BRYCE RENDER CHALLENGE 20 ~~TREES~~

  • 20th Daz3D Bryce Render challenge

  •

  • Now Sponsored by Daz 3D

  •

  •  Theme for this challenge is ~~"Trees"~~

  • #################################################################

Bryce trees or imported trees, abstract trees, a scene where the main focus is a tree or some trees

Can you think outside the box with this one? or would you rather be traditional.  Your imagination is the only limit.

This thread is the WIP thread, so you can post here to show us how things are coming along before the render is transferred to the actual Contest thread for judging. You don't have to do that.we collect up all the finished ones and make the thread, with each render given a number and title, but no artist name shown, so it's a blind judging thread for the judging panel.

Rules

  •

All renders must be new renders.
  •

You can enter up to 3 renders.
  •

You must abide by the DAZ 3D forum TOS
  •

Imported content is allowed, but the render must be obviously a Bryce render.
  •

Post Work permitted, but please keep it to a minimum.
  •

Rules may be changed for subsequent Challenges, depending on the theme and the person who has selected it.
  •

The winner of the Challenge will get the chance to name the theme for the next contest.
  •

This will then continue with subsequent winners choosing the theme for the next contest, which will enable a new contest to start with the minimum of delay between contests.
  •

Whoever nominates the subject for the Challenge can modify the rules to suit that challenge.

Please don't post your entry renders anywhere else until after the Challenge is judged, as judging is done in a blind judging thread, so the Judges don't know who has done which image.

Challenge ends on 30th April :- Midnight DAZ 3D time

DAZ 3D Sponsorship, in the form of Store credit

Ist Place $30
2nd Place $20
3rd place $15

In addition DAZ 3D Store Credit will be given to the people whose renders are selected as the Honourable mentions,
$10 for each of 3 honorable mentions

We will also be offering a special prize for the render judged the best from a Bryce New User. DAZ 3D will add $10.

Judged by members of the DAZ 3D CV team and guest judges.

By entering this contest, you agree to allow DAZ3D to use any artwork you submit in any promotional materials they may choose.

wow Sandy... you're very fast. I like your Trees  :-)

  • FishtalesFishtales Posts: 6,071

Thank you. It has a volume sphere for the mist and I nearly got some god rays but they are not distinct. It took five hours to render so not that fast :)

  • Yellow PenYellow Pen Posts: 920

no.... I didn't think that your render is fast. YOU are fast Sandy, because you're the first who show us a Pic here   wink

    @ Fish Tales:
A very nice start for this challenge.

Both pictures are successful, but the second image has become a beautiful rendering. Compliment.

And here comes my first picture:
    Last Tree of Lothlorien

Deep in the Mountains in the West, far away from all Mankind, is hidden the last Tree of Lothlorien. Its Roots go down to the Heart of the World and its Leaves breathe pure Magic. Protected by the last Elven and Unicorns, so the Magic this World never leaves.

Not sure how I got it to be like this. Now I don't know which one I should use :) This one reminds me of a Japanese plate design or from another planet :)

I'll let it go as #2 just now and see what comes along thought wise later.

Sandy - you're always the first and with nice entries.

Drachenlords - ah, the Lord of the Rings, how many times have I read it?

    S Ray - great idea.

Here comes my first, minimalist scene: 8 Bryce trees with the roots off, 5 cubes and 4 cylinders.

    @Horo

Thank you. I thought at first it was two tables. The shadow is an optical illusion of a solid object :)

    Thank you, Horo.

@ Sandy: an image almost like a painting.
    @ S Ray: nice idea.
@ Horo: make as simple objects something so realistic - what I call art.

    My second Picture:

    Hanging Tree:

@Fishtales: I prefer the first version.

@S Ray: Very good idea and well made!

    @Horo: What a wonderful render.

@drachenlords: Nice scene. A bit dark (the subject, that is).

Sandy - ah, you missed the shadows at first. And I missed your pun with Libertree, it dawned on me about an hour later, when I had my libertea. The Tree King is very well done.

Drachenlords - thank you. Though Hanging Tree is a bit depressing, it is superbly done; the tree is fantastic.

    Hansmar - thank you.

    vangogh - very well done.

    Helliconia spring

No post production, this is a Bryce puro. Sunless hdri. The grainy effect caused by a combo of render options and depth of field focus on the tree.

This depth of focus is also responsible for the 'popping' bubble effect. The hill is a combination of white overlayed with the glassy bubble material.

Coincidentially, I have approached this in a more abstract way too Rembrandt... These clouds of mine render very quickly. laugh

Rembrandt - very special tree, good idea.

Dave - absolutely cool, the spherical trees are particularly nice.

S Ray - now that's a cool idea, and you could use your camera, too.

For my second entry I used the option to export the tree leaves as metaballs, then re-imported the tree. There are 14 different meshes which I coloured.

You people are making awesome art! Just to pick some samples...

drachenlords that last tree of lothorien is just awesome!

Horo, the bouquet of trees is a brilliant idea.

Rembrand, I love your take on the topic, looks so delicate and fantastic!

Dave, that made me smile and I can imagin that those clouds are renderfriendly.

ok I decided to acutally go public with this one, though I would like to know how to make that landscape stuff in the front look less mucky and more planty, and I'd like to know how I cover a landscape with plants instead of making nice half circles ( well I liked the result so I kept that) and I still wonder what I did to make the fog the way I wanted it...

I guess once I have covered more of those many tutorials out ther I will know more.
