Why return the ones for G3F? Maybe because I was planning to use both in a scene? And DAZ is very clearly playing marketing games. Edit: This decision very clearly reduces the value of the G3F version because I will not buy the DRM'd G3M version. So the value of the product has gone down because I will have to wait a year for the G3M version to come out. DAZ knows some of us are not buying DRM'd content (and DAZ Connect only for that matter (4.8 users, people with little bandwitdth)), so this is the price they pay for that. They know they are trying to force something on us. This is one of the ways I let them know that I do not apprecaite these kind of games.
Very much +1 on this.
The thing with the blood sets is almost like DAZ marketing feels they have to try to trick people into getting encrypted items. If they're so proud of their amazing DRM why not just post it clearly on items with an obvious icon like the PC+ instead of a barely noticeable and easily missed small text in the download methods? Why games and tricks instead of clearly stating in descriptions and promos that items are encumbered with DRM?
.... DAZ Studio 9 has been popping up a dialog every time I launch that my configuration has changed (it has not) and I NEVER log in. And there's no way to make it stop. Even if you don't accept Connect as DRM, it's at the very least nag-ware with the constant popup every time you launch.
I searched for your problem - which version of DS4.9 do you have?
*Note:Switching between builds provided via the General Release channel that are older than 4.9.1.30 and builds provided via the Public Build channel (and the Private Build channel for those involved in that endeavor) will cause a "Configuration Changed" message to display.
*Note:A "Configuration Changed" message is expected to display for all users that have logged into Daz Connect upon launching this build; until said user has logged into Daz Connect a minimum of one more time; the system configuration detection algorithm changed to resolve differences as noted above, so everyone is impacted. Note that switching between builds provided by the General Release channel and the Public Build channel (and the Private Build channel for those involved in that endeavor) will cause this message to display; until such time that the builds offered through all channels are using the same algorithm.
Hi, Devilsatdusk15, I saw in another thread that there was some concern as to whether the Additional Blood Layers for G3F was an all-or-nothing proposition; have you had a chance to play with the product? Is it possible to apply a "blood layer" to the face but not the body, or just one limb, for example? It seems as though that would make sense, as making it "everywhere or nowhere" would be pretty limiting.
Hello.
It is an all-or-nothing item.
It's not a complete waste of money. It has it uses. Although, it would be nice if there was a way to add blood to clothing, so that it doesn't look like your model has been fighting in the nude, and put her clothes on after.
Attached are pictures from my library of the models who the UV's cover (both Iray and 3Delight). As you can see, there are no options to add the UV's to a certain area of the body.
I've been trying to do a render of the product for the last three hours (to upload), but my computer is really playing up and I keep getting Brickyard errors (but it doesn't have anything to do with Additional Blood Layers).
Oh boy I have a personal offer for 30% off Kenji 7 HD. ...shame it's locked in Connect, otherwise I would 100% have bought it today.
This is a pretty important milestone for Daz since it's the first "core" product that's been locked away behind the 4.9 Connect wall. Might have to give up on further rounding out my Genesis 3 collection.

I'm curious why more male (my subjective opinion) seems to be going encrypted all of a sudden.

My guess is they have a decent expectation about how much these packages would normally sell, and...since male products sell fewer overall, there is less actual risk if it turns out to have a huge impact on sales numbers. If they were to jump right in and add it to something that ordinarily would have sold a lot and the effect is significant, then they've lost a lot of sales and probably risk even more negative responses. My guess is that this continued toe dipping that we see is an indication that a consensus has not been made, but that the response hasn't been bad enough to stop altogether. Either that, or they really are just easing us in without any real expectation of changing their minds. This would be more effective too, by starting with items that sell in lower numbers, because the outcry will be small and those people will probably have given up by the time it's the norm.

Took advantage of the personal offer and now horrified to find after a hasty purchase it's encrypted. So now contacting sales for a refund. I also stupidly added Drake for Ivan 7 to the same hurried order only to find that's encrypted too, so needs to be returned. I feel I'm gradually looking at the end of my 3d hobby. I also feel the fact that something is encrypted needs to be made more aware in the promo images. I shall be mentioning this to sales.
I Wholeheartedly agree with the above comments that there is this constant retoric that male things don't sell as well as the female stuff, and then when some good male items come along, they're encrypted. Beginning of the end for me!

We've asked again and again for it to be more clearly displayed but it's been ignored every time.
Personally it's inspiring me to devote my time and money towards other software such as Blender and Marvelous Designer - making figures is really hard, and Daz figures are great, but they're really putting me off buying more at this rate so I'll stick with the excellent parts I have and move into making more of the additional content myself.

