You'll need a Filament Draw Options Node in the scene (you can add it by going to "Create" >> "New Filamant Draw Options Node").
Then you'll need to select the Draw Options Node in the Scene Tab...
...then go to the Parameters Tab and select "Bloom" and turn the Bloom Strength up and adjust those settings to your liking.
You'll also need to make sure there is an emissive surface in the scene as well (though sometimes even just light/white surfaces will show up in blooms).
It was about the same time as, or even a bit after. Auto-save may be Premier exclusive, but some of the other new stuff is Premier-preview - sugesting that it will be for all once released.
The Guy 7 is free right now, which is awesome! https://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models
He looks pretty good with Filatoon. :D
I don't want Daz Studio to become essentially subscription software, by making new features Premier only. So I am glad to hear that at least some features will be released to all (maybe).
Loving checking in to see everyone's work here, Filatoon is just the best! I'm able to play around with making comics in earnest, and the process is so fast. I'm trying to do as little post process as possible, really only little corrections to fix poke through and sometimes to clean up shadows. Also some compositing-- I only use a distant light for shading, and I've found in scenes with two characters at different angles (like the second one I posted) that I really need to render each character seperately and adjust the light for each, then edit them together in photoshop. Still way, way, way more streamlined than other NPR processes I've tried in the past.
So happy this was developed, and thanks to all the PAs who have made awesome Filatoon products too!
That's helpful, but I was looking for how to set up an emissive material so that it shows up in a bloom. I think I understand it but I feel like I may be missing key ingredients in order to get it to work properly. I have all of the things you mentioned above in my scene.
Ride Envy
Select the item in the scene tab that you want to glow and then select it's surface in the surfaces tab. Find where it says "Emission Color" and make that anything other than black. Then increase the "Luminance" until it glows. Also make sure you're using the latest or second to the latest version of Daz Studio, as I think that blooms in Filament are a relatively new thing and older versions won't do it.
Lighting is tricky with Filament, imo, but you're nailing it! Nicely done!
Looking good! I hope you share the link to your comic if/when you're ready to share it! :)
Over the weekend I started to offically use Filatoon for my comic workflow. What used to take me at least an hour now takes me mere minutes. I honestly spend more time fitting the rendered panels on the page than I do actually rendering them, due to Filatoon working faster than a Polaroid! To call it a time saver is an understatement.
Toon Mira 9 textures on a mixture of Lucas 9 and the Anime base figure.
Interesting combo. Thanks for posting it.
Anime G8F!
Just cause I wanted to see if it was hard to do, and it seems the anime figure is lacking in shapes...I made an Anime G8F (which is just the G9 Anime Toon character head on G8F's body). Since I got a TON of G8 and G3 stuff and investment, its always good to recycle, right?
A little tricky since Filament does not like visibility and transparency, but @Mada to the rescue! Conditional Grafts in Daz Studio You can make a conditional graft to hide the geometry of everything but the head of G9F, and then do the same for G8F, but hide her head, and a little Dr. Frankenstein aligning the head and body, and then parenting G9F toon to G8F head, and....BAM, you got Anime G8F.
Then the textures. I basically just changed all skin to Shader basic presets DzDefault/dzMatte and then picked a nice skin tone and added a plain white image to the base color, so the LIE still worked on the head, and hit it with the Filatoon skin shader. Of course the body is G8F and G9F textures dont align, so I lost the belly button, and other "redder" areas on the body...but not hard to paint some blurry red dots on PNG's if needed.
Again, just a test, but now I can play with the character much more, since it is basically Anime G8F! It's a great anime head, well done Daz!
Great use of conditional grafts :) I'm curious what shapes were you looking for? The anime figure can use any of the G9 shapes... you can even dial the anime out completely :)
Playing around with a Star Wars Themed Render
"De wanna wanga", indeed!
Hey, thanks for the tut's, you've always been a great source of assistance over the years, appreciate it!
Oh, @Mada while I have you, can you save the Conditional Graph button back to the figure, so that it is there anytime you load it? I missed that in the video. I save the scene so I have it, but I didn't see how to save/add it to the figure?
About the shapes...I've been out of this scene for a while, so most everything I have is G8 back to V3. So, I dont have anything G9, except for what is free. I was actually looking for the Real World folder which was a staple genesis set for a while, like voluptuous, but didnt find it, and then was missing my Sakura, Aiko 6, Keiko, Star and even A3. Lots of good anime/toon body options from Daz and vendors of the years! I also have a custom toon body I made for Sakura that is my goto. Then there is the freebies from Shinteo and others that have amassed online (almost all anime style). Just too much selection for this Oldtaku to not have all that as an option. ;-)
Glad to hear the tutorials were handy :) and yes that makes sense about the shapes.
You would need to save the figure BUT I have had wonky results saving the toon because its basically a shape dialed on G9 and I never work with figures, only clothing. If you do save it I would recommend that you call it something different and make sure that you change the data folder complete away from Daz3D or its going to save over your Genesis 9. Someone who works with figures might have a better way to save it :)
