I absolutely hate that DIM is now the default. I have about 3600 products, and in DazCentral, there is an image shown for each. The lack of thumbnails in DIM is stupid beyond belief if it's replacing DazCentral.
Further, spamming us with ads? Really? I close the stupid ad at the bottom, but it just pops back up.
You already got plenty of my money, stop spamming me with ads!
I've never used DAZ Central, but I agree with you 110% on the ads!!!
Maybe eliminating them could be a DAZ+ perk...
Some of the notifications have been for freebies, soem have beene xclusive offers.
We know that daz was looking at adding a grid view to DIM (with images) - whether that is still open I have no idea, the focus has been on Daz Studio for most of this year.
Yes the grid view iss till on the docket - but yes, the primary focus recently has been DS (as witness the number of new Public Builds).
...just the password. After manually copying it from my password locker and making sure the "remember me" box was checked it worked for a while then tonight (Friday 07/26) [failed] again. I refreshed the browser but it still didn't auto-insert
I've been having issues with some pages in chrome opening in basic HTML mode and others just showing up blank. I had to shut Chrome down anew reopen it to get that to stop. Also earlier today a couple images i linked to in a post on the forums wouldn't show up but after I refreshed the browser, they did. .
BAsed on that, I'm wondering if it may be something to do with Chrome not completely populating data where itneeds to go.
When I was having this trouble with the Install Manager auto loading my password a couple years ago I'd always find the .ini and default.json files on the desktop. That has not happened in either of these more recent cases.
So this is the browser, not DIM? The thread is on DIM so I had assumed that was the issue.
...that is just a guess, not 100% certain. as failure to fill the password field never was the case before with Chrome, that was an issue which often occurred after a new update to the Install Manager was released.
One point though, this could not be due to a recent Chrome update. I have not been receiving updates for it since January of last year as I am still on Win 7. Pro and Google has since ceased supporting the OS with updates. The situation with pages not always loading properly occurred well before that date but didn't appear to affect the IM.
So both DIM and Chrome are occasioanly forgetting your log-in details?
...yes.
That does sound more like a system issue than a DIM-specific issue.
I need Content manager so I can see what I have that was a superior utility I am 61 and need to see the large thumbnaials this I only ever used to batch load if I bought a new computer it is useless to me for everday work I can see this the beginning of the end for many daz users
You mean Daz Central? Adding a grid view is still on the list, and in the meantime you can download thumbnails (at a size set in preferences) from the right-click menu and they will appear in a tool tip whehn you hover the mouse over an item.
...not sure why, I've made no major changes to the OS or setup in years. As I mentioned I receive no new updates for wither the OS (since January of 2020) or Chrome (since January of 2023). I do have a pretty hefty AV (which I have been using or many many years) and if there was an issue with it, a popup with a warning or message would appear.
The IM also works outside of Chrome so on spite of my speculation earlier, it can't be anything there causing this, and I've had he same IS provider for years
Otherwise it both downloads and installs are really quick (even for those big 1 GB flies) compared to the past. Just a bother when i have to go to the password locker to copy and paste it in. every once in a while
I also so checked the logfile for that night and didn't see anything that was out of the ordinary just that the login procedure didn't occur because there was no password, but there was nothing, no error statement about the password missing or not loading like it should have even though the "Remember" box was checked. It apparently read the .ini properly however there was without the password loaded no login was possible After the previous session on the 14th after completing the download/install process it ended with:
2024-07-14 11:56:54.315 [INFO] :: Saving Account Settings: Account
2024-07-14 11:56:54.362 [INFO] :: Logging out...
2024-07-14 11:56:54.581 [INFO] :: Logged out
2024-07-14 11:56:55.236 --------------- Install Manager 1.4.1.69 exited
So supposedly it saved the login information (password) after that session so it should have been there.o nthe 26th s I did not use the IM until then.
Strange.
is DIM being updated changed not starting up tonight did have a windows 10 update and restarted but DIM still wont start up Studio loaded and had some products in the install section to install on a side note lately too even though products are downloaded installed via dim they still show needing to be installed in studio
Last update was a year ago - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/install_manager/change_log_1_4_1_69 . I did have a spell earlier in the week when it wanted to update to the same version, so there may be/have been a server issue of some kind.
magaged to pull up info that is the version I have and it was on 5/11/2023 so a year ago tomorrow tried starting from apps section as well as desktop shortcut but no luck last few days had to install new buys in studio though like said before before this started was finding some new buys still had to be installed in studio even after downloading installing via DIM and some wouldn't install/update in stanard Studio version had to start up the Public Beta version to install and or update
Some of that sounds like a database issue - perhaps DIM was adding entries as it should even before it started refusing to start. It would lost you settings but you might try removing (move or rname) the
%appdata%/daz 3d/Installmanager/useraccounts/
folder and see if DIM will then start normally.
