    ...ahh what would Monday in Portland be without more MAX Light Rail Service Alerts?


    This one looks scary as one of the wheel sets came off the track as a train was leaving one of the eastide stations. The incident is 'Under Investigation" so once again, three of the four lines are shut down and shuttle buses have to be brought in to ferry passengers past the site.

    i just noticed that the red line runs between downtown Portland and the big international airport. I must be getting old because I haven't noticed the red line before. loll

    I saw the notice that shuttle buses are running between Northeast 7th and the Gateway Transit Center.

    I just want to make sure I understand the whole DPI vs Pixels thing for printing.

    I have a series of renders that I need to be 2.5 x 3.5 inches when printed at 300 DPI. So am I right in thinking that the absolute minimum render size would be 750 x 1050? (300 * 2.5) x (300 * 3.5). Or, since DS renders for digital output does it default to 72 DPI and I need to adjust my render size up to account for that?

    Would I be better off rendering at a higher resolution, say 2x or 3x that base number, before taking it into PS for printing?

    So I bought that game, installed just the 6th one in the series (Was a pack of seven games) and started playing it. Took a moment to get used to the controls and stuff, was several times when I forgot what classes my characters were too (hah.) Yeah, I wasn't paying attention when I was at the character creation screen. I just wanted to get started as quickly as possible - save the creativity for my next play through.

    Well eventually I tried taking a coupla screenshots. After exiting the game to go to bed, I noticed they all came up black on ScreenHunter. Drat! Just like when in Civilization IV, Screenhunter is useless. So I check the game's directory and no screenshot folder. Sad face.

    I *did* however discover something interesting...

    http://www.daz3d.com/mantiraptor was in the game files. It was, it was! Just shaded purple with a cream underbelly. Had the arm scythes and everything.
    I also saw http://www.daz3d.com/hatchling-dragon (Sans the neck frills), the old Beholder model (Yeah I know that these are like super-common, but it had the same texture, size, number of tentecle things, and mouth shape), and finally the bronze Millennium Dragon!

    I have to say seeing these was pretty cool. Though one of my friends was a bit disappointed when I told him, since two of them weren't even recolored at all, one was simply a Hue/Sat change, and the hatchling dragon only had the frills removed.

    But hey :)

    ....Also I still don't know how to take screenshots. I guess I could fire up FRAPS or something *shrugs*

    You were right the first time, disregard the default 75dpi and do your own sums. Always best to render at a greater rez than the final product requires, you get maximum flexibility for post processing that way. Best to do a test print on the equipment you intend to use cos every printer has its own foibles when it comes to margins etc :)

    Glad you liked it. I threw all the aging stuff for Genesis that I had at it.

    Looks like the site is screwing up again. >:( I don't see it, either. The newest things in New Releases is the stringed instrument things from yesterday. I had to clear my cache for those to show up last night! I'm not clearing my cache every time this site has a glitch. They need to fix that once and for always. Somehow I doubt that will happen, though. :down:

    Oh, thanks! Since they're free I'll get them. Don't know how much use I'll get out of them, though. I've only used Genesis once so far. Then they came out with G2. I'm not going to buy the same things over and over...they said we wouldn't have to when Genesis came out, but soon after, and ever since, I've seen the same things come out for them that we already bought for the Gen4 people...over and over.
