Josh looks good! I couldn't make up my mind about getting him yesterday and went for 2 of Raiya's girls instead, but I'm definitely going to take another look at him now, Novica.

I also very much like the look of RawArt's Harry -- also on sale right now. I don't use M4 and I'm curious how he would look on a Genesis male but I love Rawn's work so I imagine the result would be good.

I'm guessing you are using both Josh and Noah on M4 here? For some reason, I find Noah looks better on M4 than he does on Genesis, which is strange as you'd expect them to be near identical (well, I would). You can see this in the promos too. However, Noah has a good 'scruffy' alternative face texture and with morphs you can tone down his sophisticated look if you want someone a little more 'everyday'.

I used him on Genesis for the base texture of my Rudolph Nureyev (Scott's custom character contest). Here's how he looked by the time I'd finished morphing and post-working him.

Hmmm. Just noticed the third alien in your picture Tarina. Good job hiding him/her. Also good use for that jumpsuit. Only used that set once.... =)

I splurged and bought the hivewire horse. He is a magnificent animal.

Would love to know what you think of the HW Horse, I have been deliberating over getting him the last couple days butI have both the mil horse and Daz Horse 2 and have only tried them out a couple times so am trying to justify another horse purchase, but he looks fantastic....

I'll mess around with Harry Tonight and let you know. He has no accessories yet which is a big thing for me since I tend to want to illustrate riders using them, but I have to say my initial impression is favorable. He has beautiful mats, a better mane. And renders nicely in Daz.

Just went through the forum thread for Harry, looks like some upcoming amazing stuff for him, I may just take the plunge but it would be nice to have the morphs and textures available in a bundle with the main character

Here are some of my favorite M4 and V4 things that are on sale for 80% off. I mostly use Genesis and Genesis 2 now but these skin textures, hair and clothes work really well (except for the skirt on the doctor outfit) on them. Of course you need the M4 and V4 Morphs to use the clothes and textures with G2F and G2M.

    All Elite textures are $4.19
Elite Texture Bundle: Rob and Marie http://www.daz3d.com/daz-victoria-4-sale/elite-texture-bundle-rob-and-marie $6.99

Manhattan Style for Doctor Professional http://www.daz3d.com/manhattan-style-for-doctor-professional $1.39

I can do a render of any of these if anyone would like to see something on Genesis for example. I am surprised this sale has gone on so long. And they keep adding more...

Tarina Kivi, I love your aliens. The skin looks great on them.

That Hardcore for M4 is pretty sweet. The only problem I have with it is the gunbelt is strictly for right-handed fighters. A "southpaw" version would have been a nice addition to the set.

Luci45, I'd love to see the M4 business suit on Genesis or G2M, if you have a render handy. Does it autofit well?

Okay, here are two images of Hivewire Horse 3d. They are rendered with a simple backdrop of clouds by dreamlight and Predatron's lights and grass. I tried to do the white fetlocks in the second picture, but it seems to only color the base figure texture, not the longer hair. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Anyway, the horse "Harry" looks great. Rendertimes are kinda slow at this size, especially with the mane and tail and grass.

Sykla Armor For V4 (Oriestes Graphics)
    Victoria 4.2 Bodysuit (DAZ 3D Outoftouch / the3dwizard)
    Stefania Hair (3Dream / Mairy)

    See also: http://www.daz3d.com/sykla-scout-for-v4-and-m4

The Victoria 4.2 Bodysuit is 86% off right now and well worth it- it forms so many pieces (even a bikini) and many outfits use it. And dummy me, I kept wondering why the outfit wouldn't go on, it's because the bodysuit is required. So do that FIRST. You can hide part of the helmet, choosing between upper and lower. Nice and versatile. The Sylka Armor is sale for $2.99 right now and so is Sylka Scout.
TONS of color choices. Red, blue, purple, green, etc.

The outfit appears to have more depth than the promos, meaning the parts raise up more than I expected. (Edit- look at the sleeve, how the dots raise up against the background.)

And I've mentioned Stefania Hair before- and it's got nice hair presets with just a click. You can get windy strands in front of the face, etc.

EDIT: This outfit requires buying a pair of boots which were not on sale, so I wishlisted them. Just showed her barefoot as the sale is on right now and I haven't checked to see when it goes off, so wanted to post right away.

I saw the Rudolph (Scott-L has such neat ideas for contests!) and thought you did a wonderful job in both the likeness and the lighting. I knew who it was when I saw it (but couldn't remember the last name, lol.)

Yes, both of those (Noah and Josh) were M4.

Okay, here are two images of Hivewire Horse 3d.

I'm not a fan of that horse (as you know) and HATE the name Harry. I think it is an absolutely horrid name for a magnificent animal. (Speaking of horses in general.)

I do like the motion and spirit conveyed in your renders, and as always, you do a really good job with the lighting. It sounds like the animals they are evolving from the horse will be fun for you to putz around with. I still adore the DAZ llamas. :)

    Nice job!
I think the only thing I would like is a bit longer length. Not sure if that's even the style, it's just something I'd like personally. You're so talented to know how to fix things like you did- I wouldn't have a clue!

