Like the truck but I think the steering tire needs replacing going to be a rough ride

Yeah, I know, the mesh for that gta download is beautiful, but the tires are often something to be desired, I did use the tire texture that came in the TDX file, but for some reason, on the larger trucks, the tires are lousy.

Okay, yes, the tires on some of the gta cars and trucks are really horrible, I don't know if it just has something to do with the talent of the creator, or if the game application really requires crappy looking tires, however, being of somewhat questionable talent myself, I simply went to the 3D Warehouse and downloaded some nice modern tractor/trailer wheels, of course I deleted the Alcoa Aluminum wheels, and was left with the tire to export from Sketchup as an obj, I feel they look a lot better!

After waking up this afternoon, I decided to go ahead and re-rig the Mack, it sure does look 100% better with the new tires on it, the only problem I ran into this time was the steering wheel didn't export with the mainbody part, don't know where it went, because it was there and included when I exported it out of blender, anyhoo, now I have it rigged with the new tires, and now it sits in my runtime.

The n-gine site is one of my favs. Lots of cool cars and trucks there. You finally got the truck looking good Betsy.

    (Anybody seen John lately?)

They are also one of the very few gta sites that are continually offering new cars as well, I did the same thing to the Mack Wrecker as well, it looks a lot better with the new tires too!

Finally got around to messing with the Model AA Ford, another of those fantastic gta downloads, about as nice as the 1930 Ford Pickup, (probably from the same content creator), I pulled it into Blender and did some slight modifications to it, removed the DAM files, also removed the hood sides, which was a very common practice in the south, as it does get very hot down here, so the idea was to let the heat under the hood escape anyway it can, also made the engine more accessible.

Yeah, that's a problem with the textures that are applied, its a part of the txd files, for some reason, even with the tire tread almost diffused black, it comes out like that.

Are you using G-TXD to extract the txd file or is there something else to use?

I'm using TXD workshop, that way I can extract all of the needed textures, and can export them in several formats, including bitmaps, jpg and png.

I still use shaders for most of the materials, but the TXD files do come in handy when I come across the gauge clusters, and often works well for other things like the treads on the tires, however, the tire treads are often the worst thing, as often those particular files don't work well.

TXD Workshop works great, and it really doesn't take a lot of space on the hard drive, since it isn't really installed as a program, it just simply works.

Just a heads up on the TXD workshop...being as it is a stand alone exe app, your anti virus may remove it when it does any scans. I have Norton and it saw it as a false and quarantined it. I then had to go get it back and tell my Norton to ignor it. These false readings sometimes happen with small .exe files (that's what viruses usually are) , and since it is a stand alone exe, it just reads it wrong. I have not had any more problems with it since I told it to ignor it. It's a super little progy.
