I've been buying a lot of wishlist things since they were 80%, but Rendo also pulled me over with their 50% Thursdays. I got a modern home that is very cool (has a gym room, glass walls, etc) and also the bungalow home that I think is the same one sold here. I'll see about doing a render this weekend or next week, will use DAZ figures I haven't showcased yet. (Or try to, it's hard to remember what we've done and I've got to be learning new things rather than updating the list.)
We can't link to products there, but I got Modern Home 1 and Contemporary Home. Picked up Dolly as she makes a good young teen.
I have never heard of 50% Thursdays on Renderosity before. Thanks for posting.
It was a special for May, like the unique ones they do here. Are you on the mailing list? Right now they have two other promos running (but nothing spectacular. ) They have a lot of "members only" promos, and that's not the same as their prime club. If I recall, a member just means you've signed up with their website.
You are in luck though, they brought back all 199 products for their Throwback Thursday!
Silo Art Studio Thread
Making your own objects and props and using them in DAZ Studio sound like fun?
If I were to set up an Art Studio thread for VERY beginning users (starting from THE very first step of using Silo) would anyone benefit from it? I am using a book that is very logical, and I am organizing things the easiest way to learn. Pretty much, it follows the flow of the book but these will be my notes. I will keep it VERY simplistic- training and teaching were my professions- but this will be from the START and I will not be able to jump ahead as I don't know anything other than what I am posting :) And believe me, that's not MUCH.
I can post SOME screenshots, but am going to assume for the most part that you have SILO so my verbal will suffice. Not re-creating the wheel as the book I will reference will already have all those screenshots.
I am thinking, however, that if I reserve several posts to put an Index to link posts, I can putz and do my teaching posts, while the pros can jump in and answer complicated questions from advanced users. Us newbies can putz and most of you, believe me, will be jumping ahead faster than I go, and joining the advanced users in no time. I'm a turtle because I want to get it down pat before I crawl ahead.
The other benefit is those of you who don't have Silo can see how easy or hard it is, what it can do, and the experiences of newbies using it. There are a lot of good videos out there, the thread will have reference links to those, what I am doing is printed guides having you master A, which relates to B, so now we'll go to C, etc. I'll set it up if anyone is interested. I am doing Silo every night for about half an hour to an hour, not rushing it and repeating things over and over to really learn it.
Many of the vendors here use Silo- it's that good for modeling.
No, I don't think I am on their mailing list. I should check my account's settings. Bye.
Silo thread is up and running. I am doing screenshots and will be doing this for the next few hours. If you subscribe to the thread, be sure and physically check back because updates to the posts will not generate emails. I reserved the posts so there are clumps of instructional posts all together. This will save some of you a lot of time :)

Was surfing through the Art Studio and this render needs some attention- beautifully done. Be sure and back up a few posts and look at those renders too. Storypilot has gorgeous work in that thread. The one I've linked to has two of my favorite hair products.

Thank you Novica so much :)
My pleasure. :)
Brijitte (Adiene / Silver)
Chrystalline Hair (DAZ3D / Propschick)
ToXic Chrystalline (Silver)

http://www.daz3d.com/toxic-chrystalline
Brijitte :On sale $3.39 which is ridiculously low. Showing the skin materials, I can't find the head morph. I went to the ReadMe
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/16398/start
and it's not in the location (Poser Library, Pose) as I have no ADSI anything. But when I go to Products in Content Library, I can access the materials. So here they are.
Chrystalline Hair: On Sale $2.65 and ToXic also on sale. One thing to note about Chrystalline Hair- it has nice material zones. Note her green eyes? The hair has green tint in places so I made the eyes match. Then I did a mauve/rose with the material zones to match her makeup. I like the way the hair color (silver white) matches the dots and print on her skin.
Default hair, no tweaks other than color. One thing: HAIR DID NOT PARENT. Well, it did, but when I posed her using pose products, or did it manually (so we can't blame the pose sets) the hair did not stay with the figure. I tried it to Victoria 4, and also tried it parented to the head. May be my studio acting up- if you have the hair, would you try it?
EDIT: I noted when I did it- the eyes are Bianca eyes.

Might also want to look at the bundle if you want the hair, includes a character and dress: http://www.daz3d.com/chrystalline-nieves-bundle
You probably already have this Novica, but Faylinn has some great mats and lights, and probably would make an excellent sci-fi character with the jeweled makeups.
http://www.daz3d.com/faylinn-for-v4-2
Yep, I have her :)
Wow, this 80% off sale is really allowing folks to clear out their wishlists :) Particularly if they know how to convert from one generation to the next. I still haven't done that yet.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/42019/
I won't double post- I put the info in The Commons because this outfit was so nice, and it's still eligible for a punch today. Some folks wouldn't see it if it were here. Slosh did a really good job on this family friendly outfit- the necklace follows the contours of the collar bone, the bracelets are mixed up together in a really interesting fashion, the earrings match the bracelets, the sandals pose easily with the feet- he thought of everything! And note the realistic wrinkles. I rarely jump at things that are 30%, but this one, I had to get right away! It looks good on all age groups, be sure and look at the promos. Way to go Slosh!
Yep, I don't bother with the bodies any longer, unless it is something really neat. But I do convert the heads.
It looks nice, and suitable for all ages. I picked it up this morning with all tied up by Sickleyield. Looks like I've blown more than a quarter of my budget on this sale. Which is okay. I know the second half of the month will be all Aiko 6. =-)
This outfit would also look great as an all-round adventurer outfit, recolored, or summer wear on your colony. =-)
Yeah, I'm probably sitting out Aiko- I got Giselle and of course, not used her because I am concentrating more on other aspects (morphing and Silo.) So not going to get another figure I don't have to have, at least right now. That's the plan. If I see her and really like her...well, I'll flip flop.
I also got the tied up- that would come in handy for so many scenes! The bad guys have to have something to do, lol!
Casual Romper For Genesis 2 Female(s) (Slosh)
http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/casual-romper-for-genesis-2-female-s
I've posted several renders of Slosh's wonderful outfit, the original outfit plus using The Fabricator and Totally Bazaar. This is my favorite using the last two. The outfit has wonderful material zones- the pockets, short cuffs, front and back of shirt are different zones, the string of beads loops are all different zones- quite clever! Today is the last day to also get a "punch" for this, as it was released yesterday.
Visit the other thread to see the other renders :) Click to enlarge on all (including the one below) to see the textures.

