This is what happens when I can't decide what camera I like best.. I'm not sure if I'm done with it yet..
Comes with a story, too:
She was a big one. Strong and fierce, but for all that, of the classic type. Honest, in a way. Predictable. He had known as soon as he entered the Realm. Darkness and fire. Sheer drops to either side of the narrow, crumbling path she left in her wake. Even if he had not been here to hunt her, he would have had no other choice than to follow her.
He saw a ripple of ribs under her deep black coat when she moved, but he wasn't fooled. The creature was powerful. Old. For a long time, she had spread fear in the dreams of mortals. Feeding on their energy. But no more. This Nightmare would end here.
As if on cue, the creature turned around, her circling motion creating a platform out of thin air. He knew it was an illusion. All of this was. The gleam in her red eyes showed that she expected him to be more than a sleeper, straying accidentally into her realm, yet she tried to unbalance him. To test his strength. She reared and a vision washed over his mind, showing him how close he was to the edge, how narrow the path was. How quickly it disappeared behind him. Just one wrong step and he'd fall.
The Wrangler stopped, slightly dazed. The Nightmare snorted. The man squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head to clear it, to separate dream from reality. For as far such a thing worked in a Nightmare’s own Realm. Ignoring the drops to the sides, he sprang forward and threw his lasso at the black beast. She screamed and reared again, forcing the concept of narrow paths and endless drops on his mind. It didn’t work, not after he had shaken off her first attack.
Knowing he’d only leave the Realm if he fell off the edge, he pulled the rope..
Cool, nice story. I didn't know that you write short stories. I like the fire too.
Thanks, starion :) The fire (well, pretty much the whole background/backdrop) is http://www.daz3d.com/fm-night-builder
It's a very shiny toy.
And yes, I've been writing for as long as I can remember. Short stories, long stories.. I specialize in unfinished stories, though. I'm afraid there is at least a bit of an (often not yet fully formed) story behind most of my renders.
Time for a dress-up again. Because I can and because it usually gives me a giggle. I can do with some giggles.
'Paul-dancing' (WIP)
I like Paul. Paul is comfortable with all he is and doesn't care what others might think of his size, his hair colour, his sexual preference and/or him wearing women's clothing from time to time. Paul is Paul. I wish i could be more like him sometimes.
Nice render mori. Now, what did I do with that bucket. ;-)
Thank you.
And a bucket you say? Not to fill with water and toss at poor Paul, I hope?
Preview for the image I'm working on. Considered entering it in the new user contest, because I can always use feedback, but decided I'm too happily playing and will probably rather focus on the whole/full body image and not the portrait.
Still, here is is.
"I was promised a room with sea view, but all I got was this lousy balcony!"
Just something Calion would say after wandering through the halls of an abandoned castle and ending up on a windy balcony. He's cute that way.
Sadly, uploading and resizing didn't do the image any favours.
It's been a whil since I posted here. Or did much rendering, come to think of it. My time has been consumed by the dragons of Flight Rising. It was past time I did a render again, though. It still seems to be all about the dragons.
A tad boring perhaps, but I had fun with it.
I don't think this is boring. I like the lighting and the way the dragon stands out against the background. Looks like he's about to jump out of the picture! :-)
you sure have been busy since I last checked in ...love the dragon!!! Is he the new one?? Trish
@ emsim: Glad you like it and don't think it's boring. I had fun creating it.
@ Trish: Thanks! Yes, it's the Daz 3 dragon. Really a lot of fun to play with.
Yes, I'm still alive!
Ah, Calion, bane of my existence. I'm sure you're getting tired of seeing this elf, but.. he's so much fun.
Especially when he claims a bard it not so different from a rock star...
Pose made from scratch.
(Just a tiny little postwork to get better focus on the face and upper body)
I managed to squeeze a render in between everything else. Well, one that is family friendly enough for the forum. For something more.. fruity.. check my Deviant Art ;)
This is a WIP, but wanted to share and to show I'm still going strong. Busy, but alive.
I'm still around, just a bit busy, so there's not much rendering going on.
I did a gift for a friend. A little postwork was done on the hair and to make the light look more like lamp light in teh evening.
Well, I did another one that is completely out of ToS, but posted on my dA.
Another challenge/request.
