It's a full moooooooooooooooon... and that means the forest is full of beasts AFTER DARK!

Did a render similar to this back in 2012 when I first started working with Daz and only and a tiny runtime... lol.  I've always wanted to redo it now that I have more 'stuff' and know a little better what I'm doing... lol.

Here's the old render if ya wanna see... I think I've improved... a little :)  https://www.deviantart.com/llolalane/art/Howling-at-the-Moooon-331105834

So much happens after dark.. Anmals and creatures of various flavours come out and if I'm not mistaken, love is in the air.

And besides all that, after dark, the party starts ;)

    Full Moon - no sleep!

It's hard to see the details in dark images when they are surrounded by bright white, (which is how I see the forums.) I looked at this via the gallery page, full-size, with the dark background. A lot more detail shows up and I recommend looking at this image that way.

xmasrose, I think you did a wonderful job. I love the shadow of the cat falling on his legs, and the contrast between the dark room and bedding against the bright light of the moon. Full size, I could even see the blur of the background. Did you add the background in post, or use the DOF camera? Regardless, it's like I'm peeking into the old man's bedroom.

    Well done.

bigh  I am sorry. Did you try looking at the bigger size?

L'Adair  Thank you so much. If you felt it's like I'm peeking into the old man's bedroom then I succeeded.

I used the DOF camera because I wanted the focus on the gentleman not too much on the bedroom (a very private place) and wanted to show how he felt not being able to sleep. For the lighting I used only one of the HDRIs from Terra Luna and even darkened the background a tiny bit in post as the all image was still very bright to me. I render CPU only on my desktop so I usually avoid anything too dark but this image rendered quite fast. I still have a lot to learn and really liked your tutorial on your thread, thank you.

I loved following all of those images, its great to see so many atmospheric renders!

I managed an almost last minute one (especially since this rendered for hours)

    Paris 04:07 am

A tribute to the film "Night on Earth" by Jim Jarmusch, obviously this is the Paris episode

    What a great render Linwelly!!!

@Linwelly, I'm not familiar with the film, but your render is really cool. It leaves me a bit uncomfortable and worried for the foreground character. Good job.

This is great... and really sums up the last few nights of mine... no sleep... lol.  Kitten season has arrived in Ohio and we are fostering 4 from our local Animal Shelter!  With our 2 that makes 6 cats in the house!!!  WHAT... was I thinking when I said yes to fostering?  lol

Thanks for the artwork... looks fine to me.  I expect the darkness depends on how dark we have our monitors too ;)

Not seen the movie but love the artwork... You have more patience than I do to let it render 'for hours'... LOL.

    Thanks for sharing Linwelly!

Last day of the month and May's theme is a mystery.  My friend lives in England so he will send me the theme once I wake up... lol.  I'll post it asap... This has been great... Keep up the renders everyone... !!!

No worries, all that get bruised a bit is his ego. Lady in the back is blind, that's why she's making strange faces.

Not a lot of patience but detailed planning to start a render when I have to be somewhere else for a while anyway.

    Now waiting for mystery :D

(wakes up and yawnzzzzzzzzz)... My friend took longer to get me the theme... but... Ok gang... May is here and the theme has been chosen...
May's theme is LIVING LANDSCAPES. It can literally be taken anywhere as long as it is a landscape! Rural, urban, coast, country, hills etc. However, for it to be a living landscape it must contain human or animal activity in it.  The person who thought up the topic said " Open to interpretation as usual, but I was thinking of landscape shots with animate objects in them, such as cattle/sheep/deer grazing, salmon leaping up a stream, farm machinery ploughing or harvesting, animal tracks in snow, etc. A photo that conveys animate life and movement, rather than the more usual 'static' landscape scene of hills, sky, rocks and heather or whatever. "
If you need inspiration search for John Constable
Oh.. and another note... since we can BE anywhere in our art... the living landscape doesn't have to be here on earth... winks... hint .. hint... LOL
    ENJOY!!!
