@ Electro-Elvis: despite fog and modern style a pub looks always welcoming. Very well done.

    @ Dave Savage: excellent "classic".

@ Dan Whiteside: strangely attractive. Must be that warm lighting

Well I'd best get this one in before the competition closes. As it's Halloween, I just had to do something sort of along those lines.

A fair bit of simple modelling in this. Also Victoria 4.6 with the Tiffany character (from Thorneworks) and West Park Hair.

Also featuring in the scene: The four framed pictures on the wall are renders I did three or four years ago and have revisited recently to have prints done for sale in a local gallery cafe, the Bryce controls (that I made for my Bryce in a Box advert) that sit on the end of the bed wooden chest as ornaments, the bed is a freebie from 3DArchive and is textured with my photo based wood material available on ShareCG and the wallpaper is the 'Flock' design material I made at the start of the year.

The scene is lit by one single radial light with Fall Off set to 'Squared' and tinted blue to give the impression of a TV screen just out of view.

Rendered with TA and Soft Shadows at 36rpp. Render time 1.56

Title: The Monster Under The Bed

Dave Savage, I really liked the plot, lighting and composition. Bravo!

    Happy Halloween!

    Great challenge and awesome entries.

    Here’s my first entry:

“The house on Hallow’s Eve Lane”

    House/pupmpkin by 1971s.

    Characters and outfits from DAZ3D.

Illuminated by the Bryce moon, 6 radial lights and 2 spehrtical dome lights.

About 2 1/2 hours to render at 16 RPP, True Ambience enabled.

    Thanks for looking!

Dan Whiteside, as always - great lighting and materials!

@ Dave Savage: Scary but also funny. Very well done and well lit.
@ Dan Whiteside: Very nice Halloween scene. Good work.

Makes note: Read the rules Dave! laugh

Gives me time to do another then... woohoo!!!

Thanks for the comments, Elvis, Henry, Alex and Drach

Hansmar: Adding some specular to the spaceman might make him stand out more, some bright highlights on him would give more depth, otherwise, great set up.

Elvis: Great, love the fog effect and the headlights.

    Dan: Great scene.

Henryhor: thanks; reverse birth, wonderful idea! And indeed, the stars could be better. I may reconsider this.

Adbc, Mermaid, Horo, Jay, Drachenlords: thanks.

Dave: Thank you. I also consider giving more light to the space man. I’ll give it a try. And ouch, your ‘Monster under the bed’ is rather similar to something I had in mind. I might still do it, but won’t be able to create such a beautiful scary girl, I fear.

    Elvis: Wonderful foggy scene.

Dan: very nice scary house. It’s a treat!

Ed3D: Now that’s a scary encounter! But it looks like his forepaws are not on the ground?

@ ed3D: much more frightening than the pink panther. N° 2 nicely improved with these flowers.

Not sure this can be an entry since the title only "works" (?) in english:

A DARK KNIGHT IN THE ATTIC

Credits: Predatron, DM, Flink... The hatchling dragon is supposed to be a rubber toy.

Ed3D - both your entries are well done and a bit on the scary side.

Henryhor - very nice render, awesome webs how did you do that.

  • @ Ed3D - both your entries are well done. I like the plants in the cemetery, that has something.

@ Henryhor: A great picture. Very cute scene, good light and a rich in details, lovingly made environment. Fantastic.

  • HoroHoro Posts: 10,273

ed3D - very nice and big leopard. I agree with Hansmar  about the forepaws not being on the ground - though it may be an illusion because there are no shadows.
Undecided is also a very nice entry.

Henryhor - very beautifully done scene.

ed3D: Undecided is an interesting mixture of realism and almost toonlike work (e.g. the star); nice.

Henryhor: Dark knight: I like the pun in the title, but the render does not need it. It is fantastic!

mtnmen: Another one that resembles part of my ideas. Very Haloweener! (you guess, my idea involves a kid in a bed)

@ mtnmen: wonder what lullaby they will sing? Poor boy.

@ StuartB: Bermuda Triangle routine smiley. Otherwordly lighting.

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

@ mermaid010: the cobwebs are from Flink. I imported the rocking chair and one of the webs objs (just a one poly rectangle) into Hexagon. There it's possible to adjust the web to the rocking chair (divide and smooth) without loosing the map. Made several overlapping layers with different textures. To add even more variety I added the web textures in the ambient channel with different values.

Also tested the dynamic web or magnets in Poser but wasn't convinced with the result.

    Electro-Elvis : superb image.

Dave Savage : beautiful especially the light effects and the expression on the girl's face.

Dan Whiteside : scary, original, special atmosphere.

ed3D : great image, I agree with Hansmar about the paws of the leopard. Your second entry is just awesome.

    Henryhor : wow, just wow.

mtnmen : thank you. That is a nightmare I prefer not to have. Well done.

StuartB : very original idea, great colours.

I listened to the comments on my submission with respect to the darkness and the stars. I therefore recreated my scene, with more light on the astronaut and with the custom stars instead of the random stars. This setting does not show comets, but I think that is not a real problem.