You don't have to end your hobby. You just slow down your spending for a few months (or a year;) )
well maybe in a year Carrara will support genesis 3 and HD morphs and I will pick it up then
I bought Kenji Pro bundle as cheaper than most and the outfits can be converted to G2M but his HD version which I may have used in the rare DS iray render can wait.

I have looked at blender, but like most new users, wish that the program was more user friendly. I don't seem to get my head around all the keyboard short cuts.
I have also requested in my 'encrypted product returns letter to Sales' that encrypted content be made more aware in the promo images, and I also feel there should be a warning that you have encrypted content in your cart before you make the payment. This is the first time I have ever had to return products and I understand Daz''s return policy is extremely good. I will certainly now be more vigilant!
Yeah, they got me too. Big time. I'd got complacent that just about everything was available as manual download as well as DIM and DAZConnect. So, okay I now have some store credit. That'll teach me to pay more attention.
I'm a little disappointed over the Drako for Ivan7' unavaiability. I'm a lot disappointed on the scooter's unavalablity. Don't much care about the Kenji HD. From the promos, it doesn't seem to do much. Wouldn't have bought it without the alert on the extra discount.
Does anyone remember just how long ago DAZConnect went into effect? I picked up some freebies when it was first introduced, and after a week or so of the uproar there was an announcement that after a year they'd be available unencrypted.
ETA: I went and checked my product library. Evidently it started in Febuary or maybe the end of January. So we're approaching the half-way mark.

Short cuts work for me; I can use my left hand to hit the short cut, while still doing what I need to with my mouse; using the mouse means I stop doing what I was concentrating on(it breaks concentration) find the mouse equivalent, then continue.

It completely halted my purchases for a while, but they are much less, and I now shop other places. Daz will have had about a quarter of what I spent last year (pre DRM) than this year (post DRM).
There's loads of stuff I would have bought, but the re-evaluation I went through changed my purchasing habits; simple things like about four/five more pro packs plus and extra one for male; I'm making do with G2M quite a lot.
And about another 40 characters.
I changed the way I used the wishlist; if it was in my wishlist and it appeared for sale I bought it; now I think about it for a while, then much more often than not, at best leave it in my wish list. About half the time I remove it from my wishlist.
I relies today when buying g2f stuff in my wish list , I'm about a year behind buying things here, so by the time i buy all the g2 stuff that is not encrypted at all . the stuff that is encrypted now will be free from encryption at about 1/2 the price. Poetic justice for me. I'll never support encryption . even if it means my buying days here come to a screeching halt. IMO " Daz Connect" is the most stupidest, intrusive, "Smart Content" management system daz ever created. It make me feel like daz does things like this to keep us customers frustrated. lol
I had just gotten back into DAZ and I had not thought that they had DRM'ed anything. Now I'll have to look through everything I bought in the las month or so and return the encrypted stuff.
Companies only listen when they lose money. If there are a lot of returns of encrypted items *because* they are encrypted then the company may think again. If there are no returns and the sales keep up, then they will keep selling us encrypted crap.
I'm a Maker and live by the Maker Creed. To put it quickly, if you can't modify a product that you have bought, then you don't own it! If I buy a pose set, I expect that I'll be able to use a poser converter.
I can accept DRM only if it is automatically removed at a reasonable time after the DRM was applied. This gives the company time to make their money safely and me the ability to modify the pose files and clothing after the next new figure comes out.

Added! Thank you!
An amusing twist on the the Connect only fun - a product that is DIM and Manual only:

Thread about it here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/102581/well-this-is-odd#latest
(No, not adding another list to the first post)
If it's not a mistake, I'll buy the character.
I've raised a ticket.
Just saw it in another thread. Not a mistake. :-)

This one comes in Connect, DIM, but not Manual. What's with that?
They are just checking to see if people are actually watching;)
I almost put this one in my cart! http://www.daz3d.com/drako-for-ivan-7
http://www.daz3d.com/kenji-7-hd-add-on is also encrypted.
Good catch. Both are now on my wishlist. I'll pick them up in a year or so. Maybe.

Both added to both lists ...
You and me, both. The character looks great. Well, Wishlisted until 27 July 2017....
DAZ may wean me off buying HD versions now that I will finally be skipping one (Kenji 7 HD).
I buy one when on offer (a big offer); my opinion is they cost too much.
