    King Henry VIII
Your King Henry VIII knocks it out of the ballpark. He is very gruff, very much in command, and not to be dealt with lightly by any other foreign force or dignitaries. You not only get a sense of power, you get a sense of he wants the world. The attention to detail is quite amazing- down to every stubble on the face.

    AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Introducing my latest custom character... GIA 5

(a dialed character for Genesis, inspired by Gia 6)

Wondering what the settings are for her.

For my entry, it's a group of sorts. A while back I got into doing dial spun characters and uploading them for public use: http://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=zamuelnow

    Thank you! :)

@ZamuelNow: I'll post the formula for Gia 5 later when I get a chance...they're on a different computer from the one I'm using to post this.

    Gia 5 Formula...

As you can see, she's based on the various Stephanies, plus a bit of V5 and a pinch of F5.

I consider this to be a "first draft." If at some point I get Genesis Evolution: Muscularity and/or the Reby Sky shape, I'd like to incorporate them into this character. I'd also like to compare her with Gia 6 when I buy her, and probably make some further changes.

Edit: I see the value for V5 was obscured in the screenshot. It should be 0.20.

I gave it a try using reby sky, Stephanie 5, and bodybuilder. I tried to limit it to a few morphs.

    Stephanie5 ModelBody, [ 0.6 ]
    Stephanie5, [ 0.5 ]

    FitnessDetails, [ 0.25 ]
    BodyBuilderDetails, [ 0.5 ]
    Navel, [ 1 ]
    BodyVolume, [ 0.25 ]

    Catching up...

@banditcameraman: Thanks for the compliment on Poe. :) Great job with the superheroes...I especially liked your interpretation of "the Princess."

Youu're very welcome and thank you so much, Scott; that means a lot since I'm a fan :cheese: I went for a more Mediterranean look for Diana because I've always thought her people would be Greco-Roman, ethnically; I used a Greek Model as a reference (I forget which one :red: )

Love this thread; it's a PITA when a subscription is borked :blank:

Hi, I've been lurking around the forums asking a few how-to questions. This is my first post of some of my work.
I've been playing for quite a while with mixing characters and dialing in traits.
Clarissa is my latest WIP. She is made from Girl4 and Genesis.
I liked the softness the rounded G4 face shape gave but I wanted a character that was more "girl next door."
    Constructive crit welcome.

@greycat: great work with Gia...I absolutely love the body shape. Can't see the face very well due to the lighting and pose.

@flower_time: Yes, I agree...more of a "girl next door" character with some of G4's facial features. Good job.

A nice hard edge face for a hard edge body

Arnia is gorgeous, Kismet. Nice work.

I'm glad you revived this thread, I'd forgotten it was here. I love creating my own characters and will add a couple later.

Thanks Jindi. I wasn't planning on creating a character at the time. She sorta just happened. There's a full body pose I need to render but while I was posing her I saw this in the preview window and just had to render the shot. Another happy accident.

I had to do a search to find it the thread again. This seemed like the logical place to put her. :)

I like where you're heading with this one, Teofa. As with all your characters, she's an individual and looks like she has a story to discover.

I've been putting together some more 'everyday' characters but also like the challenge of creating versions of characters from the screen. Here's one I've been working on.

The dresses are very temporary as it's something basic that I'd only just created and imported from Hexagon. Obviously needs further work to turn into any kind of historical fashion.

Not sure where I'm going with the background, it was too dark so I just faded it to post this here. I might split these two characters and do individual portraits instead.

@ Jindi - I really like the attitude in the one on the right.

Ok, I love those two. Optimist.. pessimist.

"Oh, what a lovely city" "It smells bad"
"I can't wait to see the King" "he is an idiot"

so much story, don't don't split them yet.

Still a work in progress on the lighting. This is a full body render to go with the head render I previously posted.