Ok tried moving it from C:\- \AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D to D:\-\AppData 2\Roaming\DAZ 3D and now the folder has completely disappeared into thin air
It should still be there, if you moved - maybe it is hidden. Anyway, does that help - does DIM now start?
think it tries see the hour glass thing edit additional tried the address \AppData 2\Roaming\DAZ 3D and couldn't find it on either drive
so I've downloaded a new verstion of dim and unistalled previous one from unistall apps section funny thing there was also a version of dim listed there from 98? think said removed that too. Installed Dim and says have 1000+ to download and over 500 to install some look like poser and carrara files hopefully few products will now appear in the public version was missing a few things there like a few scripts like Zev0's Genesis 3 and 8 poses on Genesis 9 andDaz Studio 4 Scene Tools Set 3 - Pose Symmetry - which has now appeared and finally added to menu bar
I think feedback goes here?
I changed the install directory of Daz IM. I migrated the downloads to new dir. I'm a newbie. I was confused because it says 22 installed, but there was 100+ downloaded. I just uninstalled and reinstalled everything. After reinstallation, it still says 22 installed, but 100+ items downloaded. This means everything is good, but it packaged stuff together without telling me. It would have been better if the manager had said something like "100 items downloaded, 100 items installed into 22 install packages". Something like that. I want the IM to communicate to us, and tell us exactly where every item is going. I've used tools like Vortex mod manager, which shows you consistent numbers and tells you where everything is merged / packaged, so you're confident you installed everything. Number downloaded should be exactly the same as the number installed, but next to the installed number it should have the package number. "100 DL, 100 install, 20 packages." That would make things much more transparent for new users, like me, I think.
I think it would be a simple matter for Daz to implement this change. Daz does much more complicated things already.
Hey thanks for reading. I hope the right people see this and I hope you all have a really good day, somehow, some way. Let's make beautiful stuff together, against all the odds!
I don't see any ads in DIM now. Are they gone for good?
Notifications? It may be that they simply haven't had an update over the holiday period and none are now current, but I don't know that for sure.
I'm referring to those banners at the top and bottom of DIM. I guess they are "notifying" me that Daz thinks I should go buy something in the store. They are still gone today, so I'll just wait and see if it is just "nobody minding the store" for the holidays or whether they come back. Thanks for your reply.
I have had no issue with downloading the Daz Studio Pro Beta Update 4.23.1.18 on my Windows laptops and my MacMini M4, but when I tried to do it with DIM on my MacBook Pro M1 it keeps failing. Now, the only version I seem to be able to download is from October 2024, which might be 4.23.0.4? And it is failing as well. I am not prepared to download the normal Daz Studio as when I last heard it causes the metal chips to lock up (I may have that wrong, but it didn't play nice so we were warned to avoid it.) I have tried manually downloading but that is not working either and I can't seem to get a manual copy of the file.
I tested downloading and installing another update file and had no issues with it. So it seems the connection between DAZ and DIM is good.
Must I download a new copy of DIM to get Daz Studio? Or can I copy my files from the MacMini to the MacBook Pro?
The servers should offer only the current version - but can you download the Mac version with the Windows DIM, then copy the files across to the mac's Downloads folder for isntallation (which will of course be the latest beta)?
I found that there was a newer version of the Daz Studio Pro Beta available on my MacMini M4 when I opened up DIM to check where the files were to copy. 4.23.1.20. So I made a copy of the current version .18 and when the new one installed okay, .20, I made a file folder of its files also. Sent it by Air Drop to the MBP and I dropped the files into Download and Manifest folders but I am not sure it worked.
I seem to have two older versions of the basic Daz Studio installed now: Daz Studio 64-bit and Daz Studio 64-bit Public Build. When I click on the 'Public Build' it opens up 4.23.0.4. The other one is going to 4.22.0.19.
The packages for both Daz Studio versions waiting on my in DIM on the MBP has a package dates in Oct 2024. They keep refusing to install now.
Should I install all the other pending updates, and then uninstall DIM from that computer and then start the download of DIM, then the two versions of Daz Studio again to fix this?
With MacOS's you have to type in your password to approve a change to a program or a plugin, well I think my problem started with me miss-typing my password. A bandage on a damaged fingernail. But a reboot of the computer, check of the access approvals, and I found DIM had lost access to the disk and all files for changes. That fixed the issue. And even if DIM thinks the packages are from Oct 2024, the Beta now reflects the new 4.23.1.20 version number.
Edit to correct spelling.
