Today I bought the Lift and haul overalls. I didn't notice what a friend pointed out, how badly the overalls are clinging to the chest of the figures in the promos. I think this is partly due to the baked in folds/wrinkles in the Henley, but also that the bib of the overalls is inverse rather than puffing out, adding to this weird shink-wrapped moob shelf that you can see on the bigger characters. The effect is minimal on basemale, but the more muscular figures this folded area (more commonly associated with female cleavage), is pronounced.
This is too bad, since I like the outfit. The shoes are a bit newish looking for 'working man' shoes, and they are oddly pointed.
The texture expansion offers some good color options.
What I'd love to see is the henley smoothed out, and the bib of the overalls more concave. It is a nice looking set, but the fit- is a problem.
Not an expert in all the cuts of overalls there are but the bib looks too low. I just search images & I couldn't find one instance of someone wearing overalls with a bib that low, of course I searched for farmer's overalls.
I concur. I think the bib is too low. It looks strange since it is meant to cover and protect the front of the shirt. As it is, it looks sort of designed to show off female cleavage.
Okay, moving along. I decided to attempt to solve the henley issue by removing the shirt entirely. LOL. AS we can see the Bib, is right beneath poor Boyd's pecs. LOL
But here is the grass product by dreamlight: Instant Grass. A hearty thumbs up for this. The grass comes with multiple colors, and a light set which is for sun/sky. I did not use the lights here. It renders fairly quickly for what it is... And seems to blend with this field HDRI
Is that product static grass or is it actually generating grass procedurally?
I am not sure. It does appear to be a prop so I am going with that.
thanks
Still waiting for a decent overall for G8M.
Of the 3 overall outfits I know of (Lift & Haul, dForce Overalls, Farmer Clothes) Lift & Haul is probably the worst, with its low bib and awkward chest area. The other two look better from the front and Farmer Clothes in particular has some nice detailing with the snaps; but none of them get the back right, which should be more narrow and look something like this:

It is marvelous designer. I tried turning on smoothing but it causes problems with the buckles. The gens almost fit.
in general the overalls are just too small. They should fit bulkier.
Yeah, it is too bad overalls aren't more realistic. I'd love some morphs too for the straps so one side could be down or up.
Here is Boyd and Owen visit the penthouse water park. This is an interesting idea. You basically get multiple HDRI's with included cameras to pose your characters in various scenes within the park. Unfortunately, I found the product difficult to use. Even with the included cameras getting your character posed in a suitable way within the environment proved challenging.
I had trouble getting the water slide scene to work. Not only did I not really have great poses for that, I couldn't really get an angle that looked the way I wanted.
This is useful for scenes inside an indoor garden or park. But... I am not really sure how to get a good shot of the slide. I will continue to attempt it.
Strictly business outfit and textures. What can I say? I like it. Rarely lately have I gotten any clothing that fits the guys this well out of the store, so I am pleased to see a nice looking set- no matter how oddly constructed come out. The texture expansion is needed to replace the white shirt, which blew out for me. Other than that. Love the pants, love the shoes, love the jacket. I just love it. And you can't beat the price.
I will admit to being baffled at how that fit on Owen out of the box. I put it on rebuilt Manu -- more or less the most muscular character I have, outside Brute-based ones -- and wound up having to use a bunch of Fit Control morphs to deal with pokethrough. That said, they DID deal with pokethrough, so it turned out OK.
Did you use the shirt dickey or the actual shirt?
I KNOW. Nothing ever fits owen and boyd really well these days. The only issue with Owen was a little bulge in the groin, I just hid his pelvis and it was a go.
I have bought a lot of male content lately. And truthffully I can't use a lot of the new dforce outifts. They fit the guys badly and they are too time consuming to correct and I don't have 30 minutes to see if it will explode. I'd rather have good old conforming cloth.
The outift is the dickie one.the sb full outfit jacket set.
Here is boyd in the outfit, with one of the texture expansions. There was minor pokethrough on his feet, and on the shirt front, and the buige morph but I'm used to it. Sometimes the boys HD do not play well with clothing. Fortunatley, making the limbs hidden worked well.
Pants & shoes are out of the 90s. Haven't seen that style for a while, it works well.
are those not just generic jeans and generic boots you see anywhere?
I think he means 'Skinhead' style.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinhead#/media/File:Dr_martens_boots.jpg
Not anymore more on adults (or children for that matter). I've only seen techie coders wear both the timberlands and rolled up jean cuffs at work in the 90s. All other times rolled up jean cuffs are something a boy does wearing his big brother's hand-me-downs around here. I guess that style on adults is a California thing.
No, Timberlands. I remember Dr Martens being talked about in the 80s when I was in school. And Bobby Brooks and what seems like a dozens of brand names that had something vaguely to do with clothing brands and being cool. I've heard of skinheads but I found them scary, like punk rockers or LOL, KISS. Never was much for changing just to be in a faddy clique, especially a scary one.
The rolled up jean look predates that. It is from the 1950's.
Serene, I noticed your comment on the Strictly Casual thread, and I was wondering if you had a list of G8M clothes you'd recommend.
@UHF
Clothing by Luthbell is top notch: https://www.daz3d.com/luthbel
Smay's Torn Clothing is excellent: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-torn-clothes-for-genesis-8-males
Blue Rabbits's Summertime outfit includes lots of pieces and fits really well. The swimwear in this set is nicely designed: https://www.daz3d.com/summer-time-outfit-for-genesis-3-and-genesis-8-male-s
Maxx HD by Soto has the best thong and swimwear in the store, not to mention a great character with lots of good pieces: https://www.daz3d.com/maxx-hd-mega-pack-for-the-brute-8
Don't forget Muscleman's free texture pack on his deviant art account
Herschel Hoffmeyer's male military stuff is also quite good. https://www.daz3d.com/herschel-hoffmeyer
Okay, here is Underbelly's outfit fitted to Owen. There are some problems with this one, but I like the collar on the shirt.
On the plus side, the textures are really nice
I went onto the mesh and scaled down the right and left shin to 87% , and shrank the pants just a fraction. I think this took care of the overall bulky calves Now I think this looks fine.
The shirt I think is going to be a very handy piece.
I don't get why more PAs cant do nice collars like this. This will be handy under a great many things. The pants and shoes are also quite realistic.
I am quite pleased with this purchase. Too bad about the vest, but the rest is perfectly nice.
hmm. Now that I look at it... The gen bulge morph is doing something odd with the elements region.
here I dialed out the bulge. No weirdness, but also, a sort of inverse pant zone. That area needs to come out or something...
So dialed back in the gen bulge morph.... And now.... The shirt is wrinkled and seems to miss the pants entirely. Very... strange.
This is just the regular bulge morph that comes with the morph set sold here. Not a weird 'rotica thing.
I think we'll move on now.
The pattern on that shirt is nice
For what it's worth, I think the issue is that they're very low-hanging loose pants, where most Daz pants have a higher crotch and closer fit. The bulge morphs are trying to work with a place that isn't quite what they were designed for. (I was able to fit the pants over the elements with Fit Control. The results are ... amusing.)