I'm kind of new to this, so mine probably aren't very impressive... really posting this to get over my own hesitation to post my noob renders x.x

I tend to try to create unique characters for most scenes or pieces, so all characters I work with end up custom. Here are three of them (assuming I figure out how to display an attached image on the post...). The shots are me playing with uber lighting for basically the first time...

edit: since they appear on their own, I guess it's easier than I thought :D

The one reaching for a hug (or bragging about a fish he caught? O.o) is Mark, the first character I customized in DAZ. He's supposed to be not quite human (you can barely see that in this render tho). This was before I got the growing up pack, so his proportions are dialed manually... and are probably wrong :P

    He's a genesis char.

    The dude scratching his head is Joseph... I was trying to come up with a normal looking (non-modelish) American dude, but I think he came out looking more European? u.u;

He's also a genesis char... which is prolly obvious.

The kid running down the very low res stairs is Astro. He's also a not-quite-human character.

He is customized from Matt to use TriAX weighting (as part of my figuring out what the difference is) with a smoothing modifier, as well as to look differently... Picked the M3PS and the morphs because they were cheaper than K4 and didn't realize the potential of Genesis at the time... Should've done that after joining Plat Club, too--could've saved some money... oh well.

All three are WIPs--eventually I want to swap their textures for custom ones, and maybe even create my own morphs for them... If I manage to learn how to do that.

o well... hope they aren't too embarrassing x.x

Joseph is a perfect looking "everyman" Lots of character, and not model-pretty.. heh, Americans have tons of Euro Ancestry.. so.. he is as american looking as anyone. Nice work. Funny, looking at him my first thought was Peter Falk.

Ha! Joseph's nose, cheeks and brows were a bit inspired by Peter Falk. Good guess :D

Joseph looks great! Very unique/distinctive-looking character. And I think the top one--both character and render--came out nicely too. I like how you shrunk that car model and turned it into a toy.

Ya, I realized I have no decent toy models, then realized I could just scale stuff xD

noticing no one commented on the third guy :P are 3rd generation models not popular anymore?

That's probably true to an extent...I think Aiko 3 still has a following, and I'll occasionally throw a reduced-resolution V3 or M3 into the background of a render. But I haven't used the Millennium Kids (actually I haven't bought them), and I don't see others using them often, either. But just because something isn't popular doesn't mean it isn't worth rendering!

Regarding your 3rd Gen character, I really like the active pose and expression, though it kind of makes it hard to get a good read on his appearance. Would like to see another render, ideally under different lighting conditions too, before commenting further. :)

I like all 3, it's just a little easier to see where you are going with the 'everyman' middle one, while I'd love to know more back story to put the 'not-quite-human' kids into context. But yeah, I like that 3rd guy, it might be the angle but he has quite a feline look about him, or maybe it's fox-like? I get the impression he's lively and quick, and would probably outsmart any opponent.

I've never used 3rd generation models as I came into this only recently. Genesis is very versatile when it comes to creating something unique, but it's interesting to see what can be achieved when starting from a different generation.

Once I finish tweaking them (yea right), I'll probably start a thread somewhere around here, if I'm not too embarrassed about it.

I try to incorporate subtle animal-like expressions here and there in their faces--part of the whole "not quite human" thing... But I'm not sure I'm any good at it yet

But ya, he's very lively allright

Now that I stopped him for a more static pose, I realize he isn't all that far off from the default appearance of Matt--even though most morphs are dialed quite a bit from zero... I guess, I'd have to either come up with a manual morph in a 3d program or just leave him as is, since he's unique enough by virtue of no one else using Millennium Preschoolers anymore %-P

Here's the aforementioned static pose. He isn't too thrilled about having to stay still %-P Or he's showing an attitude because he's really embarrassed of his clipping lower res t-shirt?

Sorry for the dim lighting again--it shows his eyes (supposed to be kind of metallic and very reflective... I'm still working on that >.>)

...also sorry for hijacking the thread x.x