I wanted to prove that not all half-orcs are necessarily ugly. Simple portrait. Only postwork is some blurring and darkening/lightening here and there.
Meet Murves, aonther one of my friend's characters.
How to annoy a slightly aging computer, a simple 4 step course.
1: Load and pose 4 G2M figures.
2: Dress them and give them hair.
3: Light the scene.
4: Make the scrap Heap render it and hear its sweet coffee-grinder sounds.
This is the result. I kinda like it, actually.
Yes, all poses were made from scratch. I did a larger version too. I guess there will be some little postwork done at some point.
Working on something new. Calion again.
What can I say? He's so much fun to work with :D
I finally caught my moody ranger (and his cat) again after quite some time. Well, sort of anyway. Sadly, my computer crashes are the very thought of adding the LAMH fur on the Big Cat 2, so she's in her sleek summer coat.
Some slight filtering and minor fixing done in post. Can put up the raw render, too, if anyone's interested.
Some days, i have the need to make a completely pointless, idiotic render, for no other reason than that I can.
Well, and G asked for it. He was worried I'd toss out the Slime beast whe I was doing maintenance for some reason.
I've had this idea, more or less, ever since the beast was released. Finally got to it. Some postwork done to fix seams, poke through and other little boo-boos and to clean up the lighting a bit.
He's rearing/leaning on his tail, so the front end is floating a bit. That was a deliberate choice, not an oops :)
Your Slime Beast is funky fun- yep, we all need to do something whacky once in awhile. Taking ourselves seriously all the time gets boring. I bet once he has his coffee he'll be ready to face the day. :)
I've never been too good at taking myself too seriously. Especially not for long periods at a time. I usually behave when it comes to renders, though.
Glad you like it!
Checked in on Dimi and found him getting into what seems like a load of trouble. Again. But where curiosity may have killed the cat, this silly elf is still standing. He'll probably be fine..
Both the raw render and the postworked final version. Just a bit smaller ;)
I should stop here more often, it's always a treat to discover characters with personalities that jump off the screen. As for Slimey, he looks surprisingly useful to have in the kitchen!
Your Ranger and Cat is lovely, nice atmospheric background too.
Thanks for looking and for your kind comment :)
I like playing around with my poor characters, making their lives harder.
I seem to have created yet another character. They keep coming. Mostly when my mind wanders and comes up with implausible solutions for non-existent problems.
Ah well. This guy doesn't have a name yet (suggestions are welcome, but I am going to be extremely picky about it). He is half drow/half elf. His skin is gray, but the light did odd things to it. In a good way, so I left it.
Both raw render and postworked version (just some simple filtering) included.
I always like the chiseled jaw- strength of character. Nicely done!
Thank you :)
I like my characters to look good and interesting (to me anyway), but not too perfect. Not sure I manage to pull that off, but meh, I liek them anyway :D
He's a very interesting looking fellow. Really like the skin colour and mismatched eyes.
Thank you, anikad!
I could not resist whipping him out for a next picture. One that comes with a bit of a story.

Pretending to be a drow - a follower of Eilistraee, more specifically - on the surface had so far seemed easier than trying to pose as a full drow in the Underdark.
Nes had quickly discovered the truth of males being considered inferior, not suitable to be any more than a slave, a servant or an expendable soldier at best among the dark elves. All drow, male or female, had regarded him as even less. An outsider, tainted with surface elf blood, showing all too clearly in his one green eye and mostly red hair. All, except that younger daughter of that apparently important house. She had seen him as a curiosity that had other uses than cleaning chamber pots. For a while, Nes had tried to hold on to the illusion that it would keep him safe. Or safer. He had chided himself for being careless and stupid when he fled the Underdark.
After weeks of travel, scavenging and occasionally stealing what he needed to survive, the half-drow was confident he had shaken off his pursuers. How much effort would they put into chasing down an escaped.. whatever it was they considered him to be? Outwardly calm, he had entered a dark and gloomy tavern, spending the few coins he had on bad ale. When taking off his hood and gloves did not lead to another reason to escape - he could deal with people regarding him with wary eyes and keeping their distance - Nes had decided it was safe to risk visiting a larger town.
And that's where we find him, on a chilly, overcast day with the constant threat of rain keeping most people safely inside. Time to start blending in.