@Novica: That outfit looks really good. Nice choice of fabricator patterns too.
Looking good, Novica! Totally Bazaar is no end of fun.
Just wanted to let you all know about the G2F characters currently in Fast Grab for 80% off, if you haven't seen them yet: Aoiri for V6 and Emmawynn for Teen Josie.
Edit: I was interrupted... I also came to say take a look at this guy http://www.daz3d.com/gabriel-hair Not only an AprilYSH hair but you get the character too! He looks great for those younger males who can be tricky to find good textures for.
Thanks for mentioning Fast Grab, often I forget to check it! Can't believe the names of products though!

Thought I'd render Julianna as right now she is 80% off. A lot of nice nail options, eye colors, and makeup. I did find in the test render that her skin was too oily looking to suit my tastes, the specular was 100% and I turned it to 57%. The ambient, a nice peach, was on 0 and putting it to 8% gave it a bit of a boost.
I decreased the bust and did a tad of cleavage. The outfit, Casual Surf Wear, has been discussed before- it goes on very well. The outfit comes with shorts and flip flops.
"Note: Fibermesh hair can require a lot of memory during render." Yep! But I am going to get some sleep (it's going on 6am) and let this render for 8 hours, so no big deal. I'll post it at that time. This render is on .20 shading rate and really good quality/excellent settings. It is rendering right now and is at 9% at 7 minutes. But this render is a closeup of the hair and what has rendered so far is ALL HAIR. I have a lot of lights and raytraced shadows, also using UE2. I do agree- I wouldn't use it for a "Quickie" and it is slowing down. This is also out of the box and no smoothing, and I can see where slight smoothing would round the bends a bit.
So what exactly IS fibermesh hair? The regular hair is made up of polygon mesh, right?
RENDER IS 1000 x 1300 and hair is extremely closeup.
Now 8% at 9 minutes- going through the middle of the top and a lot of hair there.
Now 11 minutes and still 8%.
9% at 11 and a half.
11% at 15 minutes.
12% at 16 minutes.
12% at 22 minutes-stuck in the middle of the hair.
13% at 24 minutes.
15% at 33 minutes
16% at 41 minutes
19% at 48 minutes
22% at 54 minutes
Be sure to click then click again, big render, lots of details!
Regular hair is made of polygon meshes with transparency maps to create the illusion of making it more wispy.
Fibermesh hair is made in ZBrush by creating thin lines of polygons that are the single hairs.
Neftis usually combines a scullcap made of a polygon mesh with transmaps with the rest of the hair created as fibermesh hair.
Thanks Kerya. :)
I noticed the skull cap, and the fact the hair is hard to decipher in the viewport. You really can't tell what a lot of it is doing because it is transparent. I did a small test render because I wasn't even sure if the hair was on the head!
Nice find! I love it when products have these hidden extras.
I think if I were a vendor I'd be sure they weren't hidden- I'd have something in the title to relay that it's there. Like "So-and so And Pond." Remember the swimsuit and POOL? Why not just say that in the title and increase sales? (hint for all the vendors surfing the thread, lol!)
Thread subscribers- I'm doing another render of Julianna (without that four hour hair) but be sure and check that post as the Pink Moon Hair image is now posted. Lots of detail there!
I never heard of the psych bundle before. Thanks for posting

Just adding "- PLUS!" to the name would make customers look twice. :)
Predatron has been added to spring clean sale. I'm going to pick up M4 Toughness Bundle II - which has five outfits for M4: http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/m4-toughness-bundle-ii and GINA Agent: http://www.daz3d.com/g-i-n-a-agent. For $5 you get a head morph, a texture for M4 business suit, 3 briefcases and 19 props.
I haven't shopped that one yet, GREAT find on the briefcase goodies :)
tjohn- cute avatar! Posting Julianna with Hawthorn Hair in a minute.
EDIT: Yep, that bundle comes to 12.97 when purchased separately. I had already gotten the first two items and have the rest of them, but that is a really nice bundle- thanks for pointing it out!
Here's Julianna with Hawthorn Hair. BTW, did you notice the irregular eyebrows? Like the realism. The one on OUR right has some hairs displaced, like when someone rubs their face. No one is perfect :)
Click to enlarge, click again- you can really see the details of the brows and skin. Nice materials! BTW, same shirt as before, with Fabricator. Playtime! Remember FW Julianna is on sale right now- bigtime.
