Well, aren't I on a roll. This is Isidora Hair out of the box. Okay, if the Mesh Resolution is Base and there's no other options, how would this hair be improved so those strands don't look so weird?

And what is the difference between the Fit To Mode with "Redirect Transforms" vs "Auto Follow Transforms?"  I didn't see a difference.

    Ascelin (G8F)         MRL Amara Braids (G3F / G8F)         Andromeda Sci-Fi Outfit (G8F)

I changed the materials of the sleeves, the collar, and the shoulder pads, darkened the sleeves and made them a blue.  There was just too much wash out glare with these lights, but I like the lights. (The first two lights are SASE Promo Lights at Rendo. Remind me a bit of Painters Lights which were sold here. There's blues and browns like the Old Masters. I changed the hue, these were much bluer.)

Her mouth poses easily and her materials are varied. She has a lot of options, including the fibermesh eyebrows (not shown here.)

@serenenight   THANKS! Appreciate you thinking of me.  Love it. Hope it works with the shaders. :)

OMGosh I found an old joke sheet from about ten years ago. I started laughing so hard, who thinks up this stuff?  Try not to laugh- or groan.

Did you hear about the short fortune teller who escaped from prison? He was a small medium at large.

The butcher backed into the meat grinder and got a little behind in his work.

    Astra (G8F)        Perrin Hair (G3F / G8F)       Charmer Outfit (G8F)

I was pleasantly suprised with the details on the Charmer Outfit. The promos missed the boat by not showing the nice details up close, and it comes off more as cartoony due to the characters its shown on.

The folds on the dress are quite lovely, nice job!  And "Really?" captures that perfectly.

@Fishtales, she and the dress are gorgeous. Excellent work on the simulation.

Astrid HD (Gia 8)       Julissa Hair (G3F / G8F)       Crop Jacket Outfit (G8F)  and Textures

We mentioned this before, the Julissa Hair loads as the Jezebel Hair in Content Library (so if you like that hair in Content Library and go looking for it to link it, you won't find it LOL)

Astrid has a lot of facial makeups, you'll just need to look at the promo as I'm not exploring all the options. I'm just trying to get a basic feel of the character as some are looking different than the promos.  The Crop Jacket Outfit is of course impractical with the bare midriff, but I liked the jacket and can kitbash it with something else. You have to look at the promo images to see the camo one, and I think that's the best one. I would have featured that one in the main promo :)

TIP: I changed the pale, washed out top to that drabish green using 127 / 120 / 100 in Surfaces. It's a great match to the jacket colors. Her lips are also a custom color, I wanted a duller red.

6 year old Astrid. I took off the makeup and put the lips at the neutral color. Voila, a cutie pie.

Novica, I have the hair, but haven't tried to use it yet. Does it come with a morph to turn it into style you have on the child? That is a great look! And I love both versions. And the eyemakeup is nice for a dark one. It looks like it was feathered in.

I do like the makeups as they are softly done, instead of the harsh, bold looks (which are fine if that's what the character calls for.)  Here's the funny thing- I didn't do anything to the hair for the child. When I selected Astrid and applied Growing Up, the hair did that all on its own.  surprise  Edit- I just tested it again, and yup, the hair sides go kinda POOF!

LOL, I wonder if it would affect other hairs then?

I haven't been checking the backsides of the hair, but this turns into a MESS. It looks great from the side and the front though :)  The back disappears into the skull so you really only have the cap showing. But rather neat otherwise.

Vertigo Ponytail does a similar thing: if you scale the character, the ponytail itself just hangs out in the air.

I added the DGV Canopy Bed and Sandiraytised it then ran the Simulation on the Boho dress again.

@Fishtales, Love it and the image leads me to so many different possible story lines. Wonderful.

@Novica and @Gordig, so the loss of height between the skull and shoulders impacts the hair? Would it still do that with a dForce hair?

Or is it something to do with the skullcap being reshaped?

As far as I can tell, these are just problems with individual hair products not being properly rigged. I haven’t experienced anything similar with dForce hairs, nor even Versa ponytail rather than Vertigo.

Did you shrink the character and the hair together, or apply the hair afterwards? Might make a difference perhaps (can't test it myself tonight since I'm running backups - which I should have done Saturday, but never mind that...)

Shrank character and hair together. The next one I do, I'll try. I've already moved on to Aurora.

I won’t be at a computer for a few more hours, but I believe I’ve done both with the same results.

...which would be consistent, but weirder things have happened

I tried it on a character I was rendering for the first time and put Bonnie Hair on her, rendered, then shrank her down to 10 - 11 child with Growing up. Bonnie Hair retained its shape very nicely. I then tried going down to the next younger size, and still retained hair shape. Only reason I am not attaching renders is the neck tendons in the pose I used looks odd on a child. So if I am going to do what Novica has done, taking an adult to a child, I need to think carefully about the pose. Not so much if it is too 'sexy' (that too though) but rather if it will be wrong for the body's physical parts.

Do you have the Julissa Hair to test? I'm still in the middle of other renders. The way I did it was put the hair on the character, then shrank to age 6 with the Growing Up presets. (And the hair disappeared on the sides and into the skullcap in back.)  I didn't do the person first, then add the hair.

I just tested Vertigo ponytail and Julissa hair. Julissa does go all wacky like Novica described. Vertigo ponytail seems to only act weird when you use the average proportions dial, but stays intact when using the height dial or Growing Up.

Thanks for testing :)  It's interesting the Julissa Hair is affected so much.

@barbult, Test was negative for Covid-19 - left open possibility though. When a nurse did a follow-up call with me, she recommended Musinex and I bought some. That has kept me somewhat functional. Yesterday I was able to get back to editing for the first time since last week. But still get tired and the sneezing fits are driving me nuts. Thank you for asking.

@Novica, I do have that hair, and I can also test it on another character later today. I will look at other hair by that PA to see if they have that issue.

I loaded G8F, dressed, tried out the new texture package I just got, Anise Textures and then  non-dForce clothing appropriate for a child and adult, then I loaded the Julissa Hair and posed G8F. Rendered.

Next, I left G8F in the pose, and used Growing Up, applied the 5 - 6 Child script and she dropped out of screen and when I brought the camera view up, the hair at first was missing from the back of the skull, then as I selected the character and moved her up, the hair (cap?) appeared. Rendered.

I then removed the pose and hair, and loaded Julissa Hair again. The back appeared again, like it had before, no hair. The braid wrapped around.

I am going to look at other hairs by this PA to see if they do the same with a child size character.
