Bumping an old thread, but I wanted to echo the "ah, man..." thing about Royal Guard. I bought this set specifically in the hopes of converting it to G8. Le'sigh.

I would love it to work for Royal Guard as well. Sickleyield was unable to get it to work so I couldn't automate it for Royal Guard. Sorry
Just finished the purchase of ALL of your clothing converters from M4/V4 up to G3. All of them are working perfectly except for this one. I keep getting an error message in the Log File, "Failed to load script".
I uninstalled it, reinstalled it (both in Smart Content and DAZ Install Manager), deleted it from my computer, restarted my computer to start the process all over again. And it's the same result. Below is a picture of what I see on my end (if that helps at all...) Anyone have any suggestions?

You're welcome. Those images look like orphaned references in the DS database. In the database, it still has paths to the scripts, but the scripts have been removed. I definitely prefer DIM for installation. If nothing else, you can find where in Content Library DS put it.

That's what's the frustrating part. It's installed into my computer. For some reason, DS won't load the file. The Error Log says, "Failed to load script: C:/Users/Wind/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Daz Connect Library/data/cloud/1_56469/scripts/riversoft art/clothing converter/rssy clothing converter g2m to g8m.dse" Yet, the file is in that exact location. I could do a manual download, but I prefer to have everything as possible in SC rather than CL. Guess I'll open a ticket.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I have need of some way to convert one G2M item and preserve the extra bones, but before i commit to this purchase I have two questions.
Can this be installed manually or is it DIM only?
Has anyone converted the coat from Eldritch Seeker with success?

Well there is still stretching in the back of the trench coat and I did have to make the shirt sleeves invisible to stop poke through but it's not bad oh and I used G8's shoes ....
Thanks, that works well enough for me. I just need to retain the bones for the belt ends, and then I'll dforce the coat tails if i have to. Thanks again, i really appreciate it!
I just double checked the belt it does not keep it's bones
That's ok. I just bought it and did the conversion with the provided "coat" template and that works fine. It keeps the belt from clipping through the bottom of the coat and there's no tearing in the back. And it creates enough extra bones in the bottom, that I might not have to dforce it.

I am glad it worked for you @zombietaggerung! Thank you @carrie58 for helping out! It was especially appreciated this time as I could not get back to the forums.
(I apologize to anyone for not responding faster. I had issues accessing the forums since Friday Jan 7th. Thank you for your patience; everything seems resolved as Jan 14th. A special thank you to @Marshian and @Sickleyield for stepping in and helping me.)
However after the process was completed I noticed that the original bones were not maintained. The sash and skirt items are not adjustable in the same way when compared to the original items while using the original bones. The end results of this conversion is nothing like past conversions I did for G3 to G8, did I do something wrong, or are these known issues? Also sad about Royal guard, that was next on my conversion list.

I will ask Sickleyield to confirm, but the rigging, or skeleton, and shape of Genesis 2 figures and clothing items is very different from Genesis 8. The script needs to account for missing or extra bones between generations. The process does not preserve the old rig. Most of the conformers, except the default bodysuit, add a special rig to help you adjust the items. I would reconvert but make sure you change the conformer to one that will help you with that garment.

That is sad to hear, rig preservation was one of the main things I wanted when getting this tool. The items when converted get too many of their various flaps fused together after conversion. Will review the conformers again, but most so far had unpleasant results.

Here is what Sickleyield said: "I've converted both these sets with our product before, the customer just needs to make sure they use one of the rigs with handles (and may need to choose it manually because of the way the tunic/loincloth pieces on Luthbel sets are named, if memory serves). Bones cannot be retained from generations before Genesis 3 because of the switch from TriAx to Dual Quaternion rigging."

Thanks for all your assistance, guess i'll see if I can get a partially pleasing result from testing out the options.

Good Luck! You should post a pic with your result (whether good or bad)
So Wildenlander skirt is still not quite what I would like, but i guess the main beauty of that piece is the custom bones so if those are lost, it really doesn't make sense. I guess I also got Royal Guard awhile back and hoped your product would be able to convert it, but its a fail. What surprises me even more is the fact that Daz's built in system is able to convert way more items in that piece in a useful fashion, I thought your system leveraged aspects of theirs, is it time for an update to your product. Something must just be really off with this outfit because your tool has converted other similar pieces without issue, so why does it have issues with Royal Guard?

I remember being disappointed that Royal Guard was a problem too. Our system is different than the built-in one.

Ok, well I guess Royal Guard is what it is. Did Wildenlander skirt behave the same for you after conversion (based on my image) or was it different, if it's different what conformer did you use?

I honestly cannot remember. Probably the Skirt or the Coat conformer.
I am trying to convert the clothing found in Genesis 2 Starter Essentials package. When I click on 'Execute' I keep getting the following message:
'data/SickleYield2018/RSSYG2ToG8Converter/Conformers/G2M to G8M/InstallManagerFileManager..duf'
(Yes, there are two dots preceding duf).
Where can I find this file? It is not under SicklyYield2018, nor is it under RiverSoftArt or Scripts.
If I try to use 'Execute from selected', 'Convert Item(s)' or 'Force Convert Item(s)' I get the error message 'No items selected. Please select some items and try again.'. This, despite the fact that the items I want to convert are all ticked in the Clothing Item Files.

I am running Win 10 and Daz 4.22
Whoa, something is very misconfigured. There is no "InstallManagerFileManager..duf'" and there should be no request for such a file. Could I see the DAZ log (not the in-dialog log) from when you click "Execute"?
BTW, for the other buttons: SELECTED means it is selected and HIGHLIGHTED as well as CHECKED.
Thank you for replying so promptly. I was trying to use the converter from the 'My Daz Library' folder, not from the 'Scripts' in 'Content Library'. Now when I try to run the converter from 'Scripts', I get a popup that flashes so quickly that I can't read it.

I found log files under 'Help' but when I click on the link, nothing opens up.
If you are looking for Daz Studio log, then it is in Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File.
Newest entries at the bottom.
