It's gotten chilly here and the leaves are turning beautiful colors. I was inspired to do an Autumn fairy. Made with: Toon Generations 2: https://www.daz3d.com/toon-generations-2-essentials-for-genesis-3

Thank you! I'm not sure what watercolor texture you mean, but I use custom Filatoon presets that I've made (that I'll be releasing with my Filatoon product - assuming Daz3D accepts it), and some of those (like some of the background shader presets) can give a bit of a watercolor effect, IMO. :)

That's great that you can control the palette like that on a shader/node level with your presets, in addition the traditional way (environement settings in Iray or draw settings for FilaToon). It's perfect for a fall image!

Just playing... laugh BTW, is there a clone for V4 to G9 for auto fit? I only have Genesis and up.

That looks great! I need to remake that set for G9 now that we can do skimpy outfits again :)

  • 3Diva Autumn fairy came out great with the softness, color palette and watercolor feel!

vrba79 LIE has so many possibilites with FilaToon! I like the scars you've given your character.

scorpio The building and car conversions came out really neat! Nice work.

csaa Thank you very much! You read my mind! I wanted to try my hand at some simple filatoon animation sequences, and thought I might just as well turn this into a simple music video and write a song for it. smiley

I'm getting close to half done with the project since I'm keeping it short and simple. Will post it up once I'm done. The fast render times makes me so excited about animation possibilities!

Wonderland Your fairy's very cute! I really want to try some older generations with FilaToon. So many things to try out!

CES3D Thanks for sharing your script! I'll have to go download that one. smiley

Thank you, Greg! I'm really happy with how the presets have turned out! I'm glad I took my time with the product and didn't rush to release it. I've worked with it for a few weeks making tweaks and changes to improve it - so that when I do release it, it's as helpful as possible to people. :D

@SapphireBlue Thank you! The more I work with Filatoon the more I like it! :D Such a great addition to Daz Studio, IMO! A great NPR look and pretty much instant rendering -so cool!

@Mada That would be great to see some of the adorable older outfits coming back for G9! I can sometimes get the older content onto G9 ok, but it often doesn't end up looking nearly as good as on the figure it's intended for, of course. :) I'd love to see Sojourner, Pixiedust, and Love Potion for G9. I'm a fan of the fairytale and fantasy stuff for sure.

I managed to get the "Just Jokin'" outfit onto G9, but it distorted pretty badly (particularly the upper sleeves, which I ended up deleting). Still, I think the render turned out cute. :D

Assuming you autofitted it, you need to adjust the weights of the sleeve. As it is so puff, it will get weights from the chest bones.

Yeah, I think that's the issue - you're right. As someone who doesn't really make clothing and wearable content, I don't know how to adjust the weights, though I used to remember how to do that - it's just been too many years since I've done it. I'd need to look up a tutorial on how to do that. I'm sure, even if I don't make wearables, it would help with autofiting older content to newer figures. :) Thank you for the info! I'll see if I can find a tutorial on adjusting the weights.

This would be an absolute nightmare for me to try and render in Iray. I'd have to divvy it up into several layers or canvases and then try and glue it all back together in Photoshop.

Another simple experiment with FilaToon, this time using the Yururi character for G8F by Yomoran. She cel-shades really nicely!

If you look at the full-sized image, you'll see that I struggled with the shadows. I used a spotlight for the main shadow casting this time, and it seems like the results are pixellated and chunky regardless of the settings I use. In fact, the quality of spotlight shadows don't seem to to change at all when setting the Shadow Map Size to anything above 2048.

I think you can increase the shadow resolutions in the Filament options node.

Pulled in some hair and accessories from various non-daz sources and love that Filatoon just works

  • Boy, with all that filament/filatoon stuff coming in I really feel left out as a Mac user. And all I know is that I'll probably have to wait until Studio 5 (whenever that thing might surface) to run filament on Mac. Bummer, especially since even the naughty bits from a site I cannot mention are now featuring an addon with filament support.

Yep! Been raiding my old off-site purchases to see how well they work with FilaToon, especially all the old Anime Doll Kit stuff. Gorgeous render btw!

Lol, I've seen that too. Let the FilaToon hentai commence! xD

Don't worry. You know Daz is working hard to get it done, as in "soon". With some luck it will come with the next blue moon.

    vrba79,

Very nice work on the window-framed scene! The spooky one with the ghoul (?) really hit the mark.

Phloki3d, 3Diva, TheNathanParable: Love your renders, as always!

    Cheers!

Have you tried these settings to see if they help: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/706131/solved-with-how-to-workflow-how-do-i-get-a-less-blurry-pixelated-filament-filatoon-render

Thank you for your kind words! I've been a fan of your work for years on the comic book thread over in the art section - have you tried Filatoon? I'd love to see some of your work with it, if you have! :D

Thoughts on working with Filatoon (this is mainly for myself to help me to remember to utilize these things in the future - I find documenting them can help me remember):

    1) Utilizing Asymmetry in face and body morphs can help "sell" a more traditional look. No one draws perfectly symmetrical faces and bodies, purposefully adding imperfections can go a long way.

    2) Older figures can be great in Filatoon because they often utilize hand-painted "tricks" to achieve occlusion and shadows, they often have hand-painted shadows, highlights, and effects right on the texture maps. Those can look pretty cool and help sell a more traditional hand-drawn look.

(I'll try and remember to update the list if I have any other thoughts on working with Filatoon that I want to remember.)

Just playing... laugh BTW, is there a clone for V4 to G9 for auto fit? I only have Genesis and up.

With this script, you can create V4 clone for Genesis 9.
This script uses Victoria 4, Michael 4, and The Kids 4 clones included in Genesis (the first) as templates to create V4, M4, and K4 clones for Genesis 9.

I already have clones for G1 up for G9. That product seems to do the same and I don't want conflicts with what I already have. I also have all the Gen 3 and Gen 4 clones for Genesis 1 but is there a way to make them usable for G9 (or even G8/G3)? Is there a way to duplicate them and put them in a different folder so they show up under G9? This may be the wrong thread for this question though.

While this might be a tangent from the main topic, I'd like to clear up a misunderstanding you might have.
The script I provided is designed to create clones of V4, M4, and K4 characters for Genesis 9.
By running this script once, you'll have clones of V4, M4, and K4 characters within your Genesis 9.
After that, you can directly Auto-Fit V4, M4, and K4 clothing onto your Genesis 9 without needing to use this script again.

Ah, OK, thanks. Just downloaded it. laugh

I was able to auto fit it using G1 as the source clone with some adjustments and adding a couple of leaves you thankfully provided to cover up some "naughty" spots. If you do a remake, I hope you can include more materials, something for the feet, decos for the arms, legs, hair/head and maybe some new wings? laugh
