Very good, I like it, the new position and light is very fittig.
Thank you :) I am still working on that one, just need to decide for my 2nd entry between Lucy's nightmare and stranded (the goblin mafia one needs a lot of work so that's on hold for now)
I'll try a quick iRay render with grimeiniser shortly and put up the results for you isidorn.
@isidorn Here you go
Thanks for the demonstration. That certainly seems to do the job.
I was never too happy with the throne but now that I look at it I may have overdone it with the vapours. I was just so excited when I got that look off a black and white image I didn't want to mess it up with further tweaking. The figures in the back I wanted to keep out of focus and abstract; they are the ghosts haunting this place, the skeleton-lich is the solid reality.
Besides I just used that same model, Harmoney, for my other entry :)
is it better now ?
Hi Limun, that' very neat, tho Dof is at a very good level I think, you can tell the person holdin the mobile without the eyes start watering ;) I guess you intentionally swapped colours of hair an top from the selfi to the original? funny idea. Only one little critique; I would let her original look at the camera (us) instaed of the mobile.
My second entry for this month, "Playtime" It took me lot of efforts and trials to finally comeout with this final render.
Well worth the effort. A great render, well done.
Ha! I didn't notice that at all before, the hair and her top. Yes, it does look better. I'm not sure about the purse, to my eye it seems the brightness and color don't match well with the rest of the image, so it draws the eye away from the main subject.
DOF is well done, I like the sunlight glow on that well thing near the center, it really helps define the tone of the picture.
Thanks my friends, glad you like it, I've learned a lot from you and others on my previous entries.
Oh man, still a bit render crazy this month, so another potential entry... must stop and settle on 2....
She's a feisty girl, nice render.
Here's what I've got so far which is a tossed salad of different renders layered together for testing purposes. The computer I use for hobby stuff is very slow; 1.3g processor and 4g ram so nothing comes easy with my Daz time but it's all in good fun so I've learned patience and limitations in what can be accomplished. The final version will probably take a night n day to get done what with the dof taking up more time than normal.
What I've liked with these newcomer contests is having some new areas of Daz to explore and this month has been a great learning experience in cameras and focal settings, which I've fiddled with before but not to this extent. I can even talk a little shop with my photographer friends now lol
Another month of some fantastic renders in the wip and final render sections and I've got my favorites picked. But as always, for me, the learning is the best part of these contests. Any critiques are welcome. .
That's pretty good. I like it.
The only thing I see to do is let it render longer to get it cleaned up a bit more, and thats about it.
yes, it was an idea , but if you suggesting same ... ok it gona be the same , whic one of the girls you pick up ; old or young :-) ?
Oh, I did miss that one, but now that you mention it, the lady on the mobile is older, I guess that's something that gets lost in the DOF. It's a kind of Dorian Gray thing then ;) , but I am afraid, it's not working with the DOF.
For Picking up.. I'd take the older one, she's my age ;)
hey guys, I saw some guys post 2 different render in entry-thread. Is that ok? I thought each person only have one time to post render for each event.
You can to have 2 tries as far as I know,,,better hurry though,,only about 1 week left to go in this one.
Rule 4, link to the rules on the first page of this thread:
Thanks icecrmn, I still think it needs somethng more to finish it, besides the longer render time that you suggest, but not sure yet what that would be yet. Your two entries came out excellent. I'm impressed with your hdri using finite with ground since I've not had good luck with using that technique. The ground always comes out screwy when I try it. .
Thank you noseeum,,,the quality of the hdri has a lot to do with how it comes out really. Then you just have to keep fidling with the ground scale until you get something close to what you want. Not all of them will work out right though in my experience.
I spend alot of time looking at art other people make in the gallery, and I've noticed something that all the really good ones have. There is something to see no matter where you look,It may just be a light curving over a shoulder, or cracked paint on the top of the piano, an ice cube floating in the sweaty drink glass, but there is something for the eye to take in.Your image has many of those qualites , to my eye anyway.I would just let it render for a long while so the nice details come in.You never know,,you might have the winner right there, it's pretty good.
I'm not sure a longer render time is the answer here, it almost looks like the depth of field starts from the camera lense rather than encompassing an area of the image for focus? It looks more like iRays blur than render grain in the image - On the flip side of that it does give the composition a lovely "soft" feeling (which may well be what you were going for!) and it's a great image :) If my prior suspicion is correct though, the extra render time might not be as effective as you'd like.
this one looks very nice. i'd recomend using it if you haven't decide on your entries yet. (the beach seen that is.)
agreed very nice
Couldn't think of anything to do with my first idea for this month so started a new path this week. need to mess with the DOF more though.
Yes, the DoF does seem a bit off, but it is a striking image all the same. Looks like you are on the right track.