    Fabia For V4 (Aako)

I'm working on Kassandra Dress and for the life of me can't get the straps down, but since it's on sale, I'm going to show it to you anyway. (I know under the arm needs fixing too, this is a WIP.)

I've gone into the right collar in Scene, etc. and no luck so far. Wanted you to see the textures, I really like this. (And the fact it's only $4.99 right now instead of $24.95.) The character is one of my favorites, Fabia.

    http://www.daz3d.com/kassandra-elements is $1.99 right now. (reg. $9.95)

Click to enlarge, click again, to see the fabric. It's pretty!

I bet they made it short so it didn't interfere with the leg movement. Just like 99% of female skirts are indecently short in DAZ land.

    I bet you're right.

I did figure out that one of the problems was I put the dress on when she was posed. Starting from T pose, it's better. But I had to make her SO wafer thin for it to somewhat work, so not happy with it at the moment. Gotta go back to doing Silo for awhile, so giving up for now.

When I was looking through my renders for examples of Naoki to show, I realized that I've only ever used her in mixtures, or else as a background character. So here are two new portrait-style renders of Naoki. This is straight "out of the box;" I didn't manually change any surface settings. The top one is Genesis and the lower one is V4.

Note that if you use the Genesis version and Smart Content, the mats use the DS Default Shader. The character comes with HSS mats too, but for some reason they only show in Smart Content if you're using V4. I went into my Content Library>Poser Formats>Pose>Naoki and found them there.

Lighting is one Advanced Ambient Light and three Advanced Spotlights.

Thank you! Top render is Pure Hair: Catwalk, bottom one is Summer Dream Hair: http://www.daz3d.com/summer-character-and-hair

Both are subdivided (tjohn posted about this a little while back, but here's my method as follows for those unfamiliar with this):
Go to scene tab, click on Active Pane Options menu (the button that has four lines and a little triangle).
    Edit>Geometry>Convert to SubD
Then go to Parameters pane and change SubD level to 2.
(I hope I got that right...going off of memory since I don't have DS on the computer I'm using right now)

Try this whenever the hair (or other figure or prop) you are using is rendering a little jagged. It can make a big difference!

80% select products by Raiya and RawArt:
    http://www.daz3d.com/pa-v4-and-m4-sale

Anybody have a particular favorite from among these products? Personally I have gotten a lot of use out of Naoki; she's a great character. I found a couple of renders I did when I was experimenting with using her skin and head morph (mixed with other morphs) on a male character...works pretty well, actually!

I really like http://www.daz3d.com/pa-v4-and-m4-sale/anwyn-for-v4-genesis Because the included textures are brow-less I've often used the silver preset for alien skin. There is also a white eye preset included which goes well with it. The silver texture takes diffuse well so it's possible to get different skin colours. I'm attaching an old render of three genesis figures which besides Anwyn use Zev0's Growing Up for Genesis and Shape Shift for Genesis and DarioFish's HFS Shapes for Genesis.
Thanks for this recommendation and for showing this great render! I just picked up Anwyn who had been sitting on my wish list since she first came out...every time she went on sale I was either broke or had other priorities, but at the current price I couldn't say no.

    @Scott-Livingstone: Nice portraits!
I have a question about SubD. I've read somewhere that it's enough to SubD the mesh and change the resolution to high and the SubD level 2 will be chosen automatically when rendering (or the level at which the morph was sculpted in case of HD). The only difference is that if you choose level 2 before rendering it will affect what you see in viewport (it will show you how the mesh will look like when at level 2 SubD). Basically if you choose level 2 of SubD it won't make a difference in the final render but will slow your viewport. You only have to change SubD level to the one you wish to have in the final render if you are using an unbiased render engine such as LuxRender or Octane. That's what I've been doing, leaving my SubD level at 1. Does it work like that or have I misunderstood something?

I think you're actually right. I got into the habit of choosing level 2 before I knew that, and never stopped despite having learned more about it. I don't know if I'm being superstitious or whether I'm just a creature of habit, or whether on some level I'm doing this because I want it to look nice and smooth in the preview window.

Scott, I like the Naoki renders. I bought it a few months ago thinking it was a great deal at the time. LOL. I think it is one of Raiya's best. The texture looks great on DogZ's East Asia for Genesis 2 Female(s).

I started reading the thread and looks like Harry the horse will have lots of incarnations. I saw deer, pony, Clydesdale, unicorn, etc and toon stuff.

    It looks exciting.

I suspect that HW will release a full line of products.

I'm eagerly waiting. DAZ dropped the ball on the horse stuff in my opinion.

I picked up Lizardian yesterday. Not so much that I wanted to make Lizardians but to port the skins onto G2 aliens. There is a distinct lack of alien skins.

I have to say, the Lizardian skins are great, and a steal right now. I particularly like the white one in the expansion.

@Barbult: Like your male teacher. That's an nice render!
