file, i like part of it.

lexx music still comes into my head, i liked the music they played when Lexx or the moths were on the move.

...having grown up in the States, never saw the Goggomobil Dart. Below is what we usually called a "GoGoMobile" when I was growing up (BMW Isetta 800 and Heinkel Kabine - built by the same firm that made the Luftwaffle bombers in WWII). They both ended up banned in the US for obvious reasons.

The Dart looks like a sweet little ride. Now I really need to learn modelling so I can make one for Leela and Tracey to drive around the English countryside in. They'd love it

I use layers, but not anything really fancy. The node thingies look more like programming flowchart, but with spaghetti connections!

    ..excellent.

Just applied for a job with the State. Hope this one works out as it almost exactly matches my resume skill set. When it came to the skills questionnaire had the highest level of experience and all multiple selection boxes checked. Hopefully they don't think I'm too overqualified. At this point, I don't care if it seems a step or two "down" from what I previously did (even though it pays more and I get a "Cadillac" benefits package from day one), pulling down a pacheque is preferable to not pulling down a paycheque.

...I hate it when that happens. You make sure to get to the stop in plenty of time, and the silly thing never shows up. That's been a chronic issue here as of late on the route I used to ride every morning. Ended up having to wait for the next run which made a sardine tin seem roomy as it had its regular load plus everyone who got stiffed waiting for the earlier run.
